Congratulations CCHS Lions on an awesome performance!!!! Actually the referees were not the same ones that were in Woodbury and in no way were they one sided on the Cannon side. I didn't see any of the Upperman players chatting with the refs, nor did I actually witness that there was some type of relationship between either school and the refs as there was in Cannon when everyone witnessed a coach and a couple of the refs who were extremely friendly with each other and Upperman players who were on a first name basis with the refs. Referees are always going to miss something and there is always enough people to point out exactly what they missed. Sometimes it is obvious that there is a favorite team among the referees as at Cannon (and no Cannon was not the favorite team) but actually the refs of last night seemed to be pretty consistant. Calls were missed on both sides but calls were also made on both sides. Those Cannon boys just came to play. They stepped up their game, played with heart and no matter what combination of kids were on the floor they played as a team. Cannon has some real leaders on their team (on and off the floor) but after a couple of them had to take a seat due to fouls and one was home sick, Jared Nave seemed to put the game on his shoulders. All the kids played their hearts out. Some hit crucial shots, some hit the floor in obvious offensive fouls, some made key defensive stops and some simply sat on the sidelines and supported and cheered their teammates on the floor on. Whatever the role, they all did their job. Great job Lions...Keep up the good work!!!!!!!
