E-version of their local paper says position has been filled by Jonathan Shultz, disciple of Boys Coach Ken Wright. http://www.themountainpress.com/sports/x2025291608/Jonathan-Shultz-named-Sevier-County-girls-basketball-coach Interesting hire... 40+ applicants and they hire someone with a 66-107 coaching record and apparently had only 1 winning season out of 6 as HC at Pigeon Forge???? With the starting 5 all returning from last year, there's alot of pressure on him to produce and produce early. Hope they got it right. Good luck to them next year.

Coach Jessie of Seymour rumored to have stepped down to go to Gatlinburg-Pittman... Seymour announces hiring of Carter's coach on the same day that interviews were to start... Shultz of Pigeon Forge rumored to step down and move to Sevier County HS to take the helm when Coach Wright retires at the end of the year... and now Pigeon Forge being forced to hire a Coach they didn't want.... Life as normal in Sevier County????

Didn't mean to imply anything crooked. I was attempting to answer why someone would leave Seymour to go to G-P and coach. Seymour is a good school as well.

According to people in the central office, Jessie stepped down because he plans on going to Gatlinburg Pittman in the next year or so as an assistant coach. His old assistant is head coach there now and wants to get into administration. He's been promised the head coaching job when the current one leaves.

Shultz stepped down saying he wanted to teach and coach with less responsibilities. The real reason, according to people that know Shultz is that he is planning on going to Sevier Co. HS and reunite with his mentor, Ken Wright. Word is Wright is going to retire next year and Shultz will be there to take the job. Wright's assistant for about a decade resigned earlier this week right before Shultz resigned at P-F.
