  1. Because slingblade is insecure and while it would be great for the program, it would be bad for him personally so he won't do it.
  2. Finally!!!! someone else who knows whats up. I'll say it...Mullins won't call Gaddis because he is so much better with the community and he knows it. Mullins would lose control and know matter how much good it would be for OR, he wont do it.
  3. Last post on Indy's thread about OR football, If it weren't for the "old guard" the stands would be empty and the football/athletics programs would suffer seriously. I have made my personal position concerning the overall culture that has been created at ORHS by the current admin. very clear, and that's why there are no students on the sidelines or the bleachers. CONGRATS TO INDY...GREAT COACH
  4. I will yell you what we could do about it..........GADDIS!!!! Find him, kiss his butt, offer him enough money and watch what a good coach and community activist can get done!!! I think just like the new stadium......pipe dream...lol
  5. Couldn't know that from the outside looking in
  6. If he had the opportunity to become AD then who could question him for bettering himself, but he was getting paid pretty well at OR. I spoke to him casualy a couple of years ago and he wasn't happy with the environment at OR. It's no fun to go to ORHS and it's no fun to coach there either.
  7. I agree, the community is the one thing this program has going for it!! If you look in the stands, the seats are full middle aged and older Oak Ridgers that still love to come to see a good Wildcat ball game. The Wildcats also travel as well as any team out there.
  8. I wish him all the best, I'm sure he will be succesful there as well. I don't think he would leave because of one thin year...I think he left because ORHS is a screwed-up school folks. School spirit is non-existant, social interaction during any part of the school day is actually discouraged, the administration can't be trusted, and in general, there is no reason to stay. The last 2 years these kids have gone deep in the playoffs....how many pep-rallies or ANYTHING have you seen? A 5 minute "gesture" on the front stoop 2 hours after schools over. I think all you old timers (like me) need to think back, we had assemblies, fires, the band playing in the halls, decorated doors and lockers. What happened the last two years? NOTHING!!! It's not allowed by the administration, they don't want to be bothered with it and Mullins IS at least partially responsible for this type of environment. It's also why slingblade will have a hard time convincing a new coach to come here.
  9. What makes Independence a better job??
  10. O.K. fans, who is the replacement and why did he leave????
  11. Going to Independence. How you Mullins lovers feel about that!!
  12. The new stadium is a pipe dream.... Those plans have been around for a looong time. As for Mullins, SS and Bounder, we will have to agree to disagree. I think Mullins is an idiot and is a snake in the grass. The fact that he shakes your hand and smiles and says hello doesn't surprise me at all. He will tell you what you want to hear everytime....wether he agrees with you or not. Doesn't have the leadership skills to tell you no, so he agrees with you, then finds a way to blame his decisions on someone else. I know I may be offending a few, but anyone who has WORKED directly with slingblade, and has witnessed how he does this to people over and over will know I'm right. He has never done it to me because I know how he is, but I've seen him screw a few parents, coaches and employees I know and slither away to let other administration handle it.
  13. I agree that cloach Blade is getting the most out of the players. That's not even in question, I just don't think the administration at the HS level are strong leaders. It's just my opinion, but in my experience with the current admin, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.
  14. That I can believe. Good post, I'm glad someone who knows why stepped in.
  15. He has always been a great teacher as well!! That to me, speaks to the man. I still wonder why he's not being recognized by the admin. You would think that many years of quality service to the entire athletic program as well as the academics, would warrant a public thank you at his last football banquet. I think BOUNDER may be right, Mullins isn't smart enough to care about anything that Goins doesn't tell him to care about....and Dr. Goins........ lets just say I'm losing faith. I hope he remembers to pratice what he preaches.
  16. This district is tough, and home court advantage will be very important. Thats one reason I was so worried during the Halls game. It's a lot of fun to watch though!!
  17. Most people are proud, so proud in fact, that the present condition of the press box and locker rooms are embarrassing!! SS, if you have been in those lately, you would agree they are bad. Just wanting some improvements made one way or the other. On another note, I'm going to miss seeing coach Saunders on the practice field and the sidelines. I think OR is losing a great coach and mentor. I'm surprised the administration isn't making any mention of it, or efforts to recognize his accomplishments.
  18. I'm personally proud that OR has it's own original fight song and we have stuck with it!! The seniors did a good job singing it at the banquet last night, whoever put it together did a great job!! I hate to hear Barry Saunders is retiring, that's a big loss to the program! I can't believe no administration at his last banquet??? I expect this sort of thing from "slingblade" Mullins, but Dr. Goins didn't even show up for a man who has been a great coach and inspiration to so many kids for so many years.
  19. In thought it was a great game too. OR needs to work on their inbounds plays, Halls gave them fits all night just inbounding. I actually thought the refs called a good game until that nonsense late with Halls calling time out when OR already had the ball across the half court line... I might be ignorant on the rules here, but when the other team clearly has possession from the inbound all the way past half court and is setting up a play, I didn't think Halls should be allowed to call time out.
  20. UUUHHH...Fish heads.....If you smell what I'm cooking.
