The first game of the second session is at 5:30 the time here. So it has to open at least 30 minutes before that. They want everyone to buy cokes, popcorn, and shirts and shorts before that!!!! So you've traveled back from Memphis BlueNWhite for the game. I am impressed. Is your dad or mom coming over to stay the night?

Maniac, we are here in the boro with the team. I am at the motel dispensing keys as parents arrive. The team and coaches are gone to the gym to soak up the atmosphere and get over nervousness of the place. They are pumped and ready. Mr. Lambert is here. Kylie is in good spirits, being around the girls will keep her going. Thanks for the compliments on Katie B. She says she is ready and doesn't care that this team is highly favored over most, she knows most people did not think they would be here now, so all of this is "gravy." Central seems to be on two year cycle here, they played here Katie's 8th, 10th, and now 12th. With the returning upperclassmen and freshmen, they might start arriving even more regular. We throw the ball up in about 6 hours and play the game!!!!

Alright, let's move on from the facilities discussion. The McMinn School Board is currently taking bids on the major renovation for the 40 year old heating/air system and a 6 room addition at one of the elementary schools. It has been in the local paper several times. It will be exciting to bring this up to where it needs to be finally but the mess and inconvenience will be strong for several months as all of this takes place. It is still a nicer facility than many I have been to this year and over the past years of basketball. I agree with the earlier post, let's talk basketball. With the youth of Livingston and Central both it is very likely these teams will meet again, and again for the next several years. This is always a first class ballgame between excellent ballclubs it would be good to add to the regular season. Both are well coached and despite some instances here or there that are being stated on this forum, have first class fans that follow the teams faithfully wherever they go. I love the socks by the way. I think the last time we met up they were bright yellow and purple striped. You guys need toboggans to match!!! I might even invest in those!!!

And the second half saw 11 called on us and 2 on you alsoat one point. Two of our girls fouled out including the lead scorer and 4 other girls left on the floor had 4 fouls, so yes it was definitely very even, maybe even tilted more in LA's favor. Things usually even out in the end.

The last time our two teams played K.Beechboard was Ms. Tennessee. I know she played some basketball then I heard she was going to take a year off. Is she playing now and if so where?

What grade is Matthews in? She really stepped up when the others on the team needed a leader. Number 20 that hit the first two three's and then another bucket, I believe she had 10 of first 12 points, who is she and what grade? If Matthews is senior who has signed her?

Oh yes, she will be there and usually arrives before we do. She has always been at everything starting in second grade basketball leagues.

Thanks for all the games of support MC Maniac!! I hope you will be able to see them again. I thought you may have moved over there because you knew some of us would probably be intense in the heat of the action.

All year I have been waiting on someone to pick Central for something, District, Region, substate, etc. Even yesterday I believe MCHSballfan was the only one that was weighing in for Central. Now I see some believers. Come on BlueNWhite, get with us let's go to the boro. 2 year ago motto "We believe."

Does anyone else know the rankings of the elite eight? Hillcrest, Ezell-H, Austin East I know was up there somewhere, Jackson NS, York, etc?

Thank you Maniac! She shot 100% from the 3 point and free throw line the first half. I am very proud of her. She had 42 family/close friends there last night cheering her on for the last night in that gym. 28 points is the highest she has ever scored too so that last night was special for her and family.

The decision for Katie B to attend Central was common knowledge her seventh grade year before Joe Young ever taught or was thought about at Calhoun. It was not a decision against any coaching staff or faculty of McMinn, it was just her parents desire to have their child attend a smaller school vs a much larger one, a decision that has never been regretted. As far as the refs, everything is always going to be subjective. I thought a couple of fouls against Katie B were incorrect, but as aggressive as she plays she had some that did not get whistled, so it usually evens out. I thought especially the lady ref was consistent, she appeared to call tighter than the two men, but I thought she especially did a good job. I am proud of this group of girls that many have never give a chance for this year's success. I feel this is going to be a regular trip for Coach Morgan & Young for the next few years as basically this young team continues to improve. Livingston A. is a great team. Number 10 (?) is fantastic. What a night she had bringing her team back into contention the last half. She basically took control of the momentum of the game. I hope she remembers the great things she did in the game, not the loss at the end.

Congratulations Cleveland. M. Central will be joining you there and rooting for you. I am especially proud for Simpson and M. Davis who used to be maroonandwhite girls in elementary days.

Well, I predicted 5 of 8. I was hoping to see Tyner make it. Their Williams is a phenomenal player and both coaches appear to be class acts and all of our people (Central) were rooting to see them there at the big show too.

I have not had access or found the last AP rankings for AA girls. Can someone post them or the ones they know. Now that we are down to 16 it would be good to see who is highly favored with rankings and who are surprises.

Substate picks: Hillcrest McMinn Central Seymour Harpeth Jackson NS Austin East McNairy Central Tyner In just 5 hours or so the sweet sixteen will become the elite eight.

This group of girls from McMinn Central have the exact record as the team two years ago that lost in the state finals to Livingston. They are 28-7, just like two years ago, then finished up 31-8. That year we met in the finals with K. Beechboard showing everyone why she was the top pick in the state. The game is played at McMinn Central at 7 p.m. in Etowah, Tennessee, tomorrow.

Congratulations to you TnWarEagle on your daughter and all of her very much deserved awards and college scholarship. I am proud of her and the quality of young lady she is. H. Jackson keeps me informed of all her accomplishments. I hope she remembers T.Marymount days fondly!!!

I think the committee did well in picking the all tournament team. I think MVP could easily have gone to Tyner's K. Williams who is just phenomenal, but I know it usually and probably should go to a member of the winning team. It could also easily have gone to Kylie or Katie. I feel Katie was a calming influence and stepped up when fouls took two starters away. Her leadership has been strong for the girls all year and I am proud that Kylie is getting some time at point to have a smooth transition next year when Katie graduates. I think that is smart of the coaches. Kylie had I think 5 more points then the other Central girls, so it could go either way and as a freshmen Kylie is great and responding well to what I know is a lot of pressure for someone just starting a high school career. This is just another in what will be a long procession of awards and recognitions that she has worked hard for. I am proud that when the Kylie's last foul was called that Katie went to all three refs to argue that she fouled the girl first and the call should have been against her. I feel the two charges Katie B took followed directly by two huge 3 point baskets by Katie Hearn changed the momentum back to Central and reassured them that they would win out, just as Katie H., Mindy, and Kelsey McNutt stepped up against Cleveland in that foul marred game. Hopefully, the winning ways will continue this afternoon.

Central girls and boys both claim the district championship.

Question. When is Cumberland and Stone Gap going to be officially split? What will the approximate sizes of the two schools be? Does that mean that one AAA will become two AA teams? If they become AA teams which District will they put them in? 5AA already has 9 teams and 6AA has about that many.
