  1. Got to think the Owls take this one. Outside of the top 2 teams the rest of the region is in a semi-rebuilding mode or trying to find out what kind of team they have this year. The Stars are breaking in a new QB and trying to find an identity. I think the speed and athleticism of the Owls run by Siegel this week.
  2. Agree it's fun when they play, but as long as they keep coming into Rutherford Co pulling players from these programs they won't willingly invite them in unless it is a last resort kind of thing to find games.
  3. Just give it time....they'll show up as long as you didn't cuss anybody. Already scheduled Hoover, but I don't think that would work. If it was me I would have put it through a shredder and sent the pieces back in an envelope.
  4. Kreager tweeted out that BG has sent a check to Blackman backing out of their return game this year, giving no explanation. Well, it's obvious what that explanation would be and they don't want to say it publically. That is they do not want to risk their win streak. I guess they now have to change their name from the "Purples" to they "Yellow's" because that is what they are. I hope they release the amount of the check they sent.
  5. There is no appeal on ejections and judgement calls. The appeal was on a "misapplication of the rules" which you can appeal. The official gave up jurisdiction when he signaled that the game was over. Then he tried to eject Bowers and Wade, but he had no more jurisdiction, and that is against the rules. I just can't believe the T$$AA got something right. I am shocked, but glad for all involved.
  6. Rule 1, Section 1, Article 8: "The game officials retain clerical authority over the game through the completion of any reports, including those imposing disqualification, that are responsive to actions occurring wile the game officials had jurisdiction." The problem is the actions were not in response to something that occured while they had jurisdiction. Rule 3, Section 3, Article 3: There was NO untimed down, so that doesn't apply. Rule 3, Section 3, Article 5: This is the rule saying that the game is not "officially over" when the clock hits 0:00. Granted, he didn't hold a ball over his head, but he made the other signal that indicates the game is over. Once the clock hits 0, he is to "delay momentarily" then signal that the game is over. When he did that (granted it was much more than momentarily), his authority to eject is over! Thanks for posting those rules. Makes me even more certain of the error. I can't believe the TSSAA would not look at the tape to see when the ejections actually took place. Well, I guess nothing surprises me any more with them. I don't have a dog in the fight, it just irks me to see a team done wrong and have absolutely NO recourse to try to make it right. I thought the T$$AA was in it "for the kids", but that has been proven wrong time and time again.
  7. NO THEY DON'T!!! Please show me in the NFHS rule book where it says that. The officials have jurisdiction until the White Hat signals the game is over! If you are correct, why don't the officials stay on the field till "teams leave the field"? They don't because they don't have any more authority! EVERY other game, the white hat signals game over, and they trot off the field and try to beat traffic out of the parking lot.
  8. I hadn't seen the Fox 17 footage, and I am even more convinced this was an over-reach. The players are in the handshake line and the coaches are shaking hands when the "ejection" happened. The game was "officially" over WAY before that. WOW, what a tool that white hat was. What was with the last jab of "you're out next week too" or something like that? Low class.
  9. I couldn't agree more that the head referee decides when the game is oficially over. The clock reading 0:00 doesn't mean the game is over. The white hat has to signal the game is over. In the Deadspin video after the jumble on the sidelines the white hat comes to the field and puts his arms out to the side (the official signal that the game is over). If they wanted to retain jurisdiction and settle the situation, he shouldn't have done that. The ref throws the flag AFTER the signal to end the game. Agree, it was WAY overblown. At any rate, these guys would be perfectly suited to call games up in Bowling Green. Do a little research on Blackman vs Bowling Green this year for some unbelievable officiating. It would be interesting to see if some of Ensworth's supporters that happen to be lawyers take this to the court system and get an injunction until an investigation could be done.
  10. Not accurate. It's even in the article in the Tennessean. "According to the National Federation of State High School Associations’ rulebook, officials retain jurisdiction “through the referee’s declaration of the end of the fourth period or overtime.†On the Deadspin video after all of the chaos of the play etc, the white hat goes to the field and puts his arms out signaling the game is over....shortly thereafter one of the officials throws a flag. They have NO authority at that point to throw a flag....game is over. At that point, if anything happens it is the coach's, administrator's and if neccessary the police's responsibility. So, in my opinion, Coach Bowers will get to coach in the championship due to the exception of a misinterpretation of the rules
  11. I think the last zone change had more of an effect 4-5 years ago than this one did. There were only 300-400 kids moved to Blackman, and there might be one kid on the football team out of those.
  12. I thought I was done with this thread. I am 100% sure that NOTHING was said to the official. The Blackman sideline was told (BY THE OFFICIALS) that it was for "CONTACT WITH AN OFFICIAL" not something that was said. So none of that other stuff mattered and the last drive was the only thing??? Come on, be realistic. BG won the game, sure. But to say Blackman should not have or could not have won that game if it weren't for the flags is comical. The flags cost at least 7 points if not 14. Talk about running out of excuses...you guys are already starting with them for next year. Face it, BG got lucky to come out of there with a win. Game is over. Now we move on. See ya next year. Get your practice in.
  13. I think "most" of us have a pretty good perspective on the big picture. It's not the end of the world, most of us understand that. Stirring the pot is fun....I just hope we get to do some stirring of our own soon instead of getting stirred. Hopefully we'll have 5 more games to get over it.
  14. Appreciate it Pep!!! Never thought you would come to the defense of one of us 7AAA teams did you? I would love to be able to make that trip to Maryville here in a few weeks. Hopefully, we can take care of business and get there.
