They are pretty high on the kid. He could see a lot of playing time this year. He probably will not start at first but u never know. Yes I think tomorrow will show some things that need a lot of improvement and some good things also. Especially with our center position because he is suppose to be the man because of his experience. We will see about him. We do have others that played a lot on the o line but they will be for now on D line. After some things are seen I think some players will be woke up. Remember this will show if they , some players, really want to play.

Metcalf is still there. Practice every day but one day last week and was there yesterday and today. He has a good relationship with his coaches especially his Defensive coach because the defensive coach was straight up with him and that is one reason he is still there. Funk is still there. Improvement is there but again give it time. First game not til Aug 22. A lot of experimenting and searching going on. Intensity was good today. By the way tis you are right we are not one of Hargis choices. Some Are already blowing up Jasper in the paper and already some on their sight says they will go undefeated in regular season. Oh well we will see. Guys the Pounders will show up and play harder this year with a little more effort than what took place in some games last year I believe. May not win them all but be competitive in most and win some they shouldn't and win a home game this year. Maybe 2 or 3 or 5. Will see. Have faith. Things are changing. Have a good one guys.

He must have left this morning because he was at practice yesterday morning Wearing a purple jersey playing some offense and linebacker on the D. Looked good. Through a good block while on offense. Yes the rumor that he was leaving and going to ER was out there but he stayed it seems. That rumor has been going on 2 years. But he did practice with them yesterday.

They have run between 55-62 kids. I would say closer to about 55 kids now.

The kid that Stan said was ineligible has moved and will be eligible. The QB they practice with last week was someone that has been there and played. He is eligible and probably see some play in certain situations if situations arises. The kids will be better fundamentally and some have to buy in. It really begins today. As they say, those that want to play will do it now. It will show who they are.

Mr. Vick, the atmosphere at this jamboree is not what it should be. Teams are not matched according to their ability or district. They are matched in most cases by the person or persons in charge. The prices are way to high. The teams do not even get much share if any share of the parking which is to high nor much of the concessions if any. This jamboree is not player or fan friendly. They are late on paying teams and in some cases the organizers have to borrow money to pay teams what they promised because they have not made enough of the ticket sales to cover what they promised they would pay. Sure Central did not play in this jamboree last year , because they made 1500.00. dollars more than they did previously in this jamboree. The only revenue that is given is divided up from ticket sales after expenses. Again as tis the season has said this is pointless.

He is a lot better defensive coordinator and defensive coach than we have had up there. He is getting after it with the kids and is not babying them. This is what they need. Fundamentally wise they will be a lot better and have more hustle than in past. At least they will play and know there assignments.

Once again Stan you are wrong the mural was donated by the senior class. Strange why because they were tasking pictures. You also it may have been girlfriends or mothers. It was the lady in charge of web site by the way and the other 2 taking pictures .

Look on poundersfootball.com Stan and u will see that pictures that ladies were taking on that site. They were from booster Club. No girl friends were there. So nothing to talk about. As for Coach Braswell, he is pushing them and they do not like it. He takes no pity on them and he is doing a great job. He has not hurt them. Some of them have had to work harder than they have before. There is no slack given or favorites being played. He is there on weekends looking at film and relining the football practice field himself. He is one of the hardest working coaches they have had. Teaching a lot of technique and getting them in shape. He is not hurting them. Some are not use to working. Some are having to unlearn bad habits and techniques . Ask them and they will tell u they have worked harder this year than they have the last 2 years. Hey they need this. They have not won a home game in 2 years. They are being pushed.

To all of the veterans that come and look and read coach T I want to say Thank You for helping keep this great country free. For all of you that have lost loved ones I want to say Thank You. It is because of the veterans that we can watch high school, college , and pro football. We owe all of our veterans a Job Well Done.

Any result from A/ AA meets in Knoxville today and yesterday. Who won and who qualified for the state?

Allen ticked me off when before the season talk started that he wanted to leave. Til this day players will tell you Allen quit on them. By the way do u remember the banquet and Allen said he did not want anything to do with it anymore but he did show up and stayed for maybe more tha 20 minutes then left. He did not do that own his on . He was told he needed to show up. Tis you were upset. That is right. ,He said he did not want anything to do with it. That hurt the kids and program from the beginning of the year til the banquet. I still do not see how the team overcame his attitude. But they did. I wish him luck but he hurt this program. Tis these kids are learning discipline and how to come thru adversity. As a coach u have to instill discipline and it is done at this time of year and summer. That is what is happening now. Tis I really do believe Allen did hurt this program. They are having to unteach some things and make corrections now. Discipline being one of these and other habits they were allowed to get away with. It will take most of the summer.

Tis, Fish, Stan, these kids have lifted on the average 4 times a week since this practice has started. Yes they are doing the exercises that were mentioned. The base defense is being installed. I agree Tis with what u said it isn't the coaches responsibility to get them to lift. They need to do this. However, the kids are lifting now. A coach can motivate them to lift. This did not happen before. Guess what they are doing it after school and yes it is part of their practice. Will they have a scrimmage game ? No they will not. Why because the other coaching regime failed to forward helmets to be sent in for reconditioning( re padded) they have to do every year before they can be issued and fitted and will not be back in time for spring practices. It takes 2-3 months to get helmets sent in and returned. The coaches have been the with the kids since it started and most of these kids will tell you they have done more with this work out than they ever did previous three years. Also they are having to unteach some habits that were practiced for three years. The attitude of the players desire to complete an assignment has increased and there is no loafing in the drills. Discipline is being taught which lacked at times last year. I do not know what season the holds but the attitude of the players will be better. Practice will be quick , organized and thorough. They will be in shape. They will also lift almost everyday of the summer. Some one will be there to see this is done. Opportunity for a young mans success will be given to each player this year. There is one coaching position to fill as soon as Cook gives his official notice. That postion is being tied up by him. I like him but he needs to go if not wanting to stay and word he does not. He did not want to stay after Allen left. I do not have a kid in it but do care about school and program. So far no major defections have resulted and most like the new coaches. Give them a chance. It can't hurt. We haven't won a home game in 2 years there. You will see an improvement. say anything u want to me but at least give these coaches a chance. They want to be there. By the way how is Coach Allen leading spring practice in Knoxville when school is still in session here. Has he resigned his teaching position or is he taking some kind of leave and is he getting paid for there and teaching here and not being in class? How is it done?

StanthePounderrman, you said your nephew was on team. What has he said about practice and coaches? Are they lifting any more than what they did under Allen? Is Cook still at school and is he going to Rhea and just holding a teaching position up. Also how is Allen holding Spring practice at Powell with school still going on down here and him going up there. Has he taken leave or what . Just curious. Have any kids left?

How can anyone judge until u see at least a season on the field. Heck this staff maybe better than what Allen had. You and I do not know that much about the new coaches. We all have heard things. They have at least started lifting after school and will continue this summer. At least they are working out to try to get into football shape and go for about 2 more weeks. Until the coach was named nothing was happening. Give these coaches and kids a chance and then all can voice some type of opinion. They will be one more hire maybe two when and if Cook leaves. You got to have a teaching position to be at the school. Hey guys we do not know what is going to happen yet.
