  1. Not sure if you guys remember me but I am back on here after a long hiatus. I have returned to apoligize to all the Maryville Fans out there. My last post was basically about excuses and ways the game could've turned out in Smyrnas favor. In reality I was being a sore sport so i will offer my apology to all. Maryville you are a fine team and I hope to see you next year against a Mr. Mathers hopefully. i know this post is unrelated to the topic but i hope you read it anyways because I was defenitely wrong.
  2. I understand that but saying you wouldve scored 21 more points I dont think you would have. The adjustment Smyrna made at halftime basically ended the option play. Yall were getting hit almost as soon as you got the ball in the backfield with the exception of the last drive. Look Maryville won and did what they had to to win I understand that but people saying they weren't impressed with Shs sound dumb. You got whooped pretty good in the second half and 9 out of 10 times you would lose that game in that situation. So I guess maryville isnt very good either then. I mean you guys are making excuses for why you didn't play well the second half and you won. I dont get it. It seems like insecurity to me because you know in the second half you didn't look very good. Fact is you breezed by and a more disciplined team like Blackman would beat yall there. I say Blackman because I believe they are about equal with Smyrna but you wouldn't matchup well with them at all. Now obviously they werent there but I'm trying to prove a point here. Now you did deserve it I'm not saying you didn't because you did. This is not trying to take away from your team but to knock some sense into your posters. I mean I feel like we were watching two different ballgames or something. Maybe somebody slipped me something in my drink that made me imagine a different world but yall make it sound like you dominated and that was certainly not the case. If yall are going to use excuses as the winner as to why you didn't win by more then I will do the same thing. Deon Meadows best LB in Tn arguably. If he plays you lose. Bye Bye Board bash away. Done!
  3. The backup QB thing is getting beat to death. I wasn't going to say nothing but Smyrna had there two starting LB's out and had a corner playing LB so lets stop with the backup QB crap.
  4. This may make some mad but after watching Smyrna and Maryville last night I don't think Maryville would beat Ensworth. They do not match up well at all with Ensworth and I think Elder would run all over them. Just My opinion though. I think Ensworth Alcoa Maryville Smyrna Blackman Greenville Columbia.
  5. Congrats to Maryville! Very fine football team you guys have out there. I was impressed with the way they tackled and the way your offense was ran. Your coach knew Smyrna's weakness right off tackle and exploited it all night. The only other team to do so this year was Ensworth and it worked for them as well. Smyrna's D last night did not look like Smyrna's typical D. I believe the threat of the pass had Smyrna playing on there heels more than attacking. As I said in an earlier post in middle TN. teams do not throw the ball much and good QB's are usually just good rushers so I believe that had a lot to do with it. I do think Meadows not playing def. hurt Smyrna but you probably couldve ran the same thing just to the other side. He would've made a dramatic difference though I mean hes our best player. No excuses though you did what you had to when it mattered and Smyrna didn't. Now as for Smyrna JB you played your heart out buddy and I hate to see you go but I can't wait to see you strap it up on Saturdays and show the big east what your about. To Deon same thing man wish you could've played but I realize you have bigger fish to fry and couldn't risk hurting it worse. To the rest of the seniors thank you for four great seasons and giving us a lot to cheer about. As for next years team lick your wounds and get ready to stop mathers and Davenport next year as that is the only chance you have of getting back. Sign off.
  6. First off congrats to Alcoa a very fine football team you guys have over there. And yes I agree with you. How did that team make the state championship? I'm not here to bad mouth them but man they were scared to tackle. I know Alcoa has big backs but man at least try to dive in front of them instead of avoiding them and blocking yourself. I could've ran against that team tonight.
  7. I will add this too. If Maryville played Alcoa to the end then I know what to expect coming in tomorrow. Were going to have us a war (not that it was in question). Thats a very good football team I watched play today. I do think Smyrna could play with them though so it seems tomorrow is going to be an even match. Probably won't be back on here till after the game when I give congrats to both teams so I will predict 28-24 SHS but could be the other way around. Good luck to both teams tomorrow and hope to see a good injury free football game. Last but not least Go Bulldogs!
  8. They seem fairly similar really. Smyrna may throw the ball a little more but, really Alcoa never had to throw the ball much so they may throw more if they had to throw more than once without scoring. Alcoa runs a wildcat package some. Smyrna has yet to do that. Running backs are a bit different. Alcoas are big and powerful-Smyrnas are smaller and quicker but still have some power especially Kece Fleming. Not sure if Alcoas rush D is as good Smyrnas and I don't think they are quite as fast on the edge but its very hard to tell on TV really. I noticed Alcoa struggled a bit with some pass coverage-Smyrna also has struggled at times with it but have also been good at times. If you take away a few bad mistakes then GP would have had maybe one or two more scores. Would still not be a game though. All in all there not a whole lot different I don't think but, in a non competitive game its really hard to judge. Not taking a crack at Goodpasture but they seemed about like Siegel from our area. That would be a close game I think.
