  1. Regardless, it should be a good game. IDK if Jefferson County and Tennessee High have played each other, they probably have. I look forward to this early season non conference game.
  2. yea i was pretty sure that was for certain and I think it'll be at THS, but do you know if it will be first game or second?
  3. Im a Jeff County fan so I'm biased but I think our blue on white with red shoulders and blue socks looks real nice IMO
  4. also, I've so many different versions of the 2011 schedule(Heritage, Elizabethton, Tennessee High etc.) If anyone knows the official schedule, please let me know
  5. Your exactly right. Offenses like the veer or wing t can be very hard to stop if run the right way, but when u start playing in bad weather conditions like rain or snow, then the pro wins every time. Think about it, every offensive play in the veer, there's at least one and at the most two times a chance for a fumble might happen. First, when the QB is reading the defense and making the decision whether to pull it or give it, I can't tell you how many times I've seen running backs bobble the snap when the QB is getting it and then there hit instantly and then fumble. Second, if the QB decides to pull and he then pitches it, there's another chance to fumble. And I'm saying all this in DRY conditions, imagine when rain, snow, cold, etc. comes into play. Yes, the veer is an effective offense, but the pro is something you can rely on and toward the end of the game, when you just gotta run out the clock, just put your fullback to lead block and pound it up the middle. Also, when you keep running and keep running, a play-action is great to a tight end seam or a receiver slant, and usually it'll catch defenses off guard.
  6. yea I've heard that also, and I'm not to happy about it. The only team I know that runs the wing t and is successful is DB. Im still sticking with my choice, go with the pro haha, but regardless go pats
  7. I can't wait to see you all next year should be a great game. I do have a question though, is it going to be at the castle or at dumplin valley? Either way should be an exciting non conference game
  8. IMO I think JCHS might want to consider running the Pro- Style offense. We tried to run the spread but for a high school team to run the spread effectively, you need huge, strong offensive line who just sit back and pass block and fast receivers, in other words amazing athletes. The veer is a great offense but sort of outdated and teams today are finding ways to stop it. If you look at Carson-Newman they run the veer to perfection, because they recruit players to fit their offense. In high school, you get what you get. With the team we have returning next year, I think we have the right personnel to run the pro. We have a big offensive line, a pro style quarterback who can sling it and solid backs. I think a lot of zone blocking would be great for the O-Line, much better than the more complicated veer blocking. As we've seen in the past, our defense is solid and so has our offense been at times, just not as consistent.
  9. So now the 2010 season is over and the Patriots finished with a 6-5 (6-1) record and a share with the IMAC title along with Morristown West and Sevier County. A lot of talented seniors are gone and a lot of upcoming juniors will be needed to fill in due to a small upcoming senior class. As far as non-conference games go,I am almsot certain JCHS will travel to the castle to play Tennessee High which should be an exciting game. Also, rumors about JCHS playing Heritage and William Blount, have the community excited. Although I can't wait for the 2011 season to get here, I do have some questions about the upcoming season: #1 Offense: The offense in 2010 was much better than in the past but during games such as: William Blount, Seymour, and Dobyns-Bennett, JCHS seemed to struggle. Coming into the 2010 season, JCHS was turning to the spread, but slowly went back to the veer. The defense was great last year, due to the great coaching of Parker Dykes, and if JCHS can find the right offense than we have a chance to be a very dangerous team. #2 Offensive Line: A senior dominated offensive line leaves and leaves a talented yet inexperienced group to take over. Although they may be young, they don't lack size. Look for leadership of SR's. Blake Ball, Zach Massey and Austin Collins to be the leaders of the offensive line #3Wide Receivers: JCHS lost some talented seniors but have some talented receivers coming back. SR. Brandon Smiley, and Austin Webster return, and upcoming Junior Levi Jones should be key targets for Bible next season. So yes they're are some questions for next season but with every new season comes new questions and I have complete faith that coach Anderson can do away with these questions.
