  1. Overton is 3-1 after demolishing Glencliff. Meanwhile, Centennial is on cloud nine after clipping the wings of the Independence Eagles and find themselves at 2-3. How does this one shake out? Can the Bobcats mash the Cougars, or will the Mallory Lane Felines squeak out another W? Thoughts???
  2. How bad does Independence beat Centennial this year OR do they even beat them at all? Can Centennial do it? Opinions???
  3. Smyrna should be embarassed if this thing is close. They are a 6A powerhouse playing a school that really should be 4A instead of 5A. Some of these Franklin fans on this thread need to cool it. Centennial scored at the end of the game to take the lead and it was called back for what I heard was a very questionable holding call. Franklin fans....it sounds like you didn't win the game. You escaped disaster. Franklin should feel fortunate to get the W and feel a little embarassed for practically squeaking by a team that my Raptors destroyed 28 to 0. Smyrna wins this game fairly easy.
  4. I'm the idiot? You are showing your stupidity by not knowing what the heck a Bruin is. It's a bear, moron. You also show no knowledge of football because Indy is horrible. I realize Oakland is a powerhouse but a 45 point loss to anyone is NOT decent. We'll see in a couple of weeks how "decent" the Eaglettes are against Centennial. I'm a Ravenwood guy so I don't have a dog in the fight, but I don't see Indy winning many games this year.
  5. I know this is a big IF and won't happen but if Centennial could upset Franklin I could see the argument. Indy, Ravenwood, and Hillsboro will all have at least two losses in the district to Franklin and Brentwood not to mention beating up on one another. Centennial already has one loss and will definitely lose to Brentwood. They possibly could beat Indy and Hillsboro. Franklin's only sure loss will be Brentwood. (Trust me folks! I've seen both of them play.) If all this does take place, let the tiebreaker madness begin. Still the most likely scenario is this: 1. Brentwood 2. Franklin 3. Ravenwood 4. Centennial 5. Independence 6. Hillsboro With all this said (for no reason), Franklin 42 Centennial 6
  6. I have to agree. It's going to be low scoring because both teams will try to run the ball to control the clock. With all the speed, I still give the edge to the Cougars. I'll say it again. CHS 21 RHS 14
  7. You have got to be kidding me! There were several BETTER and more DESERVING candidates. The administration did not provide what these candidates asked for so now Indy has had to settle for Dyson. Ultimately, they will settle for a poor record and will be sitting at home for the play-offs. The downfall begins Friday. The Siegel Stars will shine!
  8. I have a feeling this one will be ugly, but I am hoping LaVergne can make a good showing. Brentwood 35 LaVergne 13
  9. How are the Ravenwood fans not smack talking about this one? Centennial is picked to be in the cellar while Ravenwood was chosen by Murphy Fair to finish third in the district. Are we still dealing with the same Centennial and same Ravenwood or have powers shifted some? Who wins this one? Thoughts?
  10. I'm not sure what Siegel has this year, but I know what Independence doesn't have and that's good coaching. If this game is close (which I don't think it will be), the Indy coaching staff will choke it away. Siegel wins!
  11. They may have gotten handled for the overall scrimmage, but any info about how the starters (1s) did?
  12. The board has been quiet about Ravenwood. Someone told me they scrimmaged BGA Friday. Any news to report? How did they do? Who won?
  13. You are basing your opinion on a 7 on 7 which doesn't amount to crap. Heck, I can throw a great pass and make completions when there is no rush. And the Ensworth scrimmage didn't include all of their starters. As far as Hillboro being a solid example by winning a state title, they were a couple of years ago in 4A, but now they are in the cellar in 5A. You gotta face the facts. Metro is struggling to find competitive teams.
  14. I understand that you may think that Hogan is out of his mind but let's look at a little bit of logic to see who can battle for the second spot. Indy- coaching will sink them Ravenwood-doesn't have the players (or coaching for that matter) Hillsboro- not a chance! Centennial- senior offensive line with track stars behind it (better not let them loose) I'm not saying the Cougars have a great shot for second, but they have as good a shot as any to upset Franklin for the second spot. On a side note, you feel better because the Rebels had a good showing against Hunters Lane after getting trounced by Smyrna? I would hope you would run over a Metro school. Franklin needs to worry about improving themselves instead of feeling good by comparing themselves with lowly Metro schools. Hunters Lane is just not a top tier team.
  15. Well I will take the bait and post the first reply. I am going to pick CHS to win and not even call it an upset. I base this on a couple of things. CHS had Ravenwood beat last year if not for a stupid penalty. RHS also got lucky with a turnover they took to the house. My other reason is this. After seeing RHS srimmage, I'm worried. They have not looked impressive on either side of the ball. It should be a fun game to watch though as I believe Centennial is not the best by no means. Centennial scores one late to take the win. Final CHS 21 RHS 14
  16. I have to agree that Indy is in a world of hurt. I have a buddy I use to work with that lives in Dickson County and has a son on the team. He told me this morning that DC beat Indy pretty soundly while last night DC's ones beat Centennial's ones by just a field goal. Centennial very well could be the sleeper while it looks as though Indy has fallen on rough times. On another note, I've attended one Ravenwood srimmage and was not impressed. For every good play there were two bad ones. I'm not so sure I would rank them third but do agree that spots 3 through 6 are wide open for the taking behind Brentwood and Franklin.
  17. Okay so Franklin thumped Antioch and I was told Centennial scored 3 or 4 times against Macon Co. without the first team defense giving up any points. What happened between Dickson County and Independence? Has Brentwood scrimmage anyone? What about Ravenwood and Hillsboro?
  18. I have not been able to make it out to any scrimmages. Did any WilCo teams play Friday? Results?
  19. Brentwood- both lines should be strong and the skills guys should compliment them nicely. Talent plus experience equals a strong run in the district. Franklin- I have question marks here. They lost some key coaches. Giving them the nod strictly on experience. Centennial- This is one of the few teams with almost everyone coming back. The experience from last year has to pay off some you would think. They can be the dark horse because the district will be down and EVERYONE will underestimate this opponent. Independence- I may be in the minority here. I'm not sure. But I think handing the keys to the car over to Dyson was a mistake. Only time will tell. Heckman is gone too. He'll be difficult to replace. Hillsboro- still need time to adjust to having to endure the 6A beatings. Plus I do believe they lost their QB. This team will improve as time goes on but they are still getting their feet wet although I think they will give the Raptors a run for their money. Ravenwood- Will they improve from last year? They weren't impressive then and I don't look for them to be much better than last year. I think they will drop off some. These are my reasons. Any replies?
  20. As the old saying goes, "That's why they play the game". I don't think Ravenwood will win either game, but they could surprise some folks. Has anyone heard anything out of Independence with THE Kevin Dyson at the helm? What about the two 5A schools? Can Centennial or Hillsboro (maybe both?) put together enough wins for post-season play? Let's get to chattin'. It's roughly a couple of weeks until kickoff. I can't wait!
  21. Mindlesschatter, I'm just curious. Are you a Ravenwood homer or do you actually believe Ravenwood will claim the second spot? I guess you could be both. I'd love to hear your reasoning. I just don't see it. I think they'll be lucky to get out of the cellar.
  22. Here are my selections and please don't bash the new guy. 1. Brentwood 2. Franklin 3. Centennial 4. Independence 5. Hillsboro 6. Ravenwood I know some picks are a stretch but Brentwood is head and shoulders above the rest, right?
