  1. Does anyone know where I can find a list of bats not approved by the TSSAA? I looked on their website but can't find it.
  2. Unnamed sources are now saying that the Coopertown Middle coach has been offered the Springfield head coaching position. No word as to whether he will accept but it would be a shock if he didn't.
  3. Here is the latest info on the coaching search from the local paper as of 5 PM, Monday afternoon, April 15. One can assume the remaining local candidate is the coach from Coopertown, the other from the midstate is probably either an assistant from Riverdale or Mt. Juliet, and the third candidate is named in the article. Here is the link: http://www.tennessean.com/article/20120416/ROBERTSON02/304160062/Springfield-narrows-search?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|Robertson%20County%20Times|p
  4. I totally agree with Leon. Coach Myers brought the tradition back to our program, and instilled discipline into our team. The upcoming season was poised to be the best yet in the Myers regime. I will not speculate as to why the change was made. I know there will be many who disagree with the decision. Include me in that group! I do not know who our principal has in mind to be our next head coach, but that person will have to bring in a whole new staff. The promising season Jacket fans were so looking forward too may not turn out how we had hoped. How about, in the future, school administrators administrate, and support their coaches and let them coach!! Good luck to Coach Myers, Fite, and the rest of the staff in the future.
  5. My Springfield team is home for the year, so I hope Henry County can get over the hump and get to Cookeville. A HC-Powell final would be an outstanding game. I hope the Patriots don't let the pressure of not getting past this point get to them. I don't believe Coach Counce will let that happen, though. Having seen both teams play Springfield this year, I give the edge to Henry County. Springfield didn't give Henry County any competition, and they only gave Hendersonville a little better game. GWAVE1 was spot on with his comments. Hendersonville didn't have to pass the ball much against Spfd., but when they did it was effective. They run the wing-T very well. HC has the advantage in the interior line and overall team speed. I give the intangibles edge to HC with the game in Paris. The only way I see HC losing is if the game comes down to a kicking duel. Hendersonville has a decided edge in the kicking game. Their place kicker is first rate. Against Springfield his kickoffs were aided by a slight wind, but they were landing 2-5 yards beyond the back of the end zone. Kicks into the wind were in the end zone. Needless to say, he is impressive. I would like to make the game in person, but not sure at this point. I may try to get my fellow Spfd. fan The Commisioner a call to see if he wants to ride down. Good luck to our fellow District 10 competitors in Henry County. Happy Thanksgiving!
  6. I am not inferring at all the above reasons are why we lost. DC manhandled the Jackets on both sides of the ball. I believe the effort that was shown last night was due to the reasons I mentioned. I wish our defense had played more aggressive, similar to what DC did. We were talking last night and the Cougar defense this year appears to be better than last year. Having seen both Dickson and Henry County, I believe the Patriots are better at this point. I believe Henry County is a little stronger up front and has more speed than Dickson.
  7. Injuries have caught up with the Jackets, and we played poorly on both sides of the ball. The offense never got going, and the defense never could slow down the Cougars' running game. Our only TD came on a kick off return by Brandon Farmer. Our starting QB was out tonight, we lost a starting LB during the week for the season, and Rodrigue was not 100%. Our backup QB, though talented, never seemed to get into a rhythm. Our defense tonight was as passive as i have seen all year. They didn't show any aggression early, and looked to be playing soft. DC played D like they were daring us to beat them, and we couldn't. I hope the team can get it turned around, but we need to take it one game at a time and let the chips fall where they may.
  8. The field wasn't bad last year when Springfield played at West Creek, but it was at the end of the year and it was partially frozen I believe. Thanks for showing the Jackets some respect by calling them good, Prez, I just wished we had looked the part last week! The Commisioner said you guys showed him a good time tailgating, maybe we can return the favor next tear! Good luck against West Creek.
  9. The debacle I referred to was some questionable officiating. Don't get me wrong, the Jackets made more than enough mistakes to lose the game, but there were a few questionable calls. The two point conversion try by Spfd. at the end was called no good., but the game film shows the QB laying with the ball over the goal line. No matter how the game is called, if the Jackets play how they did in Paris, they will not be able to beat anyone's middle school team. I agree with Kevin38, our health will be a big factor. Our QB will be questionable at best, and Rodrigue was out last week but hopefully he can play this week. Should be a great game, Spfd.-DC is always a hard fought contest. Good luck to the Cougars but I hope it is a long ride home for them like it was for us last year, !
  10. This game has turned into a very critical one for the Jackets. It is homecoming, and we need to get back on the winning track. How this game goes could determine how the rest of the season goes. Win and we get back on the right track, lose and our young team could pack it in for the rest of the season. We owe DC after the debacle down there last year! Besides, every Cougar fan knows it took getting a former Springfield coach to coach there to win them a state championship!
  11. Congrats to HC tonight on a very well played game. The Pats seemed to be firing on all cylinders. I wish the Jackets would have made it a game, but we never got untracked. Every HC fan I spoke with was very nice and hospitable to me, even with me in full Jacket colors. Many thanks for that! OldJacketFan, in regards to the Dallas shift, from what the coaches told me afterwards, the officials called it an unnatural motion and therefore not legal. A few of us Spfd. fans were talking during the game, and thought last year's HC team may have been better. I'm not sure one way or the other, so I will leave that for the HC faithful to debate. Either way, both teams were/are outstanding. Hope we see you again in the playoffs, but we will have to play much better than tonight to get there! Thanks again to the hospitable HC fans, glad we got a couple of scores late but anyone there knows Coach Counce could have made it a lot uglier than the score showed.
  12. I, too, am as passionate about Jacket football as the Commissioner! I know a few more like this as well. I wish our community would support our team more when we play on the road. There is a small group that follow them passionately. I hope we have as big a turnout as the Patriots did last year in Springfield, but I am a realist and doubt we do. That being said, I hope we spoil Henry County's night! Maybe we can return the favor and run the clock out by getting numerous false start penalties, LOL!! I hope that last statement is not taken as whining by Red Warrior! His Milan teams were very good back in the day(if he is who I think he is). Good luck to all the boys tomorrow night, and let's hope for a safe and exciting game! I hear HC has an outstanding facility, I can't wait to see it!
  13. As a lifelong Jacket fan, I am happy to see a great rivalry growing between the Patriots and Jackets, but in order to turn it into a true rivalry, Springfield needs to beat HC. This may not be the year, but I believe if the Jackets play their best, it may more of a game than the fans in Paris think. That being said, it could very easily go the way many Pats' fans think and be a HC blowout. The Jackets have a tremendous upside, but we have yet to play our best. I am a first time poster on here, and I love the spirited debate. I agree that the Jacket fans do not travel well, but I am looking forward to my first trip to Henry County. If the game is half as good as the debate on this thread, we all are in for one heck of a contest!!! Save me a seat, Leon!!
