  1. That’s true but penalties were big for both teams...and they’re part of the game. Good game though.
  2. Definitely not a blowout game! After watching EHS play SH I expected a blowout by GHS. That’s why you play the game I suppose.
  3. Well so far the answers to my question were that you diehard fans are alumni of both respective schools. Thanks for the responses. Enjoy the second half!
  4. Good game so far. Where did all of you diehard GHS and EHS fans go to high school? Just curious.
  5. I was at the game and didn't see anything malicious at all. I honestly thought the ump was saying something to the first baseman at first as he completely stood in the baseline instead of just tagging the base and ending the inning. As for the second NG pitcher hitting two OHS batters, that was completely unintentional. If you watch high school baseball, you realize this is part of the game sometimes, especially when batters crowd the plate. I didn't hear any laughs from the third base sideline as it appeared one of those hit batters was hurt and that's never a good thing to see. The whole thing was blown way out of proportion by the official and was critical to the outcome of the game. Life's lessons are sometimes unfair. My kids have had to deal with that many times already and it really is hard to understand, but it makes you grow from it. Rant over....
  6. I just heard today that the Saturday district tournament games are at Cardinal Park instead of Indian Trail Intermediate School. Just wanted to pass that along. I don't know about the rest of the schedule though.
  7. I think NG surprised a lot of people this season. Also, everyone knew Hampton was the best and the rest were fighting for second place. Good luck in the regionals to all four teams from Region 1A!
  8. SH girls and boys varsity basketball teams both scored over 100 in the same night last winter against Davy Crockett HS in basketball. (The margin of victory in those two games was HUGE!) Seems to be a pattern here...
  9. North Greene 18 to 5 over Hancock County.
  10. AlumnI01, wasn't the game played at Daniel Boone's gym?
  11. Really? Why so many freshmen on the SH team this year? According to the JC Press, DB, TN High, etc., don't dress any freshmen on varsity. That's quite interesting. Is there a lack of talent in the 2400+ student pool at Science Hill, or just a lack of interest? Back to top
  12. To add to this, Sullivan South moves to 4A next year, as does Elizabethton and Unicoi County. I'm not sure how the TSSAA is going to align these schools for their regular season games either, but it will definitely change the playoffs. With South Greene moving down to 2A, I'm curious to see how the BRAC is set as well.
  13. North Greene starts several underclassmen, so look for them in the next couple of years, too. I hope they represent Greene County well. Go Huskies!
  14. While I agree that the pitcher didn't produce the 7 runs that CD scored with his pitching, if the opposition were pitching a different pitcher perhaps CD wouldn't have scored all 7 runs. Isn't that why you use your best pitchers in the most critical games, to keep the other team from scoring? But the rules have been in place for years to protect kids' arms. It's just unfortunate that this happened like this.
  15. Actually, I didn't even make it to the game. I'm just glad the girls won since the boys team didn't have a very good year. And I'm not sure, but I think CD hosts tournaments often due to the geographic location. Even CD Middle hosts the single A teams. I have no idea who the officials were, but it's my understanding they are supposed to be from a different region, like in football playoffs but I could be mistaken about that. I did see Grainger play CDHS in the district finals, and I was quite impressed with that team. And their post player who is usually a top scorer didn't even play that night, so for CD to win against them is a big accomplishment! I would suggest that if visiting schools were treated badly, they should ask their athletic director to report that to TSSAA. Not sure that will accomplish anything, but at least your school will be on record that you were treated inappropriately. Just a suggestion...
  16. Way to go Lady Knights! After seeing them play Grainger in the district tournament, I was pleasantly surprised by the regional final outcome! Congratulations Coach Frye; it's great to see pride in the girls team.
  17. How many player ejections last year? Again, what is going on???
  18. Why so many technical fouls? Where's the pride and discipline for the Knights this season? Disappointing to say the least...
  19. He got injured early in the game (1st half), tried to come back in, and was limping badly so he had to sit out the remainder of the game.
  20. I was at the Greeneville vs Science Hill game, and all I can say is that Greeneville outplayed SH in every aspect of the game. It's part of sports to have games that just don't go your way. When these two teams play again in February, we'll see what happens. You never know...that's why the games are played....
  21. If you go to tricities.com you can find the list of weekly winners there. The other two kids from Greeneville/Greene County to be named Players of the Week this season were Tanner Stewart (GHS) and Julius Montgomery (CDHS). Congratulations to all three of them and special congratulations to Dalton Boles for being the overall winner of Player of the Year!
  22. I realize this thread is about 2012 football, but I just wanted to congratulate CDHS' Julius Montgomery, GHS' Tanner Stewart and WGHS' Dalton Boles on being chosen as Watuaga Orthopaedics Players of the Week this season. Also, a big congratulations to Dalton Boles for being chosen as the Watauga Orthopaedics Player of the Year! Considering the other players in NE TN and SW VA that are in competition for this award, that's something to be proud of.
  23. Sorry, but I couldn't resist replying. Even with my county school high school education, even I know that the correct use of the word in bold above should be their, not there.
  24. I find it interesting that even though my CDHS Black Knights made it to the second round of the playoffs (and lost the 2nd round game in a close one), nobody gives any other players on that team much credit other than Juice. Mind you, he was the key to their success, but don't you figure that some of the other guys were pretty good too? It does take an entire team to have a successful season, right? Just an observation....
