State champs will mercy rule the Eagles

I agree with you on the state champs part, but we might be able to avoid a mercy rule. With the butt whoopin's Signal put on Whutwull in past, I don't expect them to let off the gas at all. :hungry: Hopefully, it won't be as bad as last year, though.

My only prediction is that there will be more Hemlock Hosers on this thread than Whutwull Tigers. :roflolk:

  2. 20-13 final. Signal switched Lowry to QB in the second half and had an opportunity to tie it late in the fourth, but fell short.

Proud of the grit that my Eagles showed in the second half. Aside from finally doing something offensively with Lowry at QB, I was most impressed that our defense held Red Bank scoreless in the secondhalf. Starting QB  just had a bad night and was out of sync with his receivers in the first half. I expect to see him put it behind him and step up after this game.

I remember the years where Hogan Whitmire and then Reese Phillips were up at the field EVERY Sunday afternoon, twelve months a year throwing every route to every receiver. The receivers wouldn't have dared not show up, rain shine or snow. Maybe that tradition needs to resume.

Red Bank looked good. Jackson didn't show any effects from his strained hamstring. Hopefully, he was able to get it healed and will have a great senior year.

  4. Was just watching UTC vs TTU online on ESPN3. In a 4th qtr lightening delay now.

I'm glad UTC is doing more local recruiting. It's really fun to watch guys like Nike Tiano(Baylor), Harrison Moon(Signal Mountain), Kareem Orr(ND), Bryce Nunley(Walker Valley), Alex Trotter(McCallie), McClendon Curtis(Central), Victor Ulmo(Baylor), Gabe Boring(Bledsoe), and many others from local high schools playing together and playing very well. Even saw Ty Boeck(Soddy) get in on some kick coverage as a true freshman. Also, lots of other guys from around middle and east Tennessee.

Looks like a pretty good Mocs team this year. I might have to get down to Finley Stadium some more this fall. Great place to watch football.

  5. Red Bank and Central both have excellent teams this year, as does Tyner. All teams deal with injuries throughout the season, and Signal has a few of its own. Calvin Jackson is an outstanding athlete, and I hope he is healthy and has a stellar senior year. There is no denying that Red Bank is a much more dynamic team when he is on the field, but they are still a tough opponent when he is sidelined.

Overall, I think Signal would be an underdog against any of the three teams listed above. However, Signal is better than most people realize this year. I think we will matchup well against Red Bank, and I'm expecting a good game.

We want a big crowd and a good gate for the game, but this is the televised game of the week on the CW Chattanooga, so anybody who can't attend can catch it on TV or record it for later viewing.

  6. Signal played better against Tyner than the score reflected and looked much better than week one. I think this team will get better each week, and I'm predicting an upset. I expect a close, hard fought game with the Eagles pulling out the win in the fourth quarter.

  7. I always pull for my Eagles and always believe that they can win any game, but stopping the 2018 Ram Train is going to be tough.

I like playing Tyner early in the season, because it usually takes them several weeks to clean up the sloppy mistakes. With the experience they have returning, that probably won't be the case this year. Signal will have to play perfect ball tonight and catch a few breaks to come away with a win tonight. It's possible, but I wouldn't put any money on it.

    GO EAGLES ! ! !

  8. Booger’s boys ain’t lookin’ too good against a mediocre Baylor squad. I wuz expecting a little more from the leprechauns. Looks like the “trenchers” spent more time in the cafeteria than the weight room. Don’t think Charles is gonna be happy with the sloppy turnovers, either. Maybe he can wake ‘em up at halftime

looks like the fans are packin’ it in for the evenin’

it would be nice to see Troll and his North Red Bank Mountain Eaglets regroup and win 4 or 5 games this year......them moms from up there at Brantlys G & CC collapsed the program into the ground by snaggin there boys away from that tuff florida coach they fired and even drove Troll into hidin.....gossip is Troll even quit ridin the mower up there

....T just ant the same w/out Troll

I ain't dead yet, Booger; and them pink va-jay-jay hat wearin' women has been sent to sammich makin' classes.

It's true that I ain't ridin' the mowers much anymore, but just keepin' the equipment runnin' is a full-time job. I just about got my diesel mechanic's license, and I'll be hangin' up the knife soon.

As fer my Eagles, they'z still a little young and weak, but things is headed in the right direction.

Them Caine fellers didn't look too hot in that Jamboree, so I think we can keep it close and maybe even pull off an upset.

Congrats to Lausanne - especially to Kevin Lacastro (head coach and AD) and Stuart McCathie (headmaster).  Unfortunately, some of the comments could come across as insulting to both gentleman not to mention the players.

Lausanne is a unique school both historically and culturally:  An all girls school (with boarding) from 1926 until about 1990.   The high school nearly closed in early 1990's.   The only IB private school in the state.  Historically limited sports culture other than basketball.  No football team until 6 years ago.  Over 25 passports represented in the current student body (yes diverse - not just admitting someone with a consonant at the end of their name).  Most folks in Memphis don't understand the school's culture much less folks in the rest of the state.  Mainly because McCathie is British and still maintains his accent.....

The academics speaks for itself.  It was strong - Then McCathie made it stronger and more unique with the IB program.

I've watched the growth of the boys soccer and football teams over the last 6 years and understand that it's an EXTENSION of the success McCathie has achieved since he arrived about 15 years ago.   I wont bore you with the details/milestones, but overall, he has been very good two things (1) articulating a vision and (2) hiring talented people which includes Lacastro.   For whatever it's worth, they won the soccer and basketball championships last year as well - maybe the "rentals" had an impact there as well.

With the exception of Webb, Baylor and McCallie, most private schools outside of Memphis and Nashville are "Price/Value schools" (see below).  So for many people, it's difficult to understand why someone would pay over $20,000 for an education.  I appreciate that but am grateful to have had the choice.

The realignment created a great year in D2 AA.  Should be fun to watch both the games and the posts moving forward!

    ISM private school definitions

Price/value: We offer a transformational (nearly always religious) experience for your child at a cost you can afford.

Product: We offer the best academic “product” (graduate) in our market area.
Process: We offer “more” for your child (more electives; more levels of electives; more teams; more levels of teams; more individual attention, and/or a unique pedagogy) than others in our market.

Gotta admit that I didn't know much about Lausanne until this year. I know how difficult the IB program is. To have DI caliber athletes who are also able to withstand the academic rigors of the IB program is truly commendable. Congratulations on the state championship and what you guys are accomplishing at the school. redthumb.gif

  11. Sorry fer yer loss, Booger. I wuz kinda pullin' fer yer leprechauns . . . sort of . . . not really . . . but sort of.

That just twernt a fair fight, though.  When I seen them men from Memphis take the field, I knew yer boys wuz in trouble.

Kinda like takin a chicken to a #### fight. Hope nobody got hurt.

Tell Charles and yer boys congratulations on a great season. ;) redthumb.gif

I'd be happy if I could just get up the Mountain more often. Ain't supposed to  be like this for us old farts. I just want to coast along, and everbody at work tryin' to rebuild my transmission. <_<

  13. Another woulda, coulda, shoulda game for my Eagles. Too many mistakes to win a football game. Don't know how many different ways there are to shoot yourself in the foot, but we've tried everyone. Sloppy on both sides, but congratulations to the Pioneers on toughing out the win.
