  1. East should win by 10 to 20 points with West starting 4 sophs and East playing at home. Plus the East coach had all these sophs in middle school so she is extremely familiar with their strengths and weaknesses. However, East must put the losses to SH and "South Greene" behind them. If the game is close at the end I think West could pull the upset.
  2. Agreed. There are four or five teams that could battle for the 2 spot in the East this year but will really be limited to sub-state appearances. Next year there are a couple that could possibly go beyond sub-state. However there are a couple of teams poised to take over the top spot when SH finishes its current run. Look out on the state level for Region 1 class AA Grainger County and Class A Cloudland.
  3. My point was that the best track to the state for any district 2 team is to avoid playing SH prior to the regional finals. From what I have seen so far, I would favor SH over East, but not by much. The Mt Juliet game should tell us a lot about East and an eventual meeting in the finals in Greenville with East and SH would be one to watch!
  4. Which part are you not as sure about? Do you agree that the best track to the state tournament for a district 2 team is to avoid playing SH prior to the regional finals?
  5. Mt Juliet should be a real test for East. My niece lives there and thinks Mt. Juliet is right up there with Riverdale and other state powers. I hope the Science Hill-Alabama game will be a good one too.
  6. I predict SH will contend for the state title this year and next year...with next year being their best shot at winning it all. They will cakewalk their way to the state tourney the next two years with little or no competition for them in the east.
  7. East should have no problems going undefeated in the district during the regular season. They should also be favored to win the district tournament but could face an upset bid by an improving Seymour or Morristown West. Winning the district tournament is super important this year because no one will likely beat Science Hill in the Region. Facing SH prior to the regional finals spells disaster for everyone.
  8. No problems for East this week. Will win all three by 10 points or more.
  9. Actually Morristown's West View Middle School beat the SH middle schoolers(today's sophmores)West High starts 4 of these with the fifth also starting at times.
  10. East by 12. East will go undefeated through the district but could be tested in the tournament as younger teams mature.
  11. As the old song goes...One out of four ain't bad!! Just kidding.
  12. WOW. Now have a three way tie for 2nd. Whoever ends up fourth will likely have to play M'town East in the district which I predict will be the most likely game for an upset with Sevier also being a possible spoiler.
  13. My predictions for the last week of the IMAC regular season. Jeff. County wins with 3 losses. Tied for second will be M'town West and Seymour with 4 losses each. Cherokee next with 5 losses. Then M'town East, Sevier County, Cocke County and South Doyle. My predictions for the district tourney will be Jeff and M'town West in the championship game unless they are in the same bracket. If so, Seymour will be in the Championship Game. Best chance for pulling a big upset will be M'town East. Darkhorse is Cherokee. Winner of Championship Game will be M'town West (I hope).
  14. So true. One team will look unbeatable one night and then lose the next. My take is there are several teams that could win on a given night. If Cherokee's guards play well they can beat anyone because of their great size inside. If M'town East is hitting outside shots they are really tough. If Seymour is moving the ball really well , they win. Now Sevier is also playing tough. M'town West is in a slump but could bounce back quickly and beat anyone on a given night. Jeff. probably has the inside track because of their finishing schedule. The district tourney should be fun and interesting. But I must say however--Go Trojans.
  15. The proof is that they didn't win the state last year??? So does that mean that all the district championships West has won over the last several years proves that they just can't be successful without a Taylor Hall?? Just curious...How many times has West beaten your team over the last 15 years?? By the way, if you run accross any Taylor Halls tell them West would love to have them.
  16. West certainly has the tougher schedule down the stretch than does Jeff. Based on the schedules West can basically hope for a tie while Jeff can have more hope for the district crown. West sure cannot beat the quality teams remaining on its schedule if they continue to get behind by great margins like they did at Cherokee (17 to 1) and at Jeff (25 to 6) resulting in their only two loses in the district this year. West must play more conservative on offense and get better shots early in the games to avoid another loss.
  17. Sorry...West won but it was close until the middle of the fourth quarter. East played well but were off on their threes tonight. The jr. varsity west girls won as well.
  18. I have grandchildren playing and as a retiree I spend way too much time at ballgames...but I love it. All six of my grandchildren play basketball so I have attended over 50 games already. My wife and I are also huge Lady Vol fans.

  19. I hope you are right. By the way West did beat Seymour (at Seymour) without Jones in the line up. So they do have others who can play but Jones is for sure the key to their success.
  20. True. West got behind 17 to 1 and then forced the ball inside way way way too much trying to catch up. West cut it down to 5 points by halftime but Cherokees size was just too much. The play of the Taylor girl was the difference in the second half.
  21. Jeff County is in the drivers seat I believe. Cherokee is BIG but could lose to several teams on a given night. Seymour will beat everyone in the bottom tier but will have a hard time with Jeff and M'town West. M'town East can beat anyone on a given night. M'town West is the big question mark....how will they bounce back after the loss to Cherokee? and how much better can the talented freshmen group get by tourney time? Cocke County must improve bench play if they are to improve. Sevier will finish towards the bottom of the pack and South Doyle must look to the future. The Imac is definitely down this year with Science Hill , DB and the Vikings leading contenders for the Region Title.
  22. Check out freshman Sidney Goins at SIU while you are there. She scored 22 against Vanderbilt and 19 against Austin Peay. She played for Morristown West last year.
  23. Morristown West now 3-0 in IMAC with wins over Cocke, Jeff., and Seymour. Have up to 5 freshmen on the floor at the same time with 3 or 4 getting multiple minutes. Are now 7-2 with early losses coming while freshmen were getting acclimated to high school ball.
