  1. Wilks was suspended for the Alcoa game. Brad Merritt (I think thats how his name was spelled) started at least the Alcoa game. Someone can correct me if Im wrong but I think he was replaced by Nick Giles.
  2. I dont believe I ever said AE didnt win now did I? hmmmmm?
  3. I feel bad for Chase and its not an attack on him or RebelRon but people can always name off State title QBs for Alcoa and then they get to Chase and say "that other guy" or "whats his name" haha.
  4. Knowing what we had leaving after last year, once I saw the schedule come out I said Alcoa could very well be the first 5-5 regular season state champion in a long time if not ever. At the time I didnt know what Cleveland, AE or Fulton had/has but knew we were in for a battle with Maryville and Greeneville. Its been mentioned before though, Maryville in '00 dropped the first 4 games of the season and then went on a nice lil state title winning streak. If we play together and play well, Alcoa can and probably will still be sitting in Cookeville.
  5. Nobody isnt NOT respecting AE. When they play disciplined, they're a very good team and they got the win...its in the record book for them. However, nobody can deny that the stats and game were lopsided. I believe 7 Alcoa turn overs. Nearly 400 yards more total offense and Alcoa Defense never gave up a touchdown and AEs offense never scored one. Its exactly like someone described it earlier, everything that could have went wrong for Alcoa....did!
  6. Maryville is by far the best coached team (ill say it till Im dead) as well as a very good team. A loss there shouldnt hurt. As said, the AE game, if it could have gone wrong it did. If you look at every stat except the score and turnovers you'd bet your life savings that Alcoa won. Greeneville just put a beating on us. Im not even going to blame injuries because outside of Koko I think if we had everyone else we'd still lost. The score might not have been the same but Greeneville is legit.
  7. Im not worried about this anymore. I could care less what a bunch of fair weather arm chair fans think about me. However, I didnt want it disrupting the coaching staff....After speaking with one of the coaches (most people fail to realize when you're a Tornado once, you'll always be a Tornado and will always have the ear of the coaching staff if needed) They have assured me, as I expected that they could care less what anyone has said on a message board and that Im perfectly OK and entitled to my opinion and that (this certain coach) hasnt talked to me in awhile and would like if I come down after a game. Which I agreed to because Ive also said Im going to shake the hand of Mr. Peyton Wall and do everything possible to see if I can help him in his development as a QB in any way. Just cause Im a fat boy that rode the pine, doesnt mean Im not a fat boy that road the pine that doesnt know a lot of people!
  8. I dont know anything about West Greene...If Greeneville plays like they did tonight though, I hope we get to see them when they play in Cookeville in December. They seem a little one dimensional with only a running game but when it works it works. They put the ball in the air just enough to keep the running lanes open. I think a future Greeneville-Signal Mountain game could be a game of the week.
  9. No excuses can even be said. Greeneville just brought it tonight. I saw the youtube clips posted and thought "Dang, they look huge" then I saw them in person and didnt think they looked as big. That O-line played BIG tonight. Games are won in the trenches and Greeneville dominated on both sides of the ball. Absolutely stoked that Alcoa went to the air more. Growing up on Bill Walsh and the West Coast Offense...I love when teams sit back and air the ball out. Wall looked good throwing the ball tonight but being just a Soph he's still got some growing to do. I have to admit Im extremely excited to see what he can do over the next few years. I think the big Mo switched over when Alcoa dropped a sure fire TD pass on the first play, went 3 and out and then down by 2 scores. Thats a lot to ask to come back from. Off topic, to the 1 1/2 men that did have the "guts" to come up to me an call me a "piece of s*it*", "a disgrace to Alcoa football" and a "fat boy"....I applaud you. Hints why I said Im going to shake your hand....and did cause that takes "guts" to say it like a man and not hide behind a keyboard. As for anyone else that didnt have the guts?......Guess just start ignoring my posts from now on, cause I was in the stands 15+ years ago and Lord willing, Ill be in the stands another 15+ years.
  10. Now see...That's twice on this topic someone said its a good idea...if nothing else just to try it....Why is it when I mention it in "other places" on the forum people get butt hurt and say Im calling Coach Rankin a bad coach and dont support the team.
  11. Sounds like we got Rocky Balboa vs Apollo Creed going in Greenville and Tommy Gunn vs Union Cane in Crockett Co!
  12. Always like when teams get new unis...Any idea what they look like? Im still waiting for alcoa to break out some Grey unis one day. Kinda like Oklahoma St
  13. Is it not possible that Catholic is just "off cycle" so to speak. I mean all teams have great periods and bad periods. Maybe they're young. Maybe they're just not talented. I remember times when Alcoa was 6-6 and 3-7....Maryville losing 4 games in a row...Sure they won state but thats a different story. Good teams cycle through stages all the time. I wouldnt put too much thought into it.
