  1. I would agree with that. Loretto's post are 5'9" - 5'10" and I don't know that they have played anyone with any taller girls. Nor have I seen any tall post at any of the other games I have watched. I know they are out there, but maybe not as common in our district or region this year.
  2. I think when you actually look at the records of the teams that D12 teams have played you really cant tell much. I mean most everyone's wins are against teams with a loosing record while the losses are to teams with a winning record. still too early to see how the district is going to pan out. I just don't see any team jumping out as the team to beat, yet. A lot will depend on match ups. As for Loretto, they are playing better this year than I thought they would, or at least sometimes they are. They still have several things they have to get worked out. If they do then I think they will be in the mix. If not might as well get ready for next year.
  3. Your top two picks look pretty good. I would say after that the other four sports are up for grabs for the most part. Loretto looked good the other night but that was probably due to Cornersville not looking that good. I am still waiting to see what they really have, which we should have a better idea next week when they play Lawrence County. I think even though Waynesboro lost a lot they still will be pretty tough then Frank Hughes. Collinwood lost a few seniors and they also lost some younger girls that transferred or are hurt so they may have a rough time unless the others can step it up.
  4. So what does Van Buren have? I know their young and have heart, but what do they run? style of play?
  5. Van Buren may not have size but apparently they do something to be where they are. They may beat Loretto but not because Loretto is looking ahead. They will be focused on this game for sure.
  6. Thanks, I think they will enjoy the trip. They made their goals for the year and have reached everyone of them. Anything beyond this point is gravy. Just glad those boys had a good year as they are a very good bunch and have had a great time playing this year. Would be nice to keep it going.
  7. Loretto's Freshman have done a great job and really stepped up the last two games when we were without two starters in the region championship and without one during the sectional. Both are now back healthy and able to play. Loretto starts four seniors and a junior but the others come in quickly, often and contribute. They have a well rounded team with good height. The junior is 6'9" while they also have four others 6'4" or better. In one respect Loretto and Van Buren are similar as they are both small rural schools. Loretto is mainly known for girls basketball as the boys are now in uncharted waters. Loretto boys last won the District in 1963 and last made it to the state in 1942. Pushing for the most wins ever by a boys basketball team as well. Best of luck to both teams but pulling for the Mustangs.
  8. I wish Loretto had that kind of size but they don't.
  9. Last word was he had a concussion and was doing good.
  10. Last word I heard he was doing good and did have a concussion.
  11. Yes I was there and never heard a boo when they gave out the awards. not saying there wasn't at all as you may have somebody do it but I really didn't notice it at all. Honestly most people were still wrapped up in the boys game. And no if Loretto had have won we would not have showed out. Like Perry Co. they look at their coaches to see how to act before/during/after the game. Time to move on to the next game.
  12. Wow I am so glad you are able to distinguish that they were booing the girls. All I saw was booing of the refs, specifically the one who had relatives playing for Mt. Pleasant who Loretto put out. He was the ref that made the lane violation call and over ruled the ref that called the foul on at the end. Payback sucks sometimes. And I will say the way the Perry Co. girls acted was a bit classless yelling at the fans like the did but hey when your boys team has a player flips off the whole crowd during a game when he fouls out how could you expect anything less.
  13. CA over Collinwood but pulling for a Collinwood upset Loretto over Mt. Pleasant (Depends on what team shows up for the Mustangs. At time they have a hard time finding the basket but other times look pretty good. Im expecting a tough game)
  14. Well I was staying out of this but since you started in on Loretto, Ill join in. You may want to check those scores about Frank Hughes staying with Loretto within 5 points first two games they played. First game Sirmones was out and could not play but still won by 7. Second game I think it was 11 or 12, not sure but could have been more. The last game we had two starters out and another one sick and lost by 1. dug a deep hole first quarter but out scored them the 2ns, 3rd and 4th quarter. As for the Perry Co. vs. Summertown game, yes Summertown won and played a good game. but lets be honest. Perry Co. had an off night and struggled one offense and not to hurt your feelings but they missed wide open shots, it was not because the defense was so good as much as perry co was off that night.
  15. Round 2 Perry County over Summertown Loretto over Frank Hughes
  16. Loretto lost two players from last year. All of our pitching is back plus some young ones to help out. Loretto has more depth at pitching than I can ever remember them having. Also, the District tournament is at Loretto this year. Could be a good year for the Mustangs.
  17. Loretto over Richland Collinwood over Santa Fe Mt. Pleasant over Summertown Columbia Academy over Perry Co.
  18. First Round Summertown over Santa Fe Frank Hudhes over Columbia Academy Perry Co. over Richland Loretto over Mt. Pleasant
  19. With the way the district games are set up you better have pitching and a lot of it. Double headers on Monday then play again on Tuesday, so three district games in two days.
  20. Thursday for the girls and Friday for the boys is what I heard as well
  21. Not only was Burden and Brodie out but one of the starters was playing sick. Had to take medicine during the game. I think once you get everyone back healthy Loretto will be okay, hopefully. On the bright side Perry Co. and Loretto will be in opposite brackets in the Region.
  22. On second thought I will say Summertown over Collinwood and Frank Hughes over Wayne County. LOL!
