  1. Seems to be shaping up........ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/crosby-joins-clarksville-academys-football-program/
  2. The TSSAA has been trying with all their might to get the privates out of DI, and when CA offered to move to D2, the TSSAA jumped on it. As far as the new region getting harder by moving to 2A, I can't imagine it was much worse than having Huntingdon and Wayne Co. in your region, as CA did in 1-A. I'd think as vehemently as the publics had complained about having to play the privates, they would be overjoyed that CA jumped, even if it did cause a coach to have to juggle the schedule a bit. CA hadn't exactly been dominating all opponents in DI, though it had been competitive in most sports. There were a handful of privates that seem to have spoiled the fun for everyone else, but that's another topic. Regardless, it's over and done, right or wrong, by the TSSAA. Personally, I think the school is sitting on a gold mine of talent in Montgomery County, and if they execute the right plan with the right coaches, a sleeping giant may be awakened by the move to D2.
  3. Over 40 coaches have applied for the job and there are some extremely strong candidates. Applicants are from inside and outside the program, as expected. Top candidates are interviewing at the school over the next few days, and the school will name a coach in relatively short order, I suspect. Clarksville Academy's move to D2 in talent-rich Montgomery county, and the plan the school is putting in place to support the move, have been very attractive to a number of qualified coaches.
  4. I'm certain that CA will hire a top-notch coach and hire one quickly. Word is there is a lot of interest in the program, and what a great opportunity for someone to build on the foundation that coach Shephard started and coach Hood built on, and extend it into D2. CA has great football facilities and a game day atmosphere second to none in Montgomery County and they will attract quality candidates. I doubt they will publish a short list, however. On another note, Mike Robinson writes articles for clarksvillenow frequently on high school football and other topics. Thanks to Mike, Jimmy, and George for giving the community articles on our LOCAL sports scene. Here are a few links to some of Mike's football articles: http://clarksvillenow.com/local/high-school-football-players-volunteer-to-help-less-fortunate/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/local-high-school-football-players-sign-to-play-at-collegiate-level/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/head-football-coach-at-northeast-high-school-resigns/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/rossview-high-school-football-coach-steps-down/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/head-football-coach-at-fort-campbell-high-announces-resignation/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/football-clarksville-academy-plays-in-east-robertson-jamboree/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/high-school-football-teams-come-together-apsu/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/clarksville-native-commits-to-north-carolina-tar-heels/ http://clarksvillenow.com/local/football-coach-at-west-creek-high-looks-forward-to-new-season/
  5. The article didn't say the kid lived out of the school's zone, but if he did, that's a flagrant violation. The story simply said the coach gave the kid a ride to practice. I would have thought the article would have mentioned the major offense instead of the petty one, but you never know with sports writers.
  6. The heinous crime of taking a kid to practice who has no transportation. I'm glad they nipped that in the bud.
  7. It seems you may have misinterpreted what he said....he complimented his own team on how hard they played. I thought they played hard too, didn't you? I suspect Hood said more than that, and maybe even heaped some praise on HC, but that's all the "Leaf" chose to put in print. Coach Clark got a lot more ink than coach Hood, as he should - to the victor go the spoils. But coach Hood didn't in any way demean your team; he just complimented his own and the heart with which they played. He didn't even accused HC of cheating - there used to be a guy on here that always accused CA of cheating when CA would beat HC. Oh wait, that was you! For the record, I don't think HC cheated, I think they were just better than CA. Congrats to the HC players and coaches and best of luck in the playoffs...go rep the new region!
  8. I've been on Highway 13 more in the past 2 months than I was in the prior 10 years.
  9. Collinwood's #5 is a player. One of the best I've seen in high school getting yards after impact. When he gets hit, he always gets 2-5 more yards. Impressive young man.
  10. Say it isn't so Moto! I'm going to miss the JB/CA games. Some others in the old district....not so much.
  11. Lol, yeah, he pretty well keeps me off the board. I was hoping the new regions would be the end of him, but he stuck is nose in, so I'm done. I look forward to meeting y'all at the shed though, so arrive early Friday.
  12. I've not been around much because kenmynattcpa sucks the fun out of the board. He travels from thread to thread taunting fans from other schools. Maybe you ought to mind your own business ken. I think you have plenty of other issues to attend to rather than concerning yourself with how CA fares this week.
