  1. Do you have to slam Chuckey-Doak while bringing down an Elizabethton fan? I'm not sure that's necessary....
  2. I've said that Carmichael is an awesome player, too, but I don't recall degrading anyone else when I said it. You're right, I've not been on coacht very long. Does that mean I should get a life again? Since my team is out I probably shouldn't even read about football now. Hey, I don't even live in Greene County! I guess I'm so tired of hearing how weak the county schools are that I take things personally. And personality, oh I've definitely got one of those!
  3. Sorry, but I do take it personally when you say a derogatory comment about my Black Knights...as I'm sure you would about your Devils. I think I'm a pretty good reader and not only that, but I can spell and use proper grammar too! What a concept!
  4. BTW, Science Hill in Johnson City no longer accepts out of zone students...

  6. Just a quick note on that...according to TSSAA's website, Alcoa only has 550 students enrolled this year. That's nearly 300 less then EHS...
  7. You're right...no wonder the song "Glory Days" was and still is so popular! But I'm probably showing that I'm much older than you by recalling that song! Never played football...the only field I played on in high school was the softball field...now that was awesome!
  8. Apology accepted and thanks for the compliment for my alma mater! I appreciate that some GHS fans aren't like CoachTFlorida. And I still keep up with this stuff even though I don't live in Greene County and haven't for over 20 years! Maybe I need to get a life...LOL!!
  9. I thought that's what I had read. And anyway you say it, Carmichael is fast as lightning! He sure opens up a lot of options on offense which certainly helps the other offensive players out. I agree that GHS has lots of talented athletes on this years team, but he has to have made a huge difference. I have only seen GHS play one game this year and the only game I saw last year was the state championship game on TV. If GHS doesn't win state this year I'll be surprised. Their defense must be even better now than earlier in the season to have held Fulton to 0...
  10. DevilMan03, on 13 November 2010 - 10:58 AM, said: he was in cocke county b4 he was in nc. he is livin w/uncle cause he had bad family troubles. this is a better place fo him Actually, the Johnson City Press had a feature on Willie Carmichael early in the football season. Maybe they were wrong, but they said he now lives in Greeneville with a cousin...last name was Moore I think I remember. Was that incorrect?
  11. Sure have...impressive! I never played football but I sure do love to watch!
  12. What does that have to do with my question? I am trying to understand why Elizabethton and Greeneville are not in the same division. I didn't realize that the classifications are two years old. I believe another Greeneville person stated that GHS wouldn't want to play 3A since it's a tougher road to the championship. I didn't say that but I did read it...at least that's what budkilmer said. Why wouldn't anyone want to defeat the best competition? I don't get that...
  13. Thanks for the answers. I guess I didn't realize that Greeneville would not want to play 3A if that's their correct division. With their enrollment being so close to Elizabethton's I just didn't understand the difference in classifications. I still wish I knew the enrollment parameters that determine classification. And if it's true that 4A is an easier division than 3A, that's just bizarre! To be the best you have to beat the best, right? One would assume that with more students/athletes to choose from, you would be able to field a stronger team, but that must not be the case, huh?
  14. My team got beat last Friday, so this question is purely innocent: what is the cutoff for enrollment to determine if you're 4A or 3A? According to TSSAA, Greeneville's enrollment is 848 and they're 4A, but Elizabethton's enrollment is 821 and they're 3A. Does Greeneville's enrollment of 27 more kids bump them to 4A? If so, maybe they should "close" enrollment to tuition or "out of zone" students like some other schools (Johnson City) have done so they could play 3A. But then I looked at Alcoa and their enrollment is only 550. Just wondering if that wouldn't be possible... I haven't seen a listing that explains what the enrollment ranges are to determine classification. Can anyone tell me where to find that? Thanks!

  16. I think you're right...it definitely was this season and I do believe that was the first time that had happened (but some of you may remember further back than I do). All 4 county high schools + GHS won their games! How awesome was that?
  17. Where I come from in Greene County, we were taught that the opposite of "strong" is "weak"...that's where you called your opponent (CDHS) weak. Or did I read that wrong? Quote: "If we play a first half against a strong team like we did tonight we will get blown out". I took that as you are calling CDHS weak...you were saying that when you play a strong team, you'll get beat badly but since you were playing a lesser "weak" opponent you managed to pull out a win. If you didn't mean it that way, that's how it was worded. Anyway, no matter what I am very proud of CDHS and the other Greene County high schools that had winning seasons and I'll be pulling for North Greene to do the same! And since you weren't the one predicting the 42 to 7 blowout, thanks! There are so many EHS and HV people posting on here it gets a bit fuzzy at times! LOL!!
  18. Huge fumble turned the CDHS/EHS game around...and in EHS favor. Surely you remember that? I'd say until that happened EHS fans were a little worried...
  19. I know...there are so many variables that I don't know the answers to! But I'm still proud of the fact that 4 of the 5 high schools in Greene County made the football playoffs this year. That's awesome no matter which team the "county" champ actually is!
  20. I wonder what the tie-breaker criteria are, too. Since CDHS and WGHS (both 7 - 3) had better records than SGHS and NGHS, should it come down to a tie-breaker of head-to-head competition between those two? If so, CDHS beat WGHS...I like my spin on that one![/b]
  21. I think TC was trying to pay GHS a compliment?!? Are you just not used to someone from the county system being nice to GHS? Does the superiority attitude blind you to the fact that TC was making a point that it's quite impressive that 4 of the 5 high schools in Greene County made the playoffs in football this year? Just wondering...because I don't think there's any doubt that GHS was the best team out of Greene County this year. And hopefully NGHS will get their program to the playoffs soon, too. Granted, 3 of the 4 didn't win their games last night, but there's many schools that didn't even make it that far. Not sure how many other counties can say the same... Since the rivalries exist more between the county schools as they have for many, many years, I'm not sure GHS wants to be in that mix! LOL!!! It gets pretty intense...I mean have you ever been to a CDHS vs SGHS basketball game??? It doesn't get any better!
  22. And no comment about the intentional grounding penalty? LOL! That was on CDHS side of the field so perhaps you couldn't really see what happened?!? Anyway, as I stated earlier, overall I thought the refs did an okay job. And you know I didn't even see the "push" you're referring to. I do recall that play but didn't realize that ball was "catchable". I thought the EHS receiver was too far from the throw...I just thought the throw was off. Funny how you only see the things that your opposition gets away with, huh? Don't you just LOVE high school football??? I sure do...
  23. I agree that there was some sloppy play by both teams, but it bothers me that many keep referring to some of the playoff teams as "weak". Do you not realize that those kids worked hard to get to a 7 - 3 record this year? Most probably don't even realize that CDHS has had very few winning seasons in football in their entire school history of 50+ years. And then people are still calling them weak. You won the game, so congratulations, but please think before you keep putting down your opponents...they are a bunch of 15,16 and 17 year old kids just like your team. Had I said all week that CDHS was outmatched against EHS? YES MORE THAN ONCE BUT I NEVER SAID ANYONE WAS WEAK! Did I really think we could win against EHS? I sure hoped so but deep down I knew we were up against a team that would probably pull out the win, but it sure wasn't a blowout like many had boasted about. As I said eaarlier, I'm proud of our team this year...just be proud of yours and stop running down the team(s) that you play against...
