  1. Mr. Postman said here's my address and phone number. That's some Gonads gentlemen. Classic! Mr. Postman, I'm a Portland supporter, but you have my support too. I really respect lthe coach you are referring to and I think he is a great coach, but you are entitled to your opinion. You know what they say, everybody's got one and most of them stink.
  2. I have watched both teams play. The pitcher from Coalfield is fast and has crazy movement on the ball. She is the real deal and hard to hit. Beech hits so well they could hit a BB with a toothpick. I think Beech will win because Coalfield's offense struggles and Beech will get hits agianst Coalfield. Beech will score about 4 to 6 runs.
  3. The fact is Portland is now drawing from 2 middle schools just like Gallatin, Hendersonville,Beech, and Station Camp. Since the spilt, the combined records of the two Portland Middle schools is 24 and 18. That is a winning percentage of 57%. The only teams they play are the ones that feed GHS, BHS, HHS, SCHS, and WHHS. Not saying they are world beaters, but saying they are weak is a false statement.
  4. Portland wins going away. Portland's offense has been good, but the better athletes they have been facing have been able to take away explosive plays. I forsee Portland having the athlete advantage, thus breaking the big plays that have been lacking so far. If Portland can break big plays for scores then they will eliminate their chance of shooting themself in the foot and ending drives, which has been a huge problem thus far. They just haven't been able to sustain a legnthy drive and punch the ball into the endzone. Here's to a good game. Hopefully the sportsmanship is high and the train horn is LOUD!!!!
  5. I am not discounting your thoughts, but could you elaborate as to how they are better? I know we where 1-9 this past season and mostly everybody had a better record, but what makes them better other than record? I wasn't trying to downplay this team, just stating that they sound like a better chance for a victory than the Hendersonville's, Beech's, Mt. Juliet's, and Gallatin's of the world. Sorry if I mispoke, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers.
  6. Very true about the lower program's success, or lack thereof, not always computing to what the high school program's success will be. However, my point was that with good coaching and good talent there is hope that Station Camp can continue to be competitive. I think everyone agrees that they have a good coaching staff. The objective for them is to create a good high school team with the talent available. Also true that HHS and GHS have to work their majic with the incoming players they get. Their feeder schools have lacked success for the majority of the last decade but they always have a good product at the high school. What it boils down to is that coaching plays an important role in the development of a high school program. HHS and GHS are prime examples of that fact.
  7. Station Camp shouldn't have to wait long. Their Freshman class this year was huge, fast, and nasty. From what I heard their 8th graders were really good too. Two good classes back to back could lead to more success. Their coach, regardless of the spelling of his name, is a really good coach. They never went through that "new school, everybody's whiping boy" phase. They are just another reason why I feel Sumner County has some of the best football and tradition in the State.
  8. When you have 4 State Championship game attendees from the last ten or so years on the schedule it's gonna be an uphill battle. (Greenbrier, White House, Beech, HAndersonville) I like the idea of playing 6 home games, if the Panthers can win a few games then the home attendance can surge and the program can earn an that extra gate money. I am hoping that Portland can be competitive and beat some of the lower classification teams on the schedule. I would hope that Clarksville Academy is a o brainer win, but with the Panthers past history, I am not holding my breath.
  9. Someone said earlier that the Columbia line would wear down the HHS line....... They obviously haven't seen the front of HHS's O and D. If the boys from Columbia can wear down HHS then they are all stud's. HHS is big, strong, and most of all athletic. The two ILB's in HHS's 50 defense can go sideline to sideline as well as stuff anything you bring up the gut. If you wanna play Big on Big against HHS you better bring a full lunch and some leftovers from last nights dinner too!
