  1. Mr Funk and Mr Linder may have a run off to see who the best is. LA claims to have the best RB in the state, just an FYI!
  2. Eldridge wasn't out due to an injury. He had an emergency appendectomy after the CAK game 2 weeks ago.
  3. I don't act like anything, I know nothing about your team, just telling you who to watch for. Good luck Friday night, but I'd say LA is going to be too much all over the field and take the win. May not be by much but I believe they'll take the W.
  4. Lock in on #18 and hope #5, 88, and 2 don't leave you in the dust. #2 is a freshman but has got a dandy juke move and will leave you wondering where he went 10 yards up field lol.
  5. If the "punishment" was sufficient, I would think there wouldn't be 7-8 in last 3 games as some have indicated. If its done once, as a coach, you draw the line and if they choose to continue that behavior, they find themselves on the side lines, watching instead of playing. I wasn't there so I have no idea, just going off what was stated by others. As a player and parent of a player, I and they have to control their emotions and put team before self, as it should be in respectable programs.
  6. Didn't realize that Monterey was such a rivalry, and taking on Maynard at Cook would be a game for your seniors to play hard for. I hope YI keeps LA for the rivalry reason too! Look for YI to add Scott Co back to our schedule too.
  7. Just saying even though Cumberland Co has had a terrible run the last 4 years, they would be a better game than Clay Co who's barley able to field a team, or playing White Co vs playing Monterey or Jackson Co. York would have easily taken a win at Pickett Co but went to Sparta instead. We took that loss pretty bad. Like I said, may be just good strategy on coaches part, not sure. Schedules were re-done last year with the addition on Macon Co into 8AA. Just my opinion, take it for what its worth.
  8. YI beat ya'all pretty soundly the last round (don't mean anything though come Friday night). I Felt like the DC game was more winnable and so was the SC game. Just really dislike the out of district schedule U plays to get to the 6-4 mark while other teams are playing classes up, some several classes up. Maybe that's good thinking and strategy on your coaches part, I'm just not convinced of that just yet.
  9. I like to see teams from the area advance, once we get to the playoffs, we cheer on the upper Cumberland area in all sports. But, seeing us matched up vs U again, at least one will advance to 2nd round. 1A- Monterey #1 Seed with a bye, Clay Co #6 Seed 2A-Jackson Co #4 Seed 3A-Upperman #4 Seed, York #5 Seed 4A- Macon Co #8 Seed, DC #5 Seed, LA #2 Seed 5A-Stone Mem #6 Seed 6A-Cookeville #3 Seed I'd say the upper Cumberland area is well represented.
  10. Several have mentioned the lack of discipline for U. Is this on the field stuff causing penalties or what? Just curious!
  11. Stop #18 and you'll have a chance, but good luck with that. Better hope you have some speed on your team cause #18 #5 and #2 will leave you in the dust if you don't.
  12. Who would you pull from each school...O and D? Linder would be anybody's first pick I'm sure
  13. Just having a little fun. You did give us some credit...several days after the game. All joking aside. Looking forward to a good game. Both teams with something to prove. U wanting redemption and YI has been put out in the first round the last 2 years. Should be a good matchup and the team with the fewest mistakes/penalties will take this one.
  14. Honestly can't believe you started the thread after the last round. I don't care much for the match up personally. I feel like you all should be traveling to us. It is hard to beat a team twice, but can be done. Still can't wrap my brain around a 6 place district hosting a 3 place, but that's TSSAA for ya! YI can't take anything for granted and work hard this week to prepare. Will be a good crowd I'm sure. Our seniors need to step up their game and play like they did vs LA. We took a loss, but their was only like 3 total yds difference in the game. Good Luck to my Dragons!
  15. Could not agree more!! Looks like when the pairing are from the same district the higher seed in the district should at least host. Oh well, better than driving to Chattanooga. Good luck dragons!
  16. YI has 10 seniors, the 3 in the running backs in #26, 28, & 44, WR #11, & 7, Linemen #60, 73, 77, & 88 and LB #16. Most of our line on both sides is made up of sophomores and freshmen. QB is only a sophomore also
  17. What's the second tie breaker rule?
  18. Excuse me, there just as much good and bad at YI as there is any other school system in the area. As far as tax dollars at use, we attend school were we are located, that school just happens to be State funded. For the record, us hicks in the hills up here on the mountain do take a little pride in how we represent ourselves even on a public forum. No one called you out, made you sound like an idiot or anything else. Stick to football Jack!!! Leave your personal opinions about YI off this site. Sounds like you need to start you a forum on Topix were all the other Sh*t gets posted so you can vent on how your taxes are being spent...that is if you even work and pay them. As far as being sensitive, no not really, just keeping it real. Talk about FOOTBALL, no need for that other stuff.
  19. Only going off what I seen last night. I don't know anything about CAK other than they are 4-5. So comparing them to a 9-1 team isn't a good comparison. As far as poker pokers goes, I don't show my hand but would throw you off by playing what you don't except. To keep playing deep in te playoffs, LA is going to have to have more than just Linder. He's good, really good, but not many one man teams, like last night, are going to get far. Just my opinion though, take it a far as you can spit I guess. 8aa is just much weaker than LA, but it's prob the biggest school in the district too. Not sure about that, just guessing.
  20. Eldridge was out due to surgery last week. Hollers and Hayes both had passes thrown to them a few times but were either over thrown or dropped. Re-read my post, I said we couldn't stop Linder.
  21. No sure where the padding the stats came in for Linder, he's a one man wrecking crew in 8AA. If that was the case, I believe they would have left him in just a little longer to get him to 2000 yds. I will say this, impressed with Linder, with LA, not so much.
  22. Linder is an excellent athlete. I'll give him his fair credit due, we couldn't stop him, that's for sure. Is he the best in the state...I'd say that's a stretch. He single handily beat YI last night. LA is above the rest of the district and have proved that week after week, so not taking anything away from that. Turing point in the game was right before the half. YI just couldn't help themselves last night, fumbles, bad snaps, botched fair catches, and trying to arm tackle. As far as LA having too many athletes for anyone to handle, I only saw just one, and when they face another team that can match his speed, they'll really be tested. Looking forward to next year, when 3A plays more 3A teams and LA will face more 4A schools as it should be. This district is so messed up, 7 teams with 4 3a team, makes it tough playing half your district games against teams a class higher. Some will argue that doesn't make a difference, but taking a school with 650 students and a school with 1000 students is gonna give you a better athletic pool to make a team. I will say this for our Dragons, those guys never quit, they kept playing. They are much improved and have a lot to be proud of. Beginning of the season, we were at 1-4 and these guys have battled back to make it to 5-5. Coach Wright has made a huge difference in this team and would like to wish them the best during the playoffs.