  14. The only "Pros" that I see is that it would limit travel times for teams. I dont know WB or Heritage schedules the past few years but Alcoa has had to travel all over Gods creation to pick up ball games. The excuse I always heard...I dont dont know how accurate it is, is that when one of the 6A schools lose to the smaller school it doesnt help their team any. But if they beat the school, since they're still a smaller school it still doesnt help them. Which I completely disagree with the statement......hints why Im not sure how accurate it is, as Alcoa and Maryville both have proven you and win and lose against different size competition and still be competitive. Ive also heard its had some things to do with the "swapping of coaches" more or less a few years ago but its all whatever to me. Id like to see the county title be brought back but the people that pull the strings need to get over whatever they're on first.
  15. Do Like ive done...Just add them to the ignore list where they dont pop up anymore. None of them have the...uhhh.. "manhood" to say anything to your face so they'll just keep doing it online. If you dont read it, you dont respond and if you dont respond it just bugs them more. Yet you move on with your life.
  16. Alcoa hasnt really used the passing game much at all but thats neither here nor there anyway. Spreading out the field will at least open up the holes for the running game though. I know all of second half Maryville dropped 9-10 in the box on Alcoa and played Man coverage 80% of the time. Would have been interesting to see a more balanced attack. I guess it was just too early in the year for it though.
  17. I dont want it to come of as "bashing" (although I know there is at leas one person here that Im sure will try to twist my words) but Id really like to see William Blount and Heritage turn the corner with their programs. I know WB has seemed close a few times and then kinda fall back and Heritage has just been off for so long. It makes you proud to see the local kids all over doing well. Maryville will and always will be Maryville. I think until the big three (GQ, Ellis, Gaylor) Maryville will always be a threat. Even without them they might not lose much but GQ might be Immortal and out live everyone else anyway lol. I think Alcoa will be fine for the regular season. The only hiccup on the road I see would be against CAK. CAK has the better O but Alcoa has the better D so I would lean more towards a close low scoring Alcoa win but as we saw a few weeks ago...anything can happen. Hopefully as the season goes more guys will come back from injury. Also hopefully we lose the slippery hands problem we've had the past couple games. I know someone will complain about this but Id really love to see Oggs play some as a slot receiver. Personally I feel Wall has the more accurate arm but Oggs is just too much of a beast to not be on the field. Once Vee returns have him in the backfield with Chapman/Turbyfill and then spread the field out with 3 WRs in Ferguson, Warfield and Oggs...you have double threat with a passing and running game. It will open larger lanes up for Vee as well and will force teams to not stick 9-10 in the box on us like Maryville did. The deeper into the playoffs Alcoa goes I think the scores and games will become closer. I still think Alcoa has plenty to win and 8th straight but they're going to have to play A ball and limit mistakes.
  18. Im going to assume that Greeneville has "field turf" and not "astro turf". Astro Turf is slippery as heck if its wet. Its a totally new feeling going from grass to astro turf. Ive never played in the rain on field turf but it feels more natural like (obviously) so Im not sure how rain would effect its condition compared to grass. Recently, extremely well. There have been times we've out numbered the "home" team.
  19. Holy mother of Pearl!!!! Someone FINALLY.....FINALLY....FINALLY gets it. I was really starting to question peoples education. Oh and for the record, I have no fear of being "excommunicated" as you put it cause A LOT of the fan base only started rooting for Alcoa when Little Jimmy started playing. Once they're gone they'll go back to just reading scores in the news papers Just run down some photos of the 1999 6-6 season. Those Alcoa stands werent packed and you could get to the game in 2nd Quarter and have plenty of room to sit. Amazing how once you starting winning the fans come out huh?
  20. Didnt really have a choice, i paid the money to go. I was long gone by 2002 though...well not long gone but gone.
  21. Nope, Im an out of zoner...I made the choice to go to Alcoa myself.
  22. I would love to pick the brain of GQ and Coach Ellis and Coach Gaylor. I have no problems with Maryville dropping 69 on Heritage or any other team. As the ol ball coach once said, "Its my job to score...Its your job to stop me"
  23. Ive never said a bad word about George Quarles. Sorry if you've misread something. Now you can stop trolling and get the thread back on topic.
  24. First is you're not your....secondly if he has a problem with it he can send me a message and talk to me about it. If you're not happy about either of those, since you apparently know who I am.. You can some say something to me about it sometime. Dont be the internet bully hiding behind a keyboard.
  25. I didnt know sitting in the middle of a stadium with hundreds of people every Friday night for 15+ years was hiding. Guess thats why I never got that Gov't job huh?
