  1. Does anyone have any info on a bracket or the times and dates of the tourney? Any information would be greatly appreciated
  2. The coach sat a few players until the tournament since they had already had the 4th seed in the tournament.. They had nothing to gain or nothing to lose
  3. Theres really a slim chance of anyone in this district making it to state. At substate they will face teams like Bolivar and Liberty Tech which will make it very difficult.
  4. whites creek by 15.. i doubt the game will be as close as everyone expects it to be
  5. Yes he should be on this list. Saw thi kid at the East Lit Christmas Tourny which he won MVP of. He's a heckuva player and to hear that he was just a sophomore makes it even more amazing. Can pentrate, draw fouls, has unlimited range. Will be a sight to see come his senior year.
  6. Agree in a close game with little time left, a more experienced senior laden backcourt usually will pull out the win than a sophmore backcourt. Younger players tend to have more pressure on them and make mistakes. I told yall that it would come down to guard play and at the end the more experienced guard play came out victorious.
  7. True.. I think Lipscomb, Pearl, and CPA will finish 1-3 and those were just my predictions on how they would finish come the end of the season. And so far thats exactly how it is looking with Lipscomb pulling a 1 point win out against Pearl Thursday night i think it was. And yes everyone plays the same amount of istrict games. Go to preps.tennessean.com and just go to any of the teams basketball pages and you can see their schedules and results. And in earlier posts people were arguing over CPA and FRA and whos better and will finish higher. Both lost to MLK now whom just pulled out their first district win this week. I know CPA didnt have Z but that doesnt show up on the record. A loss is a loss. I was at the Civitan when they had him and beat MLK. THe reason for the post was to see how people thought the district was going to turn out seeing that anyone can beat anyone on any given night.
  8. The only Brandan Wright I've heard about is tearing it up at UNC right now. I agree with Slater and Gerald being on the top players list but I dont know where in the heck you come from saying no one can beat him off the dribble. I've seen him plenty of games as well as played against him and he definitely can get beat off the dribble just like any other player can.
  9. If i had to go off right now what I've seen i'd have to say 1. Lipscomb 2.Pearl Cohn 3.CPA 4.FRA 5.MLK 6.HFA 7.Ezell Harding This will be a crazy district tournament that could have many upsets. Hume Fogg already played tough with Lipscomb(6pts) and Pearl 2x(lost by 6 and on 2 on a buzzer beater. Lipscomb has played mediocre against weaker teams like Goodpasture and Ezell and won by 2. Thats the top team and last two teams thats hung with them. CPA beat the same Goodpasture team by 40 and Ezell by 31 but they lost to MLK earlier in the season. All in all, the top teams are playing close games and losing to the "weaker teams". This shows why this is one of the toughest AA districts if not the toughest in the midstate.
  10. i agree.. they have enough big bodies in brad hunt and mcpherson to match up wit Z. Z is making himself a force in th post in the district no doubt, but a good combination of a 4 and 5 man can offset a very good center.. look at what florida did with horiford and noah to offset greg oden.. also lispcomb is very disciplined so i predict them to win by about 9. they have better guard play also with caleb clayton and josh slater.
  11. Yeah he really was. You could really tell who was the more experienced team tonight also. Im beginning to think that this Antioch team may be a little overrated. They really dont do any plays or anything. They're out there just creating for themselves or throwing it in to McAdoo and praying he scores. I didnt really see no defense out of them tonight either except for a spurt in the 3rd quarter against whites creeks reserves.
