  1. Congratulations to Coach Josh Roberts, who was named the new varsity football head coach this morning. Coach Roberts was the middle school coach for a couple of years before serving as the varsity offensive coordinator last year. Josh is respected and liked by the students at Signal Mountain, and he will hopefully be able to rekindle some of the enthusiasm for playing football among the students.

It's hard to be competitive in 3A with a squad of twenty players. We've had too many good athletes walking the halls and sitting in the stands Friday nights. Hopefully, that is getting ready to change.

    GO EAGLES ! ! !

And this Oakland team is coached by that Creasy man who wuz at TrouserDale durin' ther latest run.

    He's a scary good coach . . . better than that Rankin man  tomatoes-1.gif

  3. Convinced huh?

Yea. I pretty much stand by my comments. But you know small town politics.

Lots of challenges facing a new coach coming into a program. I think he would admit, in hindsight, that a lot of situations could have been dealt with differently. No reason to rehash things on here, though. It is what it is, and we all move on.

I wish Coach Wise all the best in the future, and I still think he has a bright future ahead of him.

I'll keep cutting the grass and cheering for my Eagles redthumb.gif

  4. Never in my wildest dreams would I ever thought we would score almost 60 on Notre Dame. We are playing some great ball, and when we pound it and pound it teams are Gonna start laying down. Wasn't the same team as last year, Irish thought we was and they figured they'd steam roll us like last year. Said all week you stop #2 and we can win. He had a few big plays but our D stepped up especially our pass D. Speed ain't everything, so the ones who think speed kills better think again

Trust me, none of the leprechauns in the know thought they were going to "steam roll" Scrotchie. Most didn't think they would even win, unless the Injuns faltered.

The leprechauns did about what I expected, while Scrotchie played flawless football and scored a couple of more than I thought they would.

East Ridge looks to have gotten healthy and are playing their best ball right now. Scrotchie should win comfortably, but I expect a lower scoring game and a narrower margin.

  5. After about 3 minutes into the game and we were up 3 or 4 TD'S I started looking for a man with a thermos. The only person I saw with a thermos was a durn Woman. I walked up to her and said "hey Windy where is Roy" and she just turned away real fast and ran. You ain't a woman are you Roy? Now don't joke with me.

It's Wendy, not Windy; and "she" has a poll of "her" own that Roy is very fond of, if you know what I mean.

  6. Never had crow with Texas Pete before volahol...... How's it taste ?

Hermit used to always say it weren't too bad as long as you had enough hot sauce and plenty of cold beverage. drinks-1.gif

That wuz a good ole fashioned butt whoopin' for sure. I'll be back again next week to see if Scrotchie can keep rolling. I expect they will, but if the Pioneers git happy feet, it could be interesting.

  7. Guess I'm gonna have to git liquored up and go slumming in Dogtrot this week. I've got me a designated driver for this one so I can enjoy it. Don't really care who wins.

Ain't seen Scrotchie play this year, so hard to say if they have the mules to git the job done. My gut feeling is that they probably do.

The leprechauns live and die by the big play, and too many of their big playmakers are out of commission. Losing Sledge last week was a huge blow. I expect to see Wynn run the ball more this week, and Johnson will have to be more involved offensively.

    Should be an interesting game.

  8. Oh...and they ant been a Lion, Pioneer or Tiger fan on here this week

Like shootin ducks on a pond

    Booger just sayin elmer.gif

Ain't been a Lion, Pioneer, or Tiger fan on here in YEARS.

Sounds like a couple of dads got juiced up at the Low-T Center and are tryin' to git ther boys fired up for Friday night. Reality is that Region 3 and 4 are the two weakest AAA regions in the state.

I'd say Scrotchie and Red Bank should win this week. The 2 and 3 seeds are probably a toss-up.

I'm workin' this weekend, so I'll probably drift down your way to watch the leprechauns and the owls. :popcorneater:
