  1. I wasnt there but they texted me that Hendersonville Freshman beat Portland 49-42 tonight. At one point they were down by 30. Glad to see them not give up.
  2. BK my schedule says the 30th. I know they told us a couple of weeks ago they moved it from Halloween. LOL that reminds me, last year when we played there, Kemp had 11 tackles, my buddy at work was trick or treating with his kids in the neighborhood behind the field. My phone goes off and he says" Im about sick of hearing your sons name while we are trick or treating" lol Course I told him it didnt matte we were getting hammered lol....Thanks for your kind words a lot of kids gave up that night, but he didnt. I was more proud of that than anything. Again thanks so much for your words on Kemp. I will tag ya on facebook when I get the photos loaded, and please pass them on to any MJ parent as well. I enjoy doing it.....Just going to be a long 5 weeks......you discussed not having the surgery, do you have history with this injury with your son? Im trying to get as many opinions as possible.
  3. Thanks BK, we went to the ortho today, and he is done for the year. The ortho downgraded his shoulder separation to a 3. He flat out said "if this were my son, I would NOT operate. All I needed to hear. Ive been reading all night about grade 3 separations, interesting ideas on healing. IF all goes well, (we are in Gods hands anyway) he should be ready for baseball season on time. His best friend on the team (a sr) will more than likely be taking his place at corner. But he feels bad because he got the job, because he got hurt. Love that kid. Thanks again for the well wishes and prayers, we are overwhelmed by it all, cant thank people enough. We may have to go back later on, and shave the bone down that is sticking up, but thats on a player by player basis. Some do, some dont. Like my son said, its God's will, so who are we to question it. Love that kid. Good luck to everyone this week, and again, Im praying you all have a safe game. BK I will still get your sons photos when we play yall. Im still taking photos, and Kemp is still going to be standing on the sidelines. His best game last year was at MJ, as his Freshman year, for some reason he always played his best against yall. lol.
  4. No No No No No lol I thought it been quite around here.
  5. BK thanks for the kind words for my son on facebook. That means a lot. I was looking forward to seeing #27 chase someone down from MJ like last year lol. But, he will just be standing there. We will know more tomorrow after meeting the ortho. Thanks again.
  6. I have been downloading photos, howd everyone do tonight? Just saw the Lebanon score up there, wow.....but, we know the feeling.
  7. All of you are right, will moving down help us? YES, Will moving down answer all our prayers? NO. 3 years ago we went 5-5 and lost in the first round of the playoffs. You'd think, wow, ok, here we go, getting things back on track. Next season 0-10 and a majority of the coaching staff are gone. I think that was our 3rd or 4th coaching change in less than 6 years. Now we have another hard working staff and right now, 0-5. They are working just has hard as the previous staff. Same result. As I was standing there on the sideline tonight, taking photos of the Freshman game vs White House (we lost 30something to nothing), I made the comment, "I've said it before, and I will say it again, its the parents fault. Its all in the genes". Its that way in all sports, every where, not just Portland. The bigger the town, the higher statistical probability, there will be more athletes. The higher the level, statistically you need more athletes. Portland was thrust into a higher level, and the numbers just are not there. I have a son that plays, his talent level solely resides on mine and his Mamma's genes. I never played football a day in my life, what he has learned about football he has learned from his coaches, since he was 8/9, I don't know squat. Listening to a lot of the remarks being thrown at the kids from the stands, there is a lot of that going around. I couldn't name but 3 positions if I had to, qb, rb and cb, and that's because he plays 2 of those and it is not qb. BUT, the kids that have stuck it out, listened to all the nonsense from the stands, have the biggest hearts in the world, and are playing for nothing right now but pride. I love them for it. Plain and simple, Portland is doing all they can with the few brave young men that show up to play. All of our programs are doing what they can with what they got, and I applaud any kid that steps up to play any sport up here. That is why I take the photos that I do, its for the kids. I'm off my soap box, forgive me for the long post, but, high school sports are cyclical, and its all in the parents genes, if ya don't believe that, you've never coached.........oh and for the parents screaming "block somebody",or "hit somebody", the kids are laughing at you. You think they are out there letting people by them on purpose? IF so, please stop coming, they don't need nor want your support. They have had enough of it for years. They have coaches on the sideline that will coach them, and tell them what they are doing wrong, that's not your job, it is theirs. Your job as a fan is to support the kids, KIDS is all they are....Put yourself in their shoes, your at work, doing all you can do, to do a good job, and all your boss tells you, is that your not doing a good job at all, and suck at it. How long would you work there.....and these kids keep showing up, for every game, for their town. God love them for it. I Pray everyone has a safe game this week, with no injuries. We play Goliath( Hendersonville) next week, but David will show up no matter who. LOL .........remember if anyone from Hville wants a photo just tell me the players number. Whoop whoop!
  8. LOL thanks any player you want me to watch for? I already have to get some of Coach Raper for his wife, being "family" and all (on my wifes side), and my buddy's kid plays. It is a great atmosphere, liked to have been here back in their run at the state a decade ago.