  13. Yep, our senior QB is out nursing a severe ankle sprain, which he got in the jamboree. He was a huge part of our offense, but # 10 has stepped up admirably. When Conn returns our offense will look significantly different. Not sure if that will be this week or next. Y'all do check out the Liberty Grill, and do check out the CA tailgating scene. Last week there were 50 groups with tents set up pre-game. Some of us that do the field painting hang out by the maintenance shed on the visitors side before, during, and after the game, so be sure to stop by and introduce yourselves, and maybe grab a bite to eat. There is usually chicken or some ribs smoking over by the shed.
  14. Congratulations Columbia Academy!. Ya'll have a great team, and a super nice facility. It was a pleasure in Muletown, and the best team won. Your kicker was nothing like we've seen this year - he can really kick the ball deep. I'm sure we will see you again next summer for our annual scrimmage - best of luck the rest of the way.
  15. Yep, if Clarksville Academy turns the ball over 4 times, chances are pretty good that we lose. I don't expect 4 turnovers, but I do expect a good game.
  16. Speak of the devil, here it is! Clarksville Academy faces explosive Bulldogs Friday. Looking forward to a good game Friday night....I just wish I had a box in Columbia!
  17. Just the title we 10-A folks would expect from Ken. He is a hard core NCS fan, but can be quite a poopy head at times. He loves his eagles, but sometimes doesn't play well with others. . However, if this thread turns in to a chest beating contest, my money is on Ken! My prediction for this one is 38-13, NCS.
  18. Those folks are not Clarksville Academy folks....just chatting about other stuff on this thread. CA is expecting a battle, and certainly not planning down the road.
  19. I hope you are right...but I doubt it will be easy. I'm looking forward to traveling to Huntland. I know their quarterback is a great kid, and I bet his supporting cast is top-notch too! Go Cougars!
  20. No, it probably doesn't bode well if they meet again. But the comment by Hood was a classy assessment of NCS by a coach who's team had just been soundly defeated by them. He was paying a compliment to the NCS players and coaches, and program. Somehow, you find a way to demean him, and his program, and the kids (children) who just played the game. They are kids you know. The one who went to the hospital by ambulance on a back board is 14. Congratulations....some of you folks on here are pretty good at heckling kids. I have not met many people in my life who want to heckle children and revel in their failure, but there sure seems to be quite a collection of them here. It would be great if you collective NCS dads could have a reasonable and mature conversation about kids playing high school sports without trying to degrade and demean them. Y'all seem to enjoy degrading other people almost as much as you enjoy heaping accolades on your own kids and beating your chests. If your kid is good, and your team is good, we can see it. You don't have to get on here an rub it in everyone's face ad nauseam - we get it. Your team is good, and our coach, along with many other posters has said as much. Be proud of NCS and support them in the playoffs. I'd love to be able to do the same, but you folks make it tough. Y'all could take the fun out of a clown convention.
  21. Yep, that is correct. I remember that night well, but I did not make it to Huntland the next year. Who won that one? Should be a good matchup with the Hornets!
  22. ncsdads and pseudo ncsdads, I'm sure there is not a coach in 10-a that coaches their players to make cheap, dirty, or illegal plays that could draw a flag. And if you think ours does that, I believe you are mistaken. I was looking forward to this game, but all the finger pointing, chest beating, holier than thou talk has just about sapped my appetite for it. We have had players lose their cool during a game before, and will again, just as I am sure you have. Usually, it gets taken care of by officials and/or coaches. I could bring up numerous examples that I have witnessed over the years with other teams from the district of perceived dirty play, and unsportsmanlike actions by players and parents, but why? Should we have a contest of who made the dirtiest play or who has the most foul mouthed redneck parents? I don't think we should. Going down that road, in my opinion solves nothing and only inflames the situation, potentially leading to more discord. The bottom line is that I know our players are good kids and well coached and coached to play clean. I have no doubt your players are good kids and coached the same way. Many of them already are friends with our kids and many more will become friends as the years go by. Let's let them play the game and enjoy their high school athletic careers without all the drama. I promise, the coaches, officials, and kids will work it all out, lets us just watch.
  23. Borrowing my husband's account to reply to this.... Don't worry NCSdad1962, most of us (esp the ones of us with older kids- my oldest son is a jr in college now) feel the EXACT same way about some of you. You would be horrified, or at least I hope you would be, at some of the comments made to my son and his teammates over the years by your PARENTS. Cheer for your own team and remember that those are kids out there playing. This forum would be a lot more fun to read if you all stopped bashing the other schools so much and just talked about sports. No school or Coach is perfect, ours isn't and I'm positive yours isn't either.