  9. But yall going to the state championship every year does? And how yall were one tackle away from beating Alcoa that Ive heard a detailed re-enactment of about 4000 times this week from Maryville fans? All that matters?
  10. Look my friend I am not here to start any trouble. You have to realize though that the underestimation goes both ways. People saying Smyrna has one or two players or well Maryville has seen it all like Smyrna hasn't. And the 7AAA thing to me just means it is deep from top to bottom. Not always that the winner is going to come from 7AAA every single year hands down. Thats obviously not going to happen-Unless your the SEC. Some may be underestimating Maryville but not me. The Maryville team I saw with Tyler Maples was very very good and you may have to be that good to win Saturday. Your coach is probably the best coach in the state I get that but, its not like Smyrna hasn't played against elite coaches all year. Phillip Shadowens-Blackman has two championship rings, Oaklands coach won state 2 years ago, Mt.Juliet's coach won one with Portland I believe, Aydelott won one with I want to say Hillsboro,Crawford I believe is his name from Brentwood has won at least one, Beech won one last year. So its not like were not used to adapting to gameplans as well. Now I understand none of those coaches have sustained a team for that many years but its awful hard to win state without a good coach.
  11. Yea I hear ya. I like to live my life by the five F's. Football,Family,Faith,Friends, and fishing. There in no particular order it all depends on the certain user.
  12. Yes your right we do have to have something to talk about and I do think it will be a heck of a game. I must also admit I get more nervous now being a spectator with no control over the game than I did when I played. And to both teams remember football is not the most important thing in life but it is the third most important. So give it all you got and if your better you will win.
  13. Yeah I mean at the end of the day both teams have one more game to play and the games before don't really matter anymore. It does look like Maryville beat teams the way they were supposed to so you can't hold that against them. There are lots of other questions to be answered on gameday like- How will the Meadows injury affect(sp) Smyrna's D, Will Maryville's Line be good enough to keep Smyrna's backs and qb in check, Can Smyrna stop Maryville's passing game, and who wants it more? These questions will have nothing to do with who they played in the past. A tough schedule does help teams fight through hard times and not hang their heads. At this point though both teams have seen their fair share of hard times and shouldn't have any trouble bouncing back I would think.
  14. There schedule was much softer than Smyrnas. Thats not hard to see at all. But there is nothing maryville can do about that. They make those schedules in advance and no team can know how there schedule is going to be until that season. I don't think there schedule was weak just not as tough as Smyrnas. Does that clear that up? Can we put that part of it behind us. This is starting to remind me of a Blackman SHS thread.
  15. One or two players? You don't get this far with one or two players. I hope that Maryville's ball coach thinks Smyrna has one or two weapons offensively. I'm not saying Maryville won't win because honestly I haven't seen them play a lick. None! Zilch! But Smyrna having one or two ball players is far from the truth.
  16. Well I haven't seen Alcoa play so I couldn't make a good judgment on that. I do know that they are probably really good though. Either way this should be a game for the ages and I am glad it finally came down to these two playing for it. May the best men win.
  17. Its harder to tackle what you can't catch. I also think that people are thinking Bryson is going to be like Devrin and I think they are quite a bit different. Now I may be wrong because all I have seen on Devrin is highlights. He seems to me though more of an outside the tackles type of back. Bryson is more of an inside the tackles kind of guy. So if everyone is expecting a back like Devrin they actually seem quite different. Just my opinion on him though. If I am mistaken please let me know. By the way I'm not saying anything bad about Devrin! So Please no one run me out of town. It's to easy to make people mad these days.
  18. Ya Smyrna is fast fast fast fast. Maybe the fastest team I've seen defensively with my own two eyes. I would have a hard time believing he would outrun them but, he may break enough tackles to keep the play alive and make throws downfield.
  19. Wow! I'm gonna feel sorry for any running back playing against that lineup of LBs. My goodness.
  20. you know I wouldn't feel so bad about it if Meadows was playing and Bryson was for sure 100%. Meadows typically brings a great pass rush with blazing speed but that obviously won't be a factor. Jeremiah does a great job of cracking heads and flys to the ball. I think he will be 100% though. I do think however that Smyrna will be able to move the ball on Maryville as well but not in the air as much as on the ground. Heck who knows though we will find out Saturday I guess.
  21. The running doesn't worry me that much. The passing yes in fact I'm a bit worried about that. We are not as used to seeing good QBs in middle TN because everyone just runs the dang thing.
  22. You didn't make an enemy with me and I didn't mean for it to sound like that. If you want my honest opinion the best player wasn't even nominated. I'll give you a hint he is a great Running back/slot receiver and one heck of a defense player. He wears purple and gold and lives in Smyrna. Now I don't think he is a better running back than those two but boy he sure is one heck of an all around football player.
