Old Pirate wants to 1st congratuate SM for a great game and a tremendous team effort. OP says while the largest majority of fans a great, THE FOCUS should be there and not on the few that all programs are often times forced to tolerate.

The Pirates fell victom to an ole back yard whupping, plain and simple. Heck, OP says them Eagles won the ball game the way the SP once won championships 3,4,5 or 6 yds at a time and kept the chains moving. Us old guys from any program can appreciate that style of play. The Eagles proved that a "total" team effort can and do win big games and championships. Thanks goes out to the whole SM team for showing what "A TEAM" can do. Respect earned tonite from a lot of folkes:thumb:

Old Pirates says the game was a great game and all who witnessed it has to agree. Fact is both teams were winners tonight regardless of what some of these imbreds say here on coacht. These youngons gave us a great show.

The Pirates didn't make enough plays to win with dropped passes, fumbles and busted coverages that nailed ther faint. Old Pirate says the Pirates as a whole need to git into shape. That cramps have become overdone. It appears most cramps follow poor performance by the player. This OP is plain sick of seeing it. FIX THE PROBLEM...

Two great teams and a great game. High school football generally has poor zebras. And you git what you git.

Everyone of them young lads deserves all of our respect. Every game has a winner and loser. Few games have two Champions.

The air is a little thinner on this Ole' Mountain tonight, the fire's burnin' tall, and its time for this Ole' Troll and the Hermit to crack open another jar.

Dad burnit, Old Pirate says congrats to ALL the SM,SP AND OTHER FOLKES for making this thread a hit this week. Cages have been rattled and now it's time to strap up the chin straps and tighten the jock straps and prepare to see some youngons ear holing each other. OP hopes for a injury free game for the youngons and hopefully some of cousin Hestor's home brew won't make some older folkes injure ther selves.

Shucks OP, I ain't worried 'bout getting hurt. I just hope my Trollette can git us back up this mountain after the skirmish. 'Cause I don't think I'll be much help lookin' thru the bottom of an empty jar.

Found out our Girls' Volleyball is playing a tournament tonight, soccer team has a game this afternoon, and Signal Mountain rec league football game tonight. HUH?!

We'll still have a bunch, and there will be a lot of innocent bystanders.

I WOULD ADVISE ALOT OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN TO SP IF YOU SEE THAT IT IS GETTING REAL PACKED TOWARDS THE FIELD TO CUT OFF THE MAIN STREET WHICH IS CEDAR AVE. AT THE THIRD REDLIGHT AS YOU COME INTO TOWN RIGHT BY STEVEARINO'S,TURN RIGHT THERE AND GO UP ONE BLOCK AND THE ELEMENTRY SCHOOL IS THERE ON YOUR LEFT SO THAT WILL BE SOME ADDITIONAL PARKING. YOU WILL HAVE TO WALK ABOUT 4 BLOCKS BUT HEY IT'S WORTH IT TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT FAST. ALSO ON UP FROM THE ELEMENTRY SCHOOL AS YOU GO TOWARDS THE HIGH SCHOOL THERE IS GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH WITH A BIG PARKING LOT AND ACROSS FROM THERE IS THE ELECTIC COOP. THERE IS PLACES TO PARK WITHIN NOT SO FAR WALKING DISTANCE. SM AND BOYD I HAVE WALKED AT LEAST THAT FAR BEFORE.

There is also little league football tonight on Signal. The mountain folks have made great strides in a short amount of time but there is still some work to do to get everyone on board. Tonight will be a good lesson in what community pride really looks like for the mountain folks.

Well I just looked at the SMMHS website and was shocked to see the girls have a volleyball game and a soccer game scheduled on a night like this. Heck, this will take away at least 50 of the 100 fans we were going to have. I ask what’s wrong with these coaches!!!! SP now might out number our fans 100 to 1. Guess it’s a good thing fans don’t win games, just look back at Neyland Stadium last Saturday night. It sure got quiet quick in the 3rd quarter.

Them folk that scheduled those games to conflict with "The Game" should of knowed better!

Me and my wife's brother will be there, though.

I think we underestimate our DEFENSES. Could be a shootout, but I think it might be a ball control game. I think both defenses will giveup some yards, but neither offense will score as much as they are used to. This will be 48 minutes of tough, smashmouth football. Whoever has the Grit and Determination and Stamina in the fourth quarter wins. Neither team has been there this season. Of course, I could be wrong.

Old Pirate says you have to be a skillet head. SP kicker is new and best of OP's recollection has never kicked a field goal.Don't rightly know but OP would bet them city fellers has got a better kicker.

I won't feel sorry for the loser. Wouldn't be suprised to see both teams in December.

SM is going to feed off of this ,us against the world thing. I think they will be pumped,to say the least. They will have to play with controlled emotions. As far as my opinion on the matter, and I'm sure no one cares, SM should not be in 2a. That being said , its not the players or the school's fault. Those kids are just like any other kids and they have worked hard to achieve thier goals,you just don't get that good by being lucky. Ijust hope both teams play to thier fullest potential and the game is as good as the hype.Should be a dandy.ENJOY

We are growing fast, and I expect we will be 3A (maybe 4A) next go 'round. Don't know where they'll put us. Might have to shuffle around district 6 & 7 AA to even them out. Either way, I can't wait to play my troll buddies at the head of the Valley.

I also expect the SP SM game to continue. Can't let a new rivalry like this one die. I ain't seen people this fired up for a game in a long time.

Grider is making the Signal people buy tickets at the school is what the paper said. We are losing money on this gate by doing this. I garuntee you that we need to make everyone buy tickets at the stadium.

I'd expect SP to get the gate regardless of where the ticket is sold. Don't worry, us SM folk will spend our money in the Pitt. We got lots of it, you know.

Recon Old Pirate will have to hope the skillet slinger feels ill FryDay so OP can find a good seat or spot to stand.....

Figure time is goin slow for most folkes with this game and some counting down the hours.

Leastways, the city fellers has reportedly been a thinking perhaps last years game on the mtn was jest a fluke with the Pirates catching the Eagles on an off day. The Eagles will come soaring from ther lofty mtn nest looking to settle the score.

The Pirates have found success this year and will certainly need all ther gun powder to fend off these birds from the mtn.

Now lots of folkes is a talking about respect and all which is nice......... but this group of Pirates have to step up to earn their respect. Can't count on past performances from other teams...........

Believe me, there ain't nobody in East Tennessee that don't respect the Pirates. Maybe some fools, but who cares about them. This ought to be one for the books.

Been waitin' a year for this one. It should be a real barnburner. Two great teams, with great talent. Coach Grider and Coach Price will have their boys ready, and I hope both teams bring their "A Game". The "Old Guys" are right about this one. It could go either way when it comes gutcheck time, and the winner will be the team that can Execute and Survive for four full quarters. This one ought to be on TV.

Havin' said that, and I've got lots of friends up and down the Valley, I do believe the Eagles are gonna come a screechin' off this old mountain, and the Pirates will feel how much our talons have grown. How's that for some smack?

Regardless of the outcome, I expect to see both teams in the playoffs; and I hope both teams come out of this one without any injuries and win their classes.

P.S. I'll be there Reeeeeaaaal early, and I wouldn't mind gettin' my hands on one of them fatburgers. That is, if some of you Pirates don't mind soshullizing with a Troll.
