Just a thought but dont you figure that most young assistants want to be the man. Most type A personalities do. It aint like SC is maryville or something. This is why people start thier own buisiness. They want to be the one calling the shots. Even for less money. AND the head coach in JC shares the spotlite with no one in the county. NO retail, rodruns, or dollywood to share the spotlite with. HA HA This was just a thought for disc. Dont even know if he is a good coach?? Just a point that there is someone looking to promote. And you may remember that JC kicked SC last year 28-14???

Yes you are correct lets hope! HOw about J Mathews at Sevier county. Ex vol with college exp. The point is there are several options and jc should be able to land someone to energize the program.

I think you are correct and on target! and how can you hire eric with his record over the past few years. HOw do you replace a 11-10 coach over the past 2 years with a 1-19 or 2-18 coach. This to me would be a slap in the face to the old coach. This would only lead to more questions and self doubt?? I hear he is a good coach though. Need someone from outside to break the ties who can motivate, inspire, and lead. Sounds simple, A few great football players moving into the program wound not hurt either.

I see your point but all programs have this problem. Unless you are winning state each year, someone is questioning the coaches. Heck, Ive said this b-4, Db is questioning their coach for getting beat by beardon and they went 11-1 last year. It is worse at some places but it will always be bad at places that have tradition. 5-5 or 6-4 will never fly at places like SC, JC, oak ridge, DB, faragut, ect. these programs expect more. I supported the last coach and think he did a good job improving the program but someone, who I dont know, thought it was time to make a change. I have to support this decision as I did when they gave Anderson the job. I now turn my attention to looking forward as I dont want to get hit head on looking back. Has anyone got any rumors as to who may be the new head coach. I cant help but think they have someone in mind given how this transpired??????

A FINAL SALUTE: Given the record of the past 4 years, I may have made the same choice considering the 20-22 record, but, I say but, There is much more than the record when letting a coach go that many like and respect. I am one. What I can say, dispite the record is: The program is much better off than when he got the job. We have went from 30 players to near 90. This is progress. Second, he has effected many young men in a positive way, for this we say thanks and salute. As long as you leave somthing better than you find it, you can always hold you head high and walk tall. Anderson can be proud and move on. He done his best and thats all you can do. Although this decision may be the correct move down the road, who knows, time will tell, It does not come without saying by to a JC friend. Good luck

The issue is Jc will not pay, But i disagree, someone wants a chance to coach 6a ball. If they will pay, someone will come. See coaches have egos and want to advance. Somewhere a 3,4,5a coach is looking to promote! Make more money for their family!!!!!Even ones with state championships at thier programs. They all wonder if they can succeed at a higher level. Do they have what it takes?? Pay what Maryville pays George and see. In a few years they will be back. With 1200 boys, the numbers are in our favor. They can win and will. The kids at Jc are not fat, dumb, or lazy as others suggest. The program has taken positive steps in the past few years. Thanks to Coach Anderson for promoting this process. But for now, its time to take the next steps. We can all grumble over the decision, but this will get us nowhere. Now that the move has been made, Move forward. Make a big jump as too many student athletes are getting caught up in the mess.