  12. Whites Creek should win this game. If Josh Eddy and Demonte Harper can stay out of foul trouble the whole game then they should win. Whites Creek cant afford to get their only 2 "big men" in foul trouble because they dont really have a good post on the bench. Antioch is a deeper team though so they can afford to have players in trouble. I say Whites Creek by 9
  13. Lipscomb gave BA more than its moneys worth today.. They actually won behind 28 from Josh Slater.. Lipscomb University looks like it will have a bright future with the signees they had in this game, excluding Brian Wight who is injured
  14. Keith Ramsey(siegel) and Jeremiah Crutcher(Hunters Lane)-Okaloosa Walton JC Kirtiss Brown(Hume Fogg)-Also at Freed Hardman Lindal Yarborough(Hunters Lane)-Clark Atlanta John Hopson(MLK)-MTSU-walk on Jeremy Saffore(Hillwood)- UT-Chattanoga Vincent Davis(Pearl Cohn) and Jamal Morris(East Lit)-Motlow CC Jeremy Williams(East Lit)-Columbia State Wil Peters(Whites Creek) and Codye Hatcher(Antioch)-Laurinberg Prep Dominique Rouse(Whites Creek)-Chattanooga State
  15. aw yeah and also coach nollner(whites creek coach) did call a timeout in the fourth quarter up 2 with like a minute left on a 1-0 fast break with josh eddy. it was just a combination of turnovers and bad decisions for whites creek that lost this game
  16. True it was a good game. whites creek had thee game won up until the fourth quarter. This just shows that basketball is a sport where every minute matters and mut be played hard. i think whites creek was up like 12 at the beginning of the fourth before they started turning it over and taking bad shots. but hats off to mceachern on a great win
  17. with the press they use he has a chance. he is on the inbounder on their press and off of rebounds or turnovers he is usually the first down court for easy baskets. he had 3 breakaway dunks against hume fogg with no hume fogg player across half court
  18. i could see how you said that jamie is the catalyst but id have to disagree with calvin. these two were neck and neck in middle school but since calvins acl injury, h has kind of fallen off in basketball.. i think the unsung player on their team is josh eddy. he rebounds the best, is arguably the best on ball defender(jamie is better off ball and anticipating steals) and also scores on the few plays and touches he gets. Also we cannot forget about demonte harper. he hasnt really played to his potential much this year but once they all get clicking, whites creek will be even more dangerous.
  19. I wouldnt say that they are the most talented team in the district but they are up there. Yes they have Rashad Mason in the post but besides him, they dont have a consistent second leading scorer. The little point guard(JoJo??) does nothing but shoot 3s, and juniors like Wayne Cox and Deaunte Mason have a bit of a mid range game. The thing that kept them in games last year and will keep them in games this year is hustle and rebounds on the offensive end. They crash the boards with the best of teams. They really dont run plays either. They seem to just be out there playing. If u have a decent team with a motion offense and can rebound very good offensively and defensively, this team can be beat with no problem.
  20. its not that he's ranking hume fogg ahead of anyone in particular.. he's just saying that they're better than a 2 win team. they've hung with the best teams in the district nd were beating them all late in the games and just dont know how to put it all together to win. come district tournment time and region times, its team like this that could make alot of upsets. I mean they were beating pearl 10-2 after the 1st and at half time too before losing it in the fourth... they were leading lipscomb at half time and a good portion of the game too and these are the top two teams in the district arguably.. so for a last placed team to almost knock off the top two teams, hume fogg cant be that bad!! they just need to learn how to keep playin the same way a whole 32 minutes
  21. Oak Hill has like 3 or 4 basketball teams but the team yall are talking about might not be the same oak hill team liberty plays. I dont know if it is or it isnt im just merely stating the facts
  22. I gotta agree... They are the best two ive seen this year in the midstate
  23. White House defintely isnt one of the top AA midstate teams. And MLK isnt either. Without Steven Jamison, White House isn't really that good of a team with the exception of Gaines and he isnt even that consistent. And to have a like 0-6 MLK team as the 3rd best team in the state isn't correct either. They aren't even the 3rd best team in their district. They have yet to have a player outside of Gerald score double figures so if u stop or at least contain Gerald you can beat MLK as seen by FRA,which finished last year like 5th or 6th in the district.Lipscomb should be at the top of that list as should an up and coming Station Camp team and Sycamore.
  24. I agree.. The lost of CJ Davis,Zach Frey, etc hurt them this year. i saw them over the summer and they arent that good at all. But all these teams now have their basketball players back from football season (Ex. Lipscomb- Hunt McPherson, Pearl-Both Masons, etc.) and district play starts this week, with the exception of MLK and FRA,so we'll see who's predictions are on point
  25. Last year in the regions, district 9AA swept all four games against district 10AA with Hume Fogg losing to eventual champions Liberty Tech and David Lipscomb losing a close hard fought game to a loaded Bolivar team. How do you all think the district will play out this year though. My predictions are 1.)Lipscomb-Arguably the best startin 5 in the district 2.)Pearl Cohn- Young but very talented group of players led by Rashad and DeAunte Mason 3.)MLK- Lookin bad right now but with Doc and Gerald you can't count them out 4.)Hume Fogg- Team who plays good at times, bad at others. Sleeper out the district. 5.)CPA- Hunter Miller and Zeke should contend and hang close with many teams this year. Good up and coming program 6.)FRA- Showed against MLK last night that they can play with anyone. Consistent play during the season can move them up higher on the list 7.) Ezell Harding- Loss of leading scorers Aaron Duke and Carl Gettis hurts but Brandin Hardin should step up and fill in for these losses
