  1. That crow looks a little dry- do you have any A1?
  2. I am here to eat my crow. I didn't get to see the game, but the result is enough for me. Congratulations on moving on. While your team is very good, I still think some of your fans are not very classy. I'd imagine there is a similar cross-section for any team's fan base though. Good luck in the semifinals.
  3. I guess the rubber meets the road tomorrow then. You guys talked plenty of junk this week- so we'll have to see if it stands up. You can expect some heck if by some chance Gibbs does win.
  4. You've got a defense full of D1 talent? That's interesting- I don't see any Rivals pages out there for any of these 5 star athletes you all have.
  5. The mistake you are making here is thinking that Gibbs is in fact a one-man show. I think Hibbett is a great back, but to me the real key is Chris Legg. His best asset is reading a defense and making the right read in the triple option- if Hibbett is an engine of sorts- Legg is the driver. He is shifty as a runner and he's got a better arm than most uneducated fans think. However, it really comes down to the line of scrimmage. Gibbs offensive line has made a living blowing up the trenches this year- and if they continue to make gaps, it won't matter who they have hitting the holes.
  6. You say that Gibbs won't score much at all on the Devil D and it's a fact? A fact is something that is proven, like 1+1=2. It has happened before. The game hasn't happened yet, so I'm afraid you don't have a fact. Again, you continue to argue about how Fulton scored a lot on Gibbs. I haven't argued against that. Greeneville held Fulton to 0 points, however, Fulton's offense has been up and down all year. If you had seen my long previous posts, you would see that. I feel like my arguments have been circular because you keep saying the same things that I have already made a point against. Fulton had up weeks and down weeks... there wasn't much consistency to their season. Gibbs has been consistent offensively- so long as Chris Legg has been the QB. While I can certainly appreciate your Jeff Foxworthy pun, I think you're overconfident and need to respect an 11-1 team coming in.
  7. First of all gentlemen, I'm not exactly a Gibbs fan. I've been to a handful of their games this year- I went to a few games for a couple of other Knox area schools as well. I guess where I come from though, you don't have to act like a schmuck to make good conversation about a game. Maybe that's how you do things in Greeneville though and I just can't get with your way of life. So I'm sure my sentiments don't speak for the Gibbs community since I'm an outsider who just happens to think they've got a fighting chance. What I do know is that you can think you're going to win- and win big- but you still shouldn't act like jerks when you're trying to express that. Secondly, we have the same 'FIRE-SNOT' chap who continues to put words in my mouth. All I said was that Gibbs offense has been potent all year- and really the only comparison available in terms of offense was Fulton. Both teams put points up on Fulton. Is Greeneville likely to give up a lot of points to Gibbs- yes. Is it a sure thing that Greeneville will keep Gibbs from putting up a bunch of points? I would suggest that it isn't. Or at least it isn't as sure a thing as you all seem to assume it is. The point is that as soon as I try to suggest anything different from what you all believe in your biased minds- you throw it out and try to discredit me by twisting things I said to say whatever you want them to. I said that the game could be interesting- and you say parity. I don't know if there's parity, but I do know that Gibbs offense has been potent all year with Chris Legg at the helm. Therefore, they've got every right to be as confident as you have given your season. Sincerely- good luck on Friday and the rest of the playoffs should you advance. I'll be pulling against you all the rest of the way.
  8. Yeaaahh, them thar Gibbs boys ain't got no chance. I mean goooooodnnaaawt, ain't nobody got no chance against Greeneville. Again, a fine line between confidence and arrogance. We'll see what happens. Also, to the poster who asked where the Gibbs fans were: why should most Gibbs fans want to have a conversation with a group mostly comprised of people who aren't even respecting their team? Personally, I think it'd be good medicine for this group to get humbled; if not by Gibbs- then somebody else.
  9. You're talking about the defense, which if you read my previous comment, you should be able to understand that I wasn't defending Gibbs' defense. However, Gibbs did score 43 points on Fulton's D- 8 more than you did. The only games that Gibbs scored less than 34 points were games that QB Chris Legg was out most of the game (Austin-East and Sequoyah). I guess since you said that Greeneville stops the run continuously and the pass also though, that Gibbs clearly will not be able to score. Maybe they should schedule Hoover(AL) next year with a flawless defense like that. By the way, how many teams has Greeneville played that actually know how to run the triple option effectively? My guess is zero.
  10. Gosh, sounds to me like we don't even need to play the game this week. Let's just skip it since it's a foregone conclusion, right? There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance. You may have Carmichael, but don't forget that Gibbs has a very dangerous back too. Gibbs defense can be had, but their triple option has not been contained all year. I'll agree that Greeneville seems likely to win, but if Gibbs can put up numbers like they have all season, things could get interesting.
  11. A 20 point victory for a team playing at 10-1 Gibbs? LOL who can take that seriously? Gibbs 35, Scott 21
  12. Well, I'm no Sonny Moore. I'm just a guy who has watched both teams play.
  13. In reviewing Greeneville's schedule, I do not see a team that exhibits Fulton's athleticism. While Fulton has 4 losses, I would say that two of their losses were to teams that Greeneville would lose to (Alcoa and Powell). Fulton has the ability to be very competitive and I expect Fulton to surprise Greeneville and make the game very close. If I were an oddsmaker, I'd place Greeneville as a 13 point favorite (10 on a neutral field).
  14. The game played about as I would have expected. Gibbs attempted to keep QB Legg out of the game and instead start the sophomore backup, #18 Kennard. While I'm sure that he will have an opportunity to be a good Gibbs QB in the future, he does not make the reads quite like Legg- and he is not as elusive. I would imagine that at half with a 0-0 score, Conley did not want to risk the season on resting his starting QB (who I believe had a neck/shoulder-related injury). Legg came in to start the 3rd quarter and left early in the 4th with his team up 28-0. It's amazing what a difference the QB makes in that offense. Next week Gibbs will play Scott County. So long as Legg plays, I expect a Gibbs blowout as Scott narrowly defeated Claiborne, whom Gibbs defeated 34-0 during the regular season.
  15. Guys, as someone who went to several of Gibbs games this year, I can tell you that if Gibbs QB Chris Legg plays (injured last week vs. Austin-East), Sequoyah will be unable to keep the game close. Gibbs runs a triple option, similar to what you would see Georgia Tech run on Saturdays. Legg was injured in the early 2nd quarter of the game- and is a big part of their running option game. Stopping the run against teams that run more traditional offenses is one thing, but the triple option, when run well, will confound unfamiliar high school teams. If Legg plays, I fully expect Gibbs to score in the ballpark of 40 points. Generally speaking, Sequoyah has not faired well against opponents of considerable talent. I would project Gibbs as a 21 point favorite if Legg plays; a 10 point favorite if he does not. As an aside, Gibbs is 9-1 and undefeated at home. Their only loss was to Fulton, who finished the season 6-4, but had losses to Alcoa and Powell (teams that most any team will lose to). Fulton possessed the athleticism on offense to score on Gibbs' defense enough to overcome Gibbs' own offensive onslaught (43 points). I'd just like to point out that I highly doubt that Madisonville fields the same type of athleticism as does east Knoxville.
