If I could add one thing or maybe two. What has signal done during the season. Last season and if I remember correctly they were going to show the Pirates something they have never seen before but that did not happen because we have seen plenty of big mouthed teams get their heads cracked and will see it again this year. As far as SP recruiting you must be joking, we have lost more players than you can even imagine. Does anyone remember the Cobb boys that played for Cleveland they lived on Old Jasper road in the Burg. Just a couple you might not have known about.

You are exactly right games have to be played on the field and one thing that still bothers me is that if the coaches could have run a 5 man line in stead of the 3 man line they were use to the Pirates would have ended up with another state title. I hope we will be a little more adaptable.

I really thing people are going to be surprised especially with the O-line. These young men have been working hard and now it is almost time to strap it up. Even though the Pirates have lost some leadership I think they have a new mindset and that is not to look pretty all the time but to punish teams. It should be real interesting and we will know soon.

Maybe it is just me but it just seems that now since there is so many divisions,classes, etc the All-State selection system needs to be changed. Even though I am a huge supporter of the Pirates of South Pittsburg, every year they have 4 or 5 all state selections. Of course they are always deep in the playoffs or even in the big game but back in the day when it was just 1, 2, and 3A the Pirates had just as much talent but at the most would get 2 or 3 selections. I don't care what class you are in it does not make you a better football player if you are 4A as opposed to 1A. I know it is the same in many of the teams that are around here but it just seems that it is becoming more political that who is the better football player at the position.

I hope thelivinglegend enjoys coming to the Burg this year and watching the carnage that is going to take place. Not only will he see an improved and stronger line but the young guys right out of the 8th grade are in different class than anything seen in Jasper.

Is it really David Baxter Stadium because he was a great line coach at SOUTH PITTSBURG

I just hope Union City is that good again because the Pirates who I love got just what they needed last year and that is punched in the mouth. Don't look for it again. I Promise You we will do the Punching this year!!
