  1. MILO, So The bulldogs think IT'S PONY TIME as well?
  2. This week in district 7... Riverdale will chop Oakland. Dogs have too much bite for the Stars. And for Blackman... It's PONY TIME!
  3. Thanks, That's the way it was when I called the game. If you are correct the rule hasn't changed, It's just not being called correctly because we had a kick returned that was caught 5 yards deep in the endzone against Smyrna. That made me think it had been changed. The official making this call at the goal line is the head ref. and if he doesn't know the rule our officials are slipping. Thanks again for the reply.
  4. And Blackman has won how many games without Mathers? Siegel - Mathers out sick Riverdale - Mathers out with toe Brentwood - No Mathers Don't let the facts get in the way. It's Pony time!
  5. I like commenting (whining)... I thought that was what this site is for. The funniest comment of Friday night was the Brentwood announcer saying "the player was down by contact". I'm not sure that applies to high school. I think in high school if you're down, you're down. And the best thing about Brentwood football is the price of the game ticket (only $5). No wonder people in Williamson County have more money.
  6. If the runners forward progress is stoped you can say it's not a fumble. However if the ball comes out with the runner moving forward and he's not down... It's a fumble. And that's what I thought I saw. But I been wrong before and as I said it didn't cost Blackman the game. All we need to do to beat Lavergne is get I'Tavius Mathers back on the field. Remember... NO PONY, NO WINNIE.
  7. The scoreboard is operated from the pressbox. The clock is opperated by the official electronic clock opperator 'ECO' on the field (home sidline) under normal conditions. The ECO only has an 'on and off' switch to control the clock. If an error is made and the clock needs adjustment (time changed) the scoreboard opperator must make the adjustment in the pressbox and thats the reason you might see an official talking to the pressbox. But, the timekeeper (ECO) is the guy dragging the cord up and down the sideline. If there is a failure in the equipment the ECO can opperate the clock from the pressbox, but that's not the norm. My complaints about the officials was the varying holding calls, pass interference, the inadvertant whistle on a fumble before the player was down, the touchback call on the punt with the offical on the other side of the field marking the ball out at the two yard line, the head official signaling first down when the head linesman had spotted the ball short of the 'yard to gain marker' and the kickoff returns being called automatic touchbacks when the kick returner stepped on the goal line when we've seen these balls run out of the endzone all season long. It use to be you couldn't run the ball out of the endzone and I guessed that rule had been changed by the way its been called this year. I'm just saying the calls were very inconsistent with the way other officials are calling it.
  8. Although it didn't determine the outcome of the game I have to comment on the officials (Metro Conference I think) and how poorly they called the game. I feel for the teams who have to watch that week after week. They were out of shape, out of position, had poor mechanics and clearly haven't read the rule book. Sad to watch the old, fat, confused Head Referee who should have hung up the cap years ago stumble around on the field. I have a question... Does anyone know the rule about running a kick-off out of the endzone. We have watched the ball be run from 5 yards deep out of the endzone (in the Smyrna game) to being called a touchback when the kick returner barely steps on the goal line. It use to be impossible to have a 102 yard kick-off return because the ball was dead (a touchback) if the momentum of the kick carried the ball into the end zone. From what we've saw, It has appeared that rule has been changed in the last few years, until last night. Does anyone really know how the rule is supposed to be enforce today?
  9. Congrats to Riverdale. The 'Best' team in our district rolls on.
  10. Well, Like I said.... It's anyones game if the 'Toe Truck' isn't dressed out in warm-ups. And the team that wants it the most will win it. Brentwood played good enough to win and Blackman didn't. I'm not going to rip the team I cheer for but there is plenty of blame to go around. Lets hope Mathers is well soon. Congrats to Brentwood on the win. Go Blaze!
  11. Riverdale rolls on to 9 and 0 this week. Sorry but Cookville simply don't stand a chance in this one.
  12. Smyrna wins this one in a cake walk. Stop it now, before it gets ugly. Smyrner 50 DaWood 0 by halftime
  13. Blackman today looks nothing like the team that played indy and BA at the start of the season. At the same time, I'm almost sure that Brentwood isn't the same team I saw play Cookville at the start of the season. If the TOE TRUCK (Mathers) is running at full speed Friday night, I think Blackman will roll over Brentwood with pure athletics. If not, This could be anyones game and the team that 'brings it' will win. I'll not have a good feeling about this one until I see the warm-ups. Both programs are class acts and reflections of their coaching. I'm sure we'll see great sportsmanship and hopefully it will be injury free. GO BLAZE!
  14. I was at the accident scene Monday and they said "no one was hurt and that they had a TOE TRUCK already on the way."
  15. Haven't your heard?... Any thing you say or do, can and will be used against you. By winning the district, You've stole one of Blackmans goals for this season. I just hope the Blaze (with the Train) and Warriors meet again this year. GO BLAZE!
  16. This will look nice on the field house door when we meet again. THANKS GO BLAZE!
  17. I guess it's OK to answer your own question. Coach Faulkner will continue as the MTSU QB coach and now is the 'O' play caller for the rest of the season. Good choice! GO BLAZE!
  18. You're right, He teaches that and many other things very well. You commented about MTSU's QB coach. With the changes that took place last week (Willie Simmons leaving) I'm not sure who the MTSU QB coach is today. I'm sure Coach Stockstill could be doing it but he can't have the time to be a QB coach. I hear Kelly Holcumb (a Robbins product who has had a little success) has been working with the Raider starting QB some and I wonder if he might take the MT quarterback coaching job. The MTSU QB has a gun for an arm, but he having never been a starting QB in high school could still use coaching on the fine details of being a really great QB. Back to the subject... Coach Shad had done a super job surrounding himself with great coaches and all the Murfreesboro/Rutherford Co. schools are fortunate, We have so many good coaches in this area.
  19. I know that Coach Robbins has given his time and worked at some camps/clinics in Murfreesboro in the past and is a excellent QB coach (second to none.) At the same time, I'm not sure how much players should try to impress or conform to coaching that is done in camps unless they plan to play for that coach at some point. From my experience, most coaches at camps teach different styles and technics on how a QB should take the snap, drop back, make decisions like give, pull, keep, pitch and/or throw the ball (all in a split second.) Although I get your point, the coaches every high school QB must impress and conform to is the group he's playing for. If you're simply trying to say Coach Robbins is great at what he does with QBs... YOUR RIGHT! I know that every player I've talked with that has been coached by him, love and respect the impact he has on their lives both on and off the field. About the Siegel QB who may be getting 'hints' from a QB coach at MTSU, that's not needed. He really needs to go no further than the dinner table to talk with a former Flordia State QB who was taught by Bobby Bowden. Coach Bowden once quoted "Son, you've got a good engine, but your hands aren't on the steering wheel.†My point being... If you're a QB... Impress the coach your with.
  20. Congrates to Riverdale on a big win. I guess we came up a little short on what we had hoped would be a injury free game. I know some are saying its turf toe, but I really don't think that would have stopped Mathers after all we've watched him play thru. I really hope I'm wrong but I fear it may be the foot. I'm sure we'll know more tomorrow. Lets keep this fine young man in our prayers and hope for the best.
  21. OK, (my mistake) try my-mvp.com and you may understand. Tons of great football photos.
  22. Do you have any ideas where a person might find a more professional photo? I've heard that they have this site (something like MY-MVP.COM) that has great high school photos. Maybe he should check it out.
  23. Todays the day. Both teams clearly have great respect for each other. It's the best game in the state this week and could be the two best teams in Tennessee. Murfreesboro's kids will be in the spotlight tonight, on TV at the highest level and we are all proud of them and their athletic accomplishments. We hope for a great, injury free game from two class programs. LETS GET IT ON and may the best team win. Good luck to all and keep it classy. GO BLAZE!
