This is for smeagle1. Re: your previous post about rule 12c. I believe it refers to a situation like the formation of your school a few years ago. Prior to the creation of Signal Mountain HS, the children who lived there attended (?). Once your school opened, they were placed in your territory by the HC board of education. The same thing happened in Knoxville with the opening of Hardin Valley. There were kids from Farragut and Karns who switched to HV with no loss of eligibility.

Just got done looking at the Indiana HS website. It appears that the schools have given up their tenth game in exchange for all schools making the playoffs. One school (South Dearborn) had to play a school they had lost to two weeks earlier (East Central) in the first round of the playoffs. Also saw a team with no wins that played in the "sectional" last week. Does anyone know for sure what is going on?

There's more, but my memory fails me right now. From around '72 - '76, I spent a lot of time up "on the hill" on Friday nights watching football and then basketball following that. My sister was a student, and my momma loved sports.

 

I guess I should also mention -- Gaye Teffeteller; Karen Keyes ? (I was in love with her but she was too old); Robin Burchfield (was it Burchfield then, or is that her married name? I can't remember).

Ricky Kenney spent several years coaching & teaching at Scott High in Huntsville. Now is Asst. Principal at McCreary Co. HS in Stearns, KY.

Hope someone can help me with this. Back in the stone age when we sent the eligibility forms to Hermitage by pony express, there were two different forms. One was a single piece of paper with about fifteen lines. The lines, of course, were for fifteen names. This form was for the returning athletes ( those who had been enrolled for the past 365 days) and the in-coming freshmen. The other form was one page and it was for one athlete - a transfer. What does it look like online today? Being a rural school, we didn't have many transfers. But I remember the assistant principal always went to the kid's house to check on where he lived. Even after we sent in the form, we always called a few days later to talk to Mr. Carter or Mr. Childress or whoever was in charge of that particular sport. Just to touch base and see if they had any questions.

Most of the time the outcome was favorable, but not always.

According to this website, Scott High defeated CAK (at CAK) 46-44 tonight (1/25/11).

Also tonight, CoachT reports that Gat-Pit was defeated by Carter.

Your #2 is an awful strange answer and sounds like a TSSAA answer..in the old plan the top 4 teams in each Region advanced to playoffs...heck if your not in the top 4 in your Region...you don't belong in the playofffs. Top 4 went to playoffs with 1st and 2nd getting first round home games and 3rd and 4th go on the road in the first round...heck of alot better than this Z Plan Mess from you know who.

Well Hulk, I am not with tssaa. I am what is known as ROS. Really Old School. Retired educator and coach of over 30 years. TSSAA is like any other representative organization. It is, I believe, more responsive to its membership than either the state legislature or the congress. You speak of the previous playoff fromat. The football playoffs started around 1970 and consisted of 3 classes. Only the top two teams qualified. The A, AA, and AAA classes held until 1992. In 1993 the state went to 5 classes. This must have seemed like a good idea because total attendance at all championship games rose from about 50,000 in '92 to about 70,000 in '93. In '03, '04, and '05 (I think) we had 8 championship games (5 div I and 3 div II) but attendance was down to about 30,000 each year. You speak of teams not in the top 4 not belonging in the playoffs. Do you remember the name Livingstone Academy? The year they won the state AA championship I believe they were 4th in their region. They won some close games against teams in their region that did not make the playoffs, any one of which would have knocked the state champion out of the playoffs. I've also seen all four teams from one district get knocked out in the first round - the district champ beaten by the 4th place team from the other district. I'm not saying the Z Plan is perfect - far from it. But keep in mind that the plan is what the majority of Football coaches wanted. I agree, it might benifit from some modifying. I'm just not ready to see it go away without the decision of the state's coaches

Clint Abbott is correct:

1. Members of the Legislative council and Board of Control are school employees who are elected to these (I believe) non-paying positions. It is these bodies who adopted the so-called Z Plan. If the COACHES want the playoff format changed, a majority will have to let TSSAA know about it. If the two bodies do not do the bidding of the member schools, these people will be voted out at the next election.

2. The Z Plan was installed because of, I think, a serious problem. There were quality teams who were left out of the playoff while poor teams made it in. It just depended on what district the team was in. I don't believe the members (teams) want this to happen again.

3. However, the Clint Abbott I remember is too much of a gentleman to call someone a moron.

Oh, man. I loved Cas & the boys. Red Rector. Loved Looney Tunes, too. Would also loved to have seen this game. Got to see CAK & AHS this year. Both teams were very good. This second game must have been classic.

I disagree with you only because of the fact that UK is not relevant in the nation. Maybe the SEC bottom three, but not in the nation. Heisman will NEVER come from a team that can't even place top 4 overall in the conference. Randall Cobb is a player, but will never win a Heisman as long as UK is not a power program.

Here's some news. According to the TSSAA website, guess who the smallest AAA school is. That's right - Alcoa.

There are also a couple of schools now in AA that are larger than Alcoa; notably Signal Mountain.