bitter/sweet pill to swallow. you are correct to some degree in that every team will be compared to those of the 80's but this in no different than other program that have had glory days. AE, Halls, Central, Fulton, and Oak Ridge have done the same things. All programs compare to those exceptional teams of the past. Heck, DB wants to fire their coach each year for going 10-0 and losing in the playoffs. Anderson will be remenbered as a transitional coach that got the players back out. We thank him for that. As to not having players that compare to those days, you are wrong! The problem is we only have a few and not many!! Those teams had many. As to this firing, I hate to see Anderson leave, He loves JC. At the end of the day the people in JC will not except going 500. If the next coach goes 500 after 4 years, they will move on again??? right or wrong this is the life a coach excepts when he signs on the dotted line. I hate to see anyone lose their dreamjob. I THINK WE WILL RELOAD VERY WELL. OUR LINE COULD BE GOOD. I HEAR RUMORS OF 2 KEY PLAYERS COMING BACK OUT AS SENIORS/ ONE IS LARGE(240LBS)AND ATHLETIC AND THE OTHER IS 200 LBS, ATLETIC, AND BENCHES 400 LBS. HE PLAYED CENTER AS A FRESHMAN. THE OTHER WAS A FORCE OUT OF JEFF CITY AND WILL BE A SENIOR AS WELL. IF THESE 2 COME BACK LOOK OUT AS TO THE DEF KEY PLAYER WILL HAVE TO PLAY BOTH WAYS AND I THINK WE WILL BE GOOD AGAIN BUT BIGGER. THE CONCERN I HAVE IS OUR TEAM SPEAD WILL PROBABLY DECREASE. OUR DEF LINE SHOULD BE GOOD, OUR SECONDARY SHOULD BE GOOD, OUR LBS SHOULD RELOAD BUT ITS HARD TO LOSE 54 AND NOT FEEL THE EFFECTS AS TO THE OFFENSE, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE OF A PRO STYLE. WE HAVE A QB THAT CAN COMPLETE PASSES. HE MUST BE COACHED BY SOMEONE THAT KNOWS THE QG POSITION AND KNOWS THIS BY EXPERIENCE. WHO IN OUR SYSTM KNOWS HOW TO PASS AND WHAT TO LOOK FOR RELATED TO THE QB POSITIION. OUR COACHES HAVE VEER EXPERIENCE?? WE MUST LEARN TO SET UP OUR PASSES. THINK ABOUT IT. ANDERSON WAS THE QB COACH UNTIL THE 4TH GAME LAST YEAR. WE SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PASS. WE MUST LEARN HOW TO ADD THIS TO WHAT SHOULD BE A GOOD RUNNING GAME. AS MUCH AS WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT RUNNING THE VEER, WE KNOW THAT LITTLE ABOUT PASSING. RUNNING RECEIVERS IN A WAY THAT GETS THEM OPEN TAKES TIME. IT TAKES TONS OF PRACTICE TO GET THE TIMING OF THIS. THATS WHY SC IS SO GOOD AT THIS AS ITS THEIR PRIMARY FOCUS. JUST THOUGHTS GO PATRIOTS

I was hoping I was hearing wrong. I would love to see the Pro style. and as to db running the wing t, look where this has gotten them in the past 10 years. rarely past the first round. Its got its issues as well. The pro sytle gives you many more options.

They had a problem when 42 went down. They was comp until he went out in the Maryville game. Hes is the heart of the def and very important in the passing game. very dangerous 3 loss team They pass better than everyone thinks especially when 42 is playing.

maryville killed him with team d. no single player. they made contact often 3-4 yards deep in backfield b-4 he turned upfield. He never really got into def backfield where he kills you. Maryville is also very deciplined and did not over pursue. This is what has gotten most teams as they chase and he cuts back. Your inside pursuit better be there. He is by far the best Ive seen this year but I think your team d will be ok if they stay where they are coached to be. If you stray and give a lane, He will go 90 in a heartbeat.

dead on. Beardon has an average def but big. They will have you 40-50 lbs/man. They are missing key LBs though unless they return. They will load the line and challenge you. The diff is when you get to the knoxville teams, They have seen knockout comp. They beat each other up and the records show it. I promise, you have not seen Young speed. The real test is the game past this. I know, one at a time, but if you cant pass you will not get past the big M. They will outman you up front. They are bigger, as fast, as strong, and coaching second to none. They will run, then pass, when you take the run. You offense is preditcable, I didnt say easy. Just follow the motion and set someone on the backside for the counter?? You are correct, develope the pass fast. You will need it to keep defs honest. Its hard ot win a 6a title without it. one game, a team will get up early and take the run away??? congrats on the win. DB has a rock solid team.

great questions? great post. what offense will we run next year. 3 years, 3 offenses. I think the issues start here??? Same as why run wildcat on 1st and second down and the change QB's on third and pass. Why run play action on 3rd and 14 when lb's are pass first and adjust to run. Our offense had success in first half. we should have scored 10-14 points in the first quarter. My question is why no adjustments after halftime when they moved def players up to stop option???? My opinion is Im ok with Anderson, but, we need an off expert to come in and fix our offense. Veer?? spread?? Pro style?? Tallent was not an issues agains West and WBlount this year. DB should have been a much closer contest as we matched up.

DB has great def and average offense, Beardon has good off and average def?? Young will be the best running back on the field and if he gets into the Linebackers, he is gone. Both Offenses are predictable. who can pass may win. Beardon throws it better. Beardon much bigger.?? should be a battle.