  9. One thing about it, this Friday night we cant lose . Pray yall have safe games, and good luck to all the Sumner County teams......off week, then we host Hendersonville....wow.
  10. Thanks Tandem, this coaching staff, as well as the last couple of years, do what they can with what they got. But your right, the kids kept great attitudes and kept digging. I really love the new lights yall have, it making taking photos alot easier. I will post the link to flickr on the beech/portland thread if you know any players or parents of players. Thanks for the support
  11. Ouch, tonight hurt...came out of the half down by 2 scores and extra points, and 5 min and 3 td's later, we were done. Great job by my friends at Beech, miss seeing #85 and his parents in summer ball, and if ya ever want any dirt on your principal from his freshman year at CU, just holler, LOL I kid, Kenny is a great guy, and a good fit for yall. Wish yall the best the rest of the season.
  12. Amen, Cancer is one thing that puts things in perspective very quickly
  13. FRESHMAN GAME: BEECH AT PORTLAND: 42-24 BEECH.
  14. Well, guess I dont know him then, I was there 20 years earlier lol. May know his Mom and Dad though, lol
  15. MJ what year? I was in the class of 89, whoop whoop!
  16. I just hope Beech does their homecoming before the game like Wilson Central did ...who else has us for their homecoming game this year?
  17. Thanks Posty I know no one at WHH, do good luck to Westy whoop whoop and I pick Westy in this one lol
  18. I was hoping this game was on our bye week. Love to be there, know parents and kids for both teams. Love to see it and wish both team luck......But, since we have played both, I give the edge to White House, though I can honestly see it going either way just on number of players. If both play with the tenacity they both showed against us, I see the game going into triple ot and a safety winning it. Pray yall have a safe game
  19. LOL who says I havent lol all these guys I work with have kids at Hville, Beech, Greenbrier, Gallatin, and JP2. I tell them all, if ya kid wants playing time, MOVE lol. I actually had one Dad, whose divorced, and his wife is thinking of moving up here, tell her, which would ya rather have, our son playing and losing or staying and get a chance at a ring. Hes staying and trying for a ring the next 3 years he has left. Doesnt care if he only plays a little.....course, thats not the attitude we need in kids, (and we dont, when they have lost as much as they have, they have to love it to stick with it) I just thought it was sad.
  20. Lord help us, we are another homecoming game, counting ours, our 3rd one out of 5 games. Geezeeeee. If any Buc fans are on here, give me your sons number and I will do my best to get photos of them. My son is good friends with #85, so one or two more insnt a problem. Good luck to Beech and I pray for a safe game for our kids.
  21. Well, at least all our kids in Portland live here Sorry, I couldnt stop myself and mean it ONLY in jest. we are about to enter the real teeth of our schedule, all I do is pray for a safe games the rest of the way....I really feel for the players and our coaches.
  22. Here is the link to my flickr account, please pass along to any Greenbrier parent : https://www.flickr.com/photos/51526542@N02/sets/72157647162801698/
  23. Oh, and glad to see my old alma mater, the Wave pick up a win tonight, Congrats to yall.
  24. Hope the rest of 9aaa faired better than we did. Hville is for sure the powerhouse this year and for a couple of more years. We had moments of brialliance tonight, and then the opposite end of the spectrum. Kids just made mistakes, that cost us penalities. The defense spent the majority of time on the field due to the bad field position caused by the penalties. But the kids kept trying and the coaches kept coaching. Right now thats all ya can ask for. I will say its awesome that for the first time in a long time, our kids schools administrators, (principal and AD), come to every ballgame and give the kids encouragement. They have supported these kids, when others havent. For that, I thank them. Now the real meat grinder of the schedule starts. Good luck to the rest of 9AAA, praying for safe games.
  25. Wow, howd I miss all this, lol. MJ all I said was if ya want to post the scores of whomever MJ beats, do it in the right thread, which would have been the one in the 5A/6A forum. Ya dont post in a thead about Greenbrier and Portland. If I offened ya in anyway, I apologize. That was not my intent, kind of a long the same lines as you comparing yourself to a tool....thanks PP and BK, glad I have earned a few peoples respect. Now back to the original intent of this thread....It was good seeing a coupld of the Greenbrier Bobcats my son has grown up with, #5 and #18. They both played a whale of a ball game and I hope #18's ankle heals up, the kid had tears in his eyes but kept chugging away. I talked to both before and after the game, they have grown into fine young men and Id be proud to call either my son. I told #5 how proud of him that I was, and he said thanks, Im trying, I said son, it has nothing to do with football, my wife and I are proud of you for your recent baptism. I know your Dad has to be proud. They ran the ball well and it was a great defensive game, we just made too many penalties, mostly for false starts. But the kids never gave up. It was just a good football game. Their #38 ran the ball great as well. I wish Greenbrier well the rest of the season. It was also nice having both teams have a team prayer after the game. That was classy. I will post a link to all 1000 photos I took tonight on my flickr account, please pass the link on to any Greenbrier parent.