  15. My bad. I thought this was a message/discussion board for fans to interact. The teams and coaches have moved on, for sure, but I wasn't aware that the fans had to be as "focused" on the game as them.
  16. Appreciate the input. Yes the officials had lost their minds. The BG coach showed his rear-end at halftime ranting and cussing them. They got the message. If they truly wanted to regain control you call offsetting penalties, not 6-0 and favor one team. I don't care who the team is, I have never seen a football game where only 1 team was doing ALL the talking. It's obvious after the "no call" at least 2 Blackman players turn their heads back to the sideline reacting to something that was said....then comes a flag against Blackman. Call the offsetting and set the tone. Now BG knew they could instigate and boy did they. I have never seen a flag for "grazing" an officials arm either. No words were said for that one either. Also no words were said when the BG player held on to the Blackman players foot and when he pulled it back, out comes the flag. Coach Shad said it perfectly....the officiating was "pathetic". We have 4 personal fouls/unsportsmanlike penalties (i know 2 were offsetting) all year, and we all of a sudden get 6 in one half. Unbelievable. How was the no call NOT a game-changer. Blackman driving up 19-13. Call that penalty it is 1st and 10 at the BG 38. After the whole sequence it ended up 3rd and 33 from the Blackman 18. Go up 2 scores there, the way the BG offense was playing, different ball game. As it was BG got ALL the momentum back, then got 60 more yards of penalties on their next drive to go up 20-19.
  17. One of the Blackman players "stated an insult"...was that before or after a BG player/coach/and-or fan called him an m'fer or "n word"? "Barely touched"?? go back and look at the lower copy starting around 10:15. Blackman is "known for talking"????? Really? That's funny. They haven't had ANY problems at all since Shad has been there with that. So Blackman is "trashy". That's funny right there. I guess that's why everybody wants to go there and everybody wants their kids in the Blackman school zone. Blackman players "ran through your tunnel"??? What were they supposed to do? Hop the fence? There was one way in and one way out!!! So it is perfectly acceptable for "your" fans to taunt us, curse us and throw food at our band and cheerleaders, but if we stick up for ourselves, we are the classless ones? Very classy of you to call out a high school kid by name and drag him through the mud. Do I need to go on twitter and pull off all of your people that cussed us constantly all last week?
  18. You still haven't responded answering how we were "asking for more". The one after the late hit was responding to your players and coaches. The one bumping the official was b.s. The 2 that resulted from the BG player hanging onto our foot. That's 4 that were a direct result of an action by a BG player/coach or the official himself. I don't know what happened after their td...still trying to find out that one. Can't remember #6 right off the top of my head. Please show me on the video this "thuggish" behavior because I haven't seen it on film or any evidence in the previous 9 games.
  19. Yes, the "brawl" was almost started because of BG fans that were stuffed around the only exit to the field and were "f" bombing and dropping N words on a bunch of teenagers. The last play of the half (and you can see it on video) a BG player comes in late (shockingly) after the Blackman player is on the ground. Our players come in and pull our player up and they end up throwing a flag on us!!! Multiple "Blackman" parents were almost thrown out. The police must've been really busy then, because I know that they had to deal with a bunch of BG fans. Can somebody answer why home team fans would want to "stand" on the visitor side behind the bench the entire game? BG, "classy"??????? Talk about purple shaded goggles. Please tell me how our "behavior" caused those flags. We get hit twice out of bounds, then get taunted on your sideline....one of our players responds and WE get flagged. Our kid accidentally bumps an official and we get flagged. Your player is holding our kids foot and when he pulls it back WE get flagged. Please show me on the video these "tauntings" you speak of.
  20. Why take that part out? Did you not say that it was our coach's fault for letting our players get all those flags, and if he would have just called a t.o. to calm them down and warn them (which he did) that it wouldn't have been as bad? I was just asking how all of those calls were our coach's fault.
  21. Again...Really???? It was our head coach's fault that our QB got hit TWICE out of bounds, and no late hit is called? It was our head coach's fault that the ref was not in the correct position and our TE has to dodge him and grazes his arm as he is breaking the huddle? It was our head coach's fault that your olineman was holding our DE's foot and when he pulled it back, they called another on us???? By the way, he did have that conversation. I don't see how you can blame a coach for all that. Yes, the fans behind our bench were waaaay out of line, and the authorities were brought over. I understand that doesn't mean all of your fans are that way. However when you have grown adults throwing out m'effers, the "n" word, just for starters at high school kids...it's hard to ignore. Couple that with the food being thrown at our band and all the adults lined up at the end of the 1st half cussing our team and coaches, it's hard not to get a bad impression and taste in your mouth.
  22. I'm assuming you mean the play where 2 players hit our QB late out of bounds. It appears that as he is walking back to the huddle, somebody says something, causing him to turn around. That's when the flag flew. So, instead of being 1st and 10 at the BG 37 with the late hit...it is now 3rd and 18 from the Blaze 33. Immediately after that is where the TE brushes the ref and he threw another one. It ended up being 3rd and 33 from the Blackman 18. That's a 45 yard swing. If they score there, they would have been up 2 scores and BG's offense was imploding at the time. Just the medicine they needed to regain momentum.
  23. Should be a great game with a great atmosphere. I bet the Blaze faithfull never thought they would welcome a familiar District foe in the 1st round, but after Friday night I have a hunch they are. Another unkown opponent might be harder.
  24. I agree with you, but I don't think you are going to get a whole lot of "honest" feedback. I do applaud Biggie for sticking around. Good ole "Football7272" has all but vanished ever since the video surfaced. In my opinion, that is the most "honest feedback" you can get.
