Keep your eyes open because this freshman is making our own first team defense look pretty bad at times. When I said same caliber as Cody Walker I did not mean as big or as strong I meant as much talent and probably more speed. He may not get the ball this year like Cody did but just wait.

I do not like Signal Mtn but I sure would like them to beat whoever it took to get a chance to play Trousdale. I just would like to see a team I do respect put a beatdown on them this year like the Pirates did last year. Maybe this 2 year team can show some of the things we had never seen to you because I am still looking a year later.

I was talking to a friend of mine last night who is a former running back at South Pittsburg and a very good one I might ask and he was telling me about yesterdays practice and I got very excited. He said that the Pirates future is starting to emerge and you will be able to see this young man some starting tomorrow in the scrimmage. Like I said in one of my first posts, South Pittsburg has some young talent coming up that is just incredible. This young freshman is in the same class as Cody Walker was just with a better head on his shoulders. Get Ready I Know I Am. PIRATES FOREVER

If the kicker would have hit the extra points the Pirates would not have been throwing at the end of the game and would have won anyway.

Cute stuff. 4th and 4 on the 4 and attempting a field goal. How about line up bust the other team in the mouth hand it to one of your 10 running backs and knock it in the endzone. There are other examples if you would like them. There is also another name for cute if you want it.

I hope everyone enjoys the first real showing of the new Pirates Friday and see if we are as weak up front on both sides of the ball as some of these neighbors we have think so.

All I am saying is we will be a lot more physical and there want be as much cute stuff like you saw last year. Get ready.

Everything is still going to have to go through South Pittsburg. We lost Terrell but the team is going to be physically tougher I promise you. The last time someone punched us in the mouth like Union City did even though I think going to a 5 man line would have beaten them was Gordensville and what happen the next year. We destroyed everyone. I am not saying we are that good but get ready to get bruised up.

I'm pretty sure that everyone will know just how far the Pirates have come after there first real scrimmage which I think is this Friday. 7 on 7 is fine and dandy to keep in shape and get your timing down but put the big uglies on the field and then you will be able to see just how strong the team as a whole is. Don't be surprise if the o-line is better than people think.

I'll be at the jasper game like always maybe you will grace me with your presence. Maybe you can while wiping the tears out of your eyes because of the thumping you will be watching as the Pirates do it again.

The diploma I have says South Pittsburg High School also and happen to have a picture hanging in the gym. Do you know what that means or not. I also got 4 stripes under Brooks in Baseball.

I would lighten up if I thought you ever put on the pads and actually played any football for the Pirates. But seeing that we are on the same side I am willing to apoligize or however you spell it. Pirates forever

The point i was making is that Chris did not throw the bomb that beat Stevenson in whatever season you want to call it.

When I first said the 1985 game down in stevenson it would be the 1984-85 season and I know for a fact Chris Ferrel was not the quarter back. Chris started the next season taking the job from Tracey Kennemore. If you really want anymore info I can tell you all the starting o-line and d-line.

I will have to agree with you. If you have ever been quarterback in the backyard everyone has their Peyton Manning moments and it sure is easy when you don't have some beast coming after you and trying to crush your melon.

Again are you sure it is not Bill Baxter Stadium, Dave Baxter's brother and former principal at Jasper High school?

Great point when you start playing for individual trophies instead of for the big gold football bad things tend to happen and your teammates tend to resent you too.

Just some games that come to mind but their is so many. 1994 when the Pirates went to Trousdale and the Banks boys actually made the running backs quit because of the punishment they were dishing out. 1986 when the Pirates played Celine for the first time and they had Jimmy Hull who at the time had more all purpose yards and leading scorer in the state. Three offensive plays and the Pirates were leading 14 to 0. Jimmy Hull ended up with about 20 yards that day. 1985 The Pirates threw a bomb on 4th and about 30 late in the game to beat Stevenson who had beat the Pirates 5 or 6 years in a row. The Pirates had to be escorted out of the stadium because of the rabid stevenson fans. These are just a few from a Proud and dominate tradition know as South Pittsburg Pirate football.

All I know is that the Pirates use to scrimmage Polk twice a year all through the 80's so we are pretty familiar with them. Of course we scrimmaged them so much because the most famous Polk county football player of all time was the SP line coach. That being Dave Baxter.

South Pittsburg have got all kind of young talent that will possibly be all-staters one day but that is the problem they haven't proved anything yet and if you want to be honest their is not too many that have proved anything anywhere. This is the problem we want to always give them something before they have earned it. I hope the Pirates have a whole team of all-state players who actually go out and prove that they are the best but we will probably get a couple who really do not. I am not trying to make anybody mad but I'm just being honest. Let the guys earn it and keep the politics and the backroom promises out of it and it will mean a whole lot more.

I hope they think that the Pirates line is going to be so weak because they will be surprised early and many times. Honestly they should have been blown out last year and they will get blown out this year.
