  1. Is this laladad from lalaland? Please take tongue out of cheek and swallow your meds.
  2. you probably hit the nail on the head with your last sentence..lol
  3. In the East-Sevier game, East was playing without its leading scorer (out for the season) and without its starting guard and 3-point threat. Sevier was without its leading scorer and best player. So it was kind of a survival game for both teams. West is without its second leading scorer and Seymour is without its point guard. So none of them should beat Tennessee unless the Vikings have a less than stellar outing. Looks like SH will host the substate and Tennessee will travel to probably Farragut or Bearden ... and Tennessee can beat either of them. So it looks like Region 1 and especially District 1 will be well represented in Murfreesboro. But of course I could be wrong.
  4. I should have said West was up 13-3 towards the end of the 1st quarter. Then the first of eleven "unforced" turnovers began. Can't blame West's loss on one of its starters being injured because Seymour beat West when the starter was healthy. Seymour played a solid game with few mistakes after the first 5 minutes of the game. West, as they did in the earlier loss to Seymour, simply did not play "smart" after they got the lead.
  5. Will predict that Region 1 will sweep Region 2 if Tennessee High comes in second in Region 1. Cannot see anyone beating SH. If anyone other than Tennessee High comes in second in Region one tourney then Region 2 will have a shot at a state berth but still not a guarantee.
  6. West and Seymour split during the regular season, so the Seymour win was not especially surprising. West led by 13 to 3 at end of 1st quarter. Seymour then outscored West 19 to 1 by half time. Turnovers, Turnovers,Turnovers and more turnovers plus lots of missed lay-ups killed West. Seymour played a 3-2 zone that was effective with their size advantage. Plus their two inside defensive players did a great job keeping themselves between West's inside players and the basket. West continually forced passes into the heart of Seymour's defense and almost never exploited the baseline. Plus West's inside players continually tried to put the ball on the floor against double teams and just didn't look for inside-outside opportunities. Seemed as if West, at times, thought they were playing with a shot clock on offense...can't do that against a zone!! Also, in the other game West lost to Seymour this year, West actually led by more that 20 points in the first half. Seems that West completely loses its focus once they get the lead. It was a really really sloppy game on West's part. On the good side for West, three players had pretty good games and hopefully they learned that protecting the ball is paramount in a close game. West started 4 sophs with its second leading scorer (also a soph) out for the season, so the future looks bright. Seymour also starts several young players including one freshman, so I'm sure these two will battle for district supremacy for the next couple of years.
  7. It is now definitely anybody's game in the District 2 tourney with injuries to key players at East and West. The tournament is now wide open with Cherokee, Sevier, Seymour , West and East all capable of winning. One of these will be eliminated in the first round for sure, leaving the other four to fight it out.Cherokee has a really good chance since they host the finals. Also, East and West have a good shot with capable subs coming in for the injured players. Seymour has really been coming on as of late while Sevier could beat any of the others on a given night. May boil down to who has the strongest bench. Plus Jeff and Cocke County could possibly be spoilers if they catch a team overlooking them in the first round, not likely but not impossible either. Can't Wait.
  8. I agree. Cherokee may just prove to be the team to beat
  9. East still has a lot of quality players, but a senior leader and scorer will surely be missed. With Cherokee and WEst seeming to peak and Sevier and Seymour coming on , it should be an interesting tournament. I understand that Cherokee had a substantial lead before Miss Berquist was injured and that their other big girl , Taylor, is healthy again. Cherokee could very well be the team to beat especially if they finish the district regular season with a win over West Friday night in Rogersville.
  10. Could be with East losing its top scorer. But watch out for Cherokee, their other big girl is back healthy. She (Taylor) scored 19 and had 15 rebounds in the win over East. D2 now could actually see West, East, Sevier, Cherokee or even Seymour winning the tournament. SH is a lock for sure unless something totally unfortunate happens. Did Tennesee beat West in overtime early in the season? Anyway, I know it was close and West's 4 starting sophmores have all improved quite a bit.
  11. Thanks trottercoach, Prayers are up for the young lady.
  12. Lost to Cherokee by 15. I heard East had a top player injured, but will not mention name until verified. Know what happened Trotter Coach??
  13. Just curious, who will knock out Grainger? The words you put in my mouth need a little salt (lol). If East travels to Farragut (or where ever) they should have a really good chance to win. Region 2 is about the weakest I have seen in a long , long time. East starts 4 seniors and 1 junior with 2 high quality subs off the bench so if they are to make any noise it better be this year. If East don't make it to state this year they will have a long wait for the next opportunity.
  14. I could see Morristown East, Tennessee, or even Morristown West or possibly Sevier County beating any of the Knoxville area AAA teams on their home floor in the sub-state game. I see SH and Cloudland as East Tenn. best chance for a state title.
  15. Looks like Science Hill, Grainger County and Cloudland are best bets to represent East Tenn in the State Tournament. Others who could possibly make it to the tourney are Morristown East, Tennesee High, and Elizabethton. Outside possibilities include Morristown West, Unicoi County, and who else???
  16. You state the obvious and I agree. But, what could "possibly" happen is interesting speculation. East could possibly beat SH. They did last year and return most of their starters. East would have to play a strong zone and would have to hit a really high percentage of its shots, both of which they are capable of doing.SH would have to have an off night offensively and maybe have to sit a couple of starters with foul trouble. Another possibility is that East could lose in the district (not likely but possible) and then would have to face SH prior to the finals of the Region. Then whoever upset East in the district, would surely lose to SH eventually in the Region finals (if they make it that far). Then Sh would host the substate and Tennessee, or Sevier or Seymour or M'town West would travel for their substate game. Districts 3 and 4 are down this year so District 1 and 2 could move on. I, however, doubt that any East Tenn AAA team could advance to the second round of the state except for SH.
  17. Wouldn't it be something if Kellie was named to take Pat Summit's place someday? She would have my vote as well as tremendous fan support.
  18. Had you lived in an earlier time you could have been the public relations director for General Armstrong Custer...just kidding.
  19. Don't know the individual players well enough to make a judgement as to who should start. Both West and Seymour are young and talented so the next couple of years should be interesting. Beating each other on their home courts was kind of unusual but with young players anything can happen. Don't know what happened with the double technicals called on Seymour, but you can't allow that to occur especially in a closely contested game. I look forward to future games between the two.
  20. Important game tonight in district 2 with West at Seymour. West played perhaps its best defensive game of the season upending Seymour by 12. West now in sole possession of 2nd place. East still in the driver's seat by a comfortable margin.
  21. Pretty much as expected. The senior dominated East team is undefeated with Seymour and West battling for second. East has the best chance for a trip to the state but absolutely has to win the tournament to avoid SH prior to the finals of the region tournament. If East can do that , they would then travel for a substate game that can be winnable. If Seymour, West or maybe Sevier can upset East in the tournament then the same senario applies for them...a possible trip to the state tournament. East is still in the drivers seat and is not likely to relinquish its lead.
  22. As predicted, East beat West by 12 (predicted 10 to 20}. Still looks like East will go undefeated in the district with either Seymour or Morris. West capable of an upset of East in the tournament if their young starters continue to improve. With East's lopsided loss to South Greene last week, other district teams now may think they have a chance to unseat East. It is not likely , but possible. In the East West game, one really bad quarter by West saw their hopes drained. A lot better defense on the multitude of East 3 shooters could have made a big difference for West. Also, poor shot selection at times hurt West.
  23. Should be Mt Juliet, not SH you boob!!!
