Remember back in 2006-2007 and the Catholic team finished 3rd in District and made it to the Region tournament...those were the good days such optimism..wonder what happened to the program after that?
There will definitely be changes at the top. West loses its top 3, Farragut loses their top 3, and Maryville loses and a great post play, but brings back probably the best talent.
I say its Maryville, William Blount, and Lenoir City as the top 3
I hope Alcoa enjoys the spotlight of hiring a SEC assistant for a couple years...bc then he is leaving for a college job after the NCAA is done with him and Bruce. People are delusional if they think he is staying for the long haul.
Good luck
He is a boys basketball coach from CAK that came from Lenoir City Boys, before that CAK girls for about 3 hrs, before that Lenoir City Boys again, then it was Loudon Boys, and maybe North Middle School.
I am good friends with someone in the Athletic Office and they showed me the list of applicants.
The only fly in the ointment is that Farragut's entire Offensive line returns (most of them are sophomores). Their QB returns, their leading WR returns, and two of their 3 best defensive players return. So if there is a year to get your shot in on the Admirals this is probably it, Oak Ridge just missed their chance. A great and fun game to watch.
"get them to the BORO" thats hilarious. That's why coaches get run out of town, unrealistic expectations. This team has a couple good players and couldn't make it out of the first round of the district tournament at Home...and now because you get a new coach they are going to the State Tournament. Good Luck with that.
My search committee source says Blevins turned it down because of the talent he is bringing back.
Their next target is supposedly going to be Shane Wells or a well known North East Tennessee Coach.
Thats Really Funny! Your argument against recruiting is that 5 of 13 player on Catholic's Varsity roster came from non-catholic feeder schools so like 40%...thats a very strong argument, I take the recruiting comment back.
Just own it and enjoy the success but don't try to rationalize it
I don't know for sure but just a guess I would say........
1 Zack Quayle PG 5'10 155 Jr.
2 Matt Cox SG 6'3 180 Jr.
3 Lucas Branch PG 6'0 180 Jr.
5 Tommy Conaty SG 5'10 160 So.
12 Kyle Anders PG 5'9 150 Fr.
14 Spencer Roth C 6'5 200 Jr.
22 Taylor Broussard SG 6'4 180 Sr.
23 Terrance Hall PG 5'9 150 Fr.
24 Daniel Adams SG 6'1 170 Jr.
30 Chase Fox PF 6'3 200 Jr.
32 Joey Bodewig C 6'7 210 Jr.
33 Tyler Williamson SF 6'2 210 Sr.
34 Phillip Stephens PF 6'5 200 Jr.
and i don't care about either team...just saying recruiting and not having a zone is a big advantage
Maybe that and the fact that Catholic has beat them probably 9 of the last 10 times they've played and made three trips to the state tourney in the last 7 years.
Well congratulations for Catholic! Recruiting will have that affect on winning
