  1. I agree winning is important and I am not saying throw the ball every play! We have run the ball well against inferior competition, but what has happened when we play 4A playoff caliber teams? As I mentioned in an earlier post, we need to use all of our weapons to do any real damage in the playoffs. #21 was vastly underused last year and that cost us a win or two, but I am more worried about this year and the playoffs. We have the talent to go a couple of rounds deep in the playoffs if we will utilize ALL our talent!
  2. You are correct on the Smith County game, but that is one game against a team in a smaller division. We have not been near as successful running against White House, Greenbrier, or Goodpasture. I repeat in order to be "great" our team is going to have to throw the ball in addition to running it. We can be happy to go 5-5 and sneak into the playoffs, or we can reach our full potential and utilize all our weapons (#22, #87, #81) and maybe make some noise in the playoffs. I can't figure out Pebblestick. Are you the new hire by the school board to patrol the internet and make sure no one questions the almighty Pemberton??? This is not a negative post, but what message boards are for. Again, he has done a good job and the boys have played hard. I was just expecting more out of a "great" coach.
  3. Hollering...no, but in a 3rd and 24 situation I did wonder why we didn't throw the ball instead of running yet another QB draw! We do have a good coach, who has been great when he had superior talent (private school) but what has he done since he left there??? I believe his record is somewhere around .500 since then. We have a good ball team this year. I believe we could be great if he would open it up a little more. Last year we did throw too much, however this year it is the other way around. We should be looking for a 50-50 split and we would be better than .500 and prolly be around much longer in the playoffs. I don't know why you guys get so upset when someone posts something on here. We have had good coaches in the past and you guys never got on here and defended them this way.
  4. Yes they probably would have went 0-10 again. The problem was in the weight room. We played with boys, while our opponents played with men. I am not going to point blame on anyone for that problem, but you can look at this team to year's past and see how much harder they have worked in the weight room. Without the training these boys went through over the past year and a half, Pemberton would be no better than 2-8.
  5. Unbelievable turnaround??? Macon County was 0-10 last year with a bunch of sophomores and juniors. Everyone knew there was going to be considerable improvement this year, especially after watching spring practices. 5-5 (should we win) is a good mark and Pemberton has done a good job (especially with limited time), but I believe the potential was there to be 6-4 or 7-3 had Goolsby hung around. The Tiger nation owes much of this year's success to Goolsby, Watson, and Dyer for getting these guys in the weight room during the off season. As for the game, Macon wins 14-0.
