  1. No. But the accolades we got because we are playing it the kick off classic with bigger schools seemed to meet your approval.
  2. Oh no. You fired first. And any scholarships that are offered, they are for financial reasons not athletic.
  3. Unfortunately I don't think you can point out one boy on the football team that was "recruited" for their raw, athletic ability. Every young man on that team must also meet, in addition to an exhausting football schedule, the same academic rigors that is expected of everyone else at that school. I am glad that by playing up/up/up in 2011 Webb may be worthy of your esteem and respect. It will be an exciting game for everyone.
  4. The games on Thursday will be the best. Bar none!
  5. The PBS affiliate will be covering it. You can also see it at TSSAA/WebbSchool video portal
  6. You are right. It's a small chip I carry on my right shoulder. Can't seem to get rid of it!
  7. In your own words, each season is different. And as they say in the prospectus, previous performance is not an indicator of future results. Objectively speaking, you are using teams from two years ago playing in today's schedule. Today they have today two 1,000 yard running backs, a 4 year starter at quarterback, a dominate o-line, two defensive ends that are All State quality and a slew of juniors, sophomores and freshmen (one of whom is a son a former NFL player) to build on for the future. It's the entire absolutism of his previous comment that warrants amusement.
  8. I dunno I would be a great game to see!

  10. First answer--No. Probably the greatest deterrent is the issue of distance (our schedule dictates we travel extensively for regional games). Second answer--I am sure there are Monte Carlo models of hypothetical match-ups that could be ran to see what would happens. Fortunately for us the championship is not based on an NCAA BCS type model and only on what happens next week. My only concluding thought is that these boys have not had a complete, undefeated season in 42 years and never won back-to-back championships. Regardless of the polls, these boys have much to be proud. And I'm impressed there is even talk that they could be considered "the best of the best".
  11. I follow MUS football since my Godson attends school there. I have seen what you have done to one particular "big boy" school. Make no question about it, MUS would lay the wood to the 'nadoes. And your point of D1 recruits was dead on. But just the little minded folks go away. I assure you they are not Alcoa's best and brightest.

  12. The below is a quote from Facebook. I had a chance to talk to Spencer last night, told him I was scared to death after watching film of him this past week, that he was a heck of a player, etc. etc. "Yes, sir" and "Thank you" were his common refrains. #77 exemplifies the best of ECS. "He was such a nice guy it was hard to play against him. When he was playing, he was really good but as soon as the play was over, he was so nice." ~Hunter Little on Spencer Pulley, #77 Offensive lineman for ECS, Vanderbilt commit and a Mr. Tennessee Football Finalist
  13. The above is dead on. It was not over "until it was over". There is no way to describe the ECS team, their coaches or their gracious fans. They came with their "A" ready to go. Their players would not lay down when I seemed that the game was going into our favor. And I truly believed that they were going to score even when the clock showed 00:38 and they were on the Webb 2 yard line. To me, ECS are ferocious warriors with hearts of champions. They deserve all the future success they receive.
  14. My son is a lineman so my chest swells when I see comments like the above. And I agree that the play calling is pretty awesome. But as cliche as it may sound, it is the balance of the Webb program. It just seems that when one dimension is not "up to par" there is another part that steps up. And the coaching (all of them--in the box and on the field) prepare the boys each week but are never afraid to make adjustments given game circumstances. It's quite a blessing that is hard to understand by the casual outsider.
  15. Take the top 22 on each side an line'em up for 48 minutes. That's a good way to see. ; )
  16. Yes there will be live streaming. Go to the Webb/TSSAA link to see the game. And yes, they are students. And yes, the TSSAA charges the school but it is underwritten by the Spartan Football 2010 club. Good luck to ECS. They are a heck of a team.
