  1. Central had a good game against Brainerd. They are very athletic, fast up and down court, but Central pulled away from them in the 15 minute jamboree, plus Central played all 13 girls while Brainerd went 7 deep. Walker Valley wore Boyd Buchanan girls out. A school just making it up to AA does not need to be paired to an obvious AAA school plus one that could easily go to the state for the second year in a row. Ironically, the Boyd boys beat the Walker Valley boys by one in their 15 minute frame.
  2. It's getting too late for me, I will turn entertaining and confusing the youngsters over to you.
  3. Kiley did well and I felt Jordan hustled after about getting her head knocked off a couple of times fighting for rebounds. Leading you away from your favorite group of players I thought McCaslin did well and Katelyn Bivens showed some strong minutes off of the bench.
  4. Wow, that will send them into overdrive!!!
  5. Come on Montana. I feel confident on your hidden guise and also coach's. I am still pondering AA rules. This is getting to be interesting.
  6. Coach, were you at the AA jamboree tonite? If so, thoughts? For girls team and boys?
  7. Well, we must have bored or scared AA rules away, or else he is lurking. Hoping to hear info on the gym use. Maybe later.
  8. Much better. I did not think that was a comment you would make or meant in that fashion from when we've discussed basketball. I agree having been there for years that some coaches give it all, regardless of talent and work to improve talent. Others are having to coach to fulfill their job requirements. Then hope the new teacher hire in will replace them as coach.
  9. No coach, AA rules is not talking about summer camps and such. He is alluding to something else I think. I agree with your last comments though, that coach shows he cares about the kids and the community and works hard for northern Bradley and southern McMinn area. You will not be able to work D.Tucker.
  10. I hope your comment about elementary ball is joke is just sarcasm. If you are serious you are insulting many players all across the county that are putting in daily practices from September until tournament time in January, not even starting with the parents, coaches, principals and everyone else that has to dedicate time and effort. How many of these young people will look back at elementary ball as their "sports career?" We need to give our young people more opportunities at different sports instead of ridiculing those we have. Soccer at elementary level or serious softball would be a good start.
  11. You meant Buckley instead of Biddle passing up McMinn going all the way to Walker Valley. There are also 5 boys on W.Valley varsity that live in McMinn County. Beside the Simpson girl, another Calhoun girl is playing on Cleveland's team, Michelle Davis. Tiffany Buckalew was also a Calhoun girl that landed at Cleveland and then Bradley while Housley went to Central. A couple other Central players could easily have landed at McMinn but travel to Central. Coach Morgan is doing a good job with the freshmen, but using them wisely will bring them in as they earn the time and prove they can compete against varsity players. Kiley is there. Simbeck, Jordan, and J. Davis are earning good sub time and working their way up. AA rules your comment about Calhoun gym is interesting. Where is your info coming from? I am trying to figure who you are.
  12. They are a great group that I enjoy watching. The top 4 will see many quality minutes on the floor this year, especially Kiley. Then wave two next year. Johnny better be making more room on varsity.
  13. I hope they do well this year. But I have heard every year from J. Smith's time there to before how strong they will be but it does not happen. I know the Hicks will be strong as well as Barham that has already signed with TWC. They lost Cobb and J. Price and that a Nelson boy quit this week. Have they lost anyone else? Who will help Hicks and Barham and company?
  14. I agree that it hurts when you see any player after years of extra practice and efforts in summer leagues, camps, workouts, etc. end it. Is she a junior or senior?
  15. I look for Tyner and Brainerd girls to give Tellico and McMinn Central plenty of competition this year in 5AA. Central plays Brainerd in Jamboree Monday night so that will help answer some questions. Tnwareagle, has the Wells girl joined the Bradley team? How did Sandlan end up at Walker Valley?
  16. Chelsea is an excellent soccer goalie, but she loves basketball, I hope this is rumor. Cleveland is always well coached and aggressive. The Simpson girl ranks there with J. Pickel and the Butler girl of Walker Valley in my opinion. I remember when Pickel and Butler were playing AAU ball for Marymount and Simpson was a student at Calhoun Elementary. They all deserve the success that has come their way.
  17. Cleveland and Bradley will duke it out for number 1. I see Mcminn at number 4 probably. Walker Valley went to substate last year but moves up this year to AAA so here comes the big jump. They lost several players but B. Williams usually gets alot out of the team. They will fight hard for fourth place I feel.
  18. At a playday today I was told the Wells girl left Cleveland and went to Bradley, if so that will give Jackie some much needed support. I also heard Kerri Simpson hurt her ankle and will miss a couple weeks of practice. Any truth to these?
  19. Chelsea?? She had a good spring and early summer playing AAU ball in several tournaments with a team composed of 1/2 McMinn and 1/2 Central girls. Why work on that then leave? Is she staying at McMinn?
  20. Most of the early reports I have seen have Cumberland and Cleveland at the top with McMinn and Walker Valley interchangeable at 3 & 4 with Bradley 5th followed by Rhea.
  21. Who left and who will step up to take their place?
  22. Sorry MCHSfan, just more optimistic. I see 4 returning starters that have improved over last years 16 or 17 win season and want to go farther come tournament time then just the region. Only two of the starters are seniors so the outlook will continue to improve for the blue and white as the younger ones gain experience. I am confident in the leadership and step up ability of the 4 returning starters. I see 4 very strong freshmen including one starter and three others in the next five that will provide much needed bench strength. November to February and tournament time is a long time. A lot of maturity will happen as a team. Johnny and Joe will get them there if anyone can, you know that. Tomorrow at Walker Valley will fill in some more blanks. Maryville Heritage is a top notch team that shows up anybody's weak areas. I wish we scrimmaged M. Heritage all the time to continue to strengthen things. At this point I am praying for all to stay healthy, unlike last year's devastating loss. That is the major worry I have at this point.
  23. I look forward to watching Central ballgames this year. They have talented seniors and juniors that are good leaders for the talented freshmen group. They are determined to be competitive with all others and go much farther in tournament play this year then last. I think this team will improve continuously as the season progresses and Coaches Morgan and Young will have them ready for tourney time. As far as superstars and talent, there is one freshman that would rank up there with the three talented young ladies that started as freshmen a few years ago and are all playing great college ball now. Those three college players were excellent players in all sense of the word and continued the Charger pride and striving for excellence which continues with this group. I also happen to know that the upperclassmen players are all very solid students and young ladies that will take them farther than ballplaying does for anyone.
