  1. Oh, I stand corrected. I didn’t realize that was a brand name. When I think of "Astro Turf", I think of the old baseball stadium turf.
  2. Well, technically it isn’t "astro turf". It is synthetic turf, the good stuff. I'm not sure what the actual name of it is though.
  3. That ship has sailed in this thread. There is plenty of bulletin board material to go around in here. Both teams could find more than enough to get them fired up.
  4. Yes, at some point the announcers in that game made a comment that the Alcoa coaches made it clear that they wouldn’t kick it anywhere near #21.
  5. Well, you may be right but it sure isn't hard to figure out the names of two Mr. Football finalists.
  6. Not that our guys needed more motivation for this game, but thanks for your contributions.
  7. The truth is, most Greeneville fans aren’t like what you read on this message board. We have a ton of respect for Giles County after the last time we played you guys. We expect nothing more than a hard fought game between two well coached teams. The winner of this game will have the opportunity to play for their second gold ball in the past 2-3 years. I think that says more about these programs than any comments from a fan on a message board. I hope everyone has a safe trip to Greeneville. I think you will enjoy your time here regardless of the outcome of the game. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
  8. Weren’t you favored in that game? Our fans were just trying to earn a little respect for our team because we weren’t getting any respect. Even in a loss, I think our players earned that respect.
  9. PLEASE do that. I would feel much better knowing that was your gameplan.
  10. I will say this, speed at the corner and safety positions isn’t a problem this year. Can Giles County throw on them some? Probably, but I wouldn’t expect us to get burnt as bad this go around. 4.4 speed can make up for some mistakes.
  11. I’m sure Caine would listen if Alcoa called him, but I doubt he would go anywhere. His family is established here, and there are a few individuals in this town that could make it very difficult to lure him away from Greeneville, if they want him to stay bad enough. Money talks.
  12. Good post. Your guys have no reason to fear Greeneville. You won the last game against us, so I’m sure your guys will come in here with a ton of confidence. That will make a difference when compared to a lot of teams. However, Greeneville will be ready. If they aren’t fired up for this game, then they have no business playing sports. A chance at another championship appearance is on the line and it is a rematch from two years ago, where the Greene Devils ended up heartbroken. There should be a lot of emotion from those guys who played two years ago. So, I think both team will play hard and play well. Is it Friday yet? How many fans can we expect from you guys? I know it is a long trip.
  13. That is a bold prediction for a team that was 2-2 this year.
  14. This should be a fun week on here. We have SOME Greeneville fans claiming we are going to win a semifinal game by 50 points, and SOME Giles County fans pretending like they can’t play at all to defer pressure to Greeneville. I don’t believe either for one minute. This will likely be a very good game. It is a semifinal game, and both teams have proven they belong here. From what I’ve been able to gather from Giles County, they are the type of team that just figures out a way to win. Those are the types of teams that scare you, because they can sneak up on you. So, I don’t think it will be a blowout for either team. I pick Greeneville to win this game in a hard fought victory. The State Championship two years ago was a great game(with a horrible ending for Greeneville). The memory of that game alone should be enough to keep Greeneville players humble, yet motivated for this game.
  15. I think we need a thread specifically for the sarcastic Giles County posts too. You guys have that whole “poor ole Giles County†routine down pat.
  16. You have this whole “downplay my team while I brag on the other team†concept down pat. I don’t think it is going to work this time. I’m sure Giles Co. has Ballard and the staff’s full attention. They know how good Giles County’s program is. Here, I’ll try your approach one time. Since Giles County “typically†beats Greeneville, then they should be favored in this game. Afterall, they are 1-0 against Greeneville. How did I do?
  17. Playing them in the regular season wouldn’t be a bad thing. Even if they beat Greeneville it would just help Greeneville get ready for the playoffs. I’m just glad we don’t have to face them in the semifinals like we used to. Those games didn’t turn out so well. Although, I’m sure Greeneville could make a more competitive game out of it now. I just don’t want to give the Maryville people the idea that Greeneville “wants†Maryville. Nobody wants to play them in an elimination game.
  18. “Been there done that†a couple times in our history. I will just be happy with another state championship. We have a very tough Giles County team to worry about first. Personally, I’m very happy that Maryville is in a different division and we don’t have to play them.
  19. There is a video on youtube that shows our entire secondary missing tackle after tackle in that game. Honestly, our secondary as a unit struggled for the first few weeks of the season. I remember the coaches were furious with one particular corner during the DB scrimmage, but he has now become the star of the secondary. It is a compliment to the players for taking the coaching and getting better, and a testament to the coaches for making the right adjustments. I have no worries with our defense now. With that said, defense really wasn’t the problem in that game. We still held a good 5A school to 14 points. We just couldn’t move the ball at all in that game. When we did move it, the drive ended because of a turnover or a big penalty. Again, a few adjustments have been made and the rest is history.
  20. You have pretty much questioned everything that Greeneville fans have said. You started with questioning BVD about making excuses for the Mo West game. You question Greeneville fans about their opinions regarding this team versus the 2009 team. Then, you implied that Greeneville doesn’t have true fans. Remember, this is a Greeneville and Giles County thread. When a WG fans comes in here and starts questioning everything we say, then I think you should expect us to get a little defensive. It looked like you are trying to stir up some stuff. You and I have gotten along ok in the past, and I hope that continues. I have said good things about your school as well. Like I said, I’m just tired of the whole city/county conversation.
  21. See, that is a typical post from you. You say a few nice things, then basically imply that everything is big bad Greeneville’s fault. You are the one who accused BVD of always making excuses for Greeneville's loss, you asked a question that you probably knew the answer to (because it involved your team), and you talked bad about our fans. Of course, you did nothing wrong in your mind. You are always on our threads, and the conversation always ends up being City versus County. Personally, I don’t care anymore. I don’t dislike you, I’m just tired of all the drama for this year. By next season, I’m sure I’ll be ready for some more city/county discussion.
  22. Would you please just leave? You always have to say something to stir stuff up. You will say one or two nice comments about Greeneville to make it seem like you don't hate Greeneville, but that doesn’t fool anyone at this point. I think Greeneville proved that they have true fans, when they had about 5,000 in the freezing cold last year at the state championship game.
  23. I didn’t realize that Tanner Stewart was sick yesterday (according to JC Press he had a fever of 102). Just proves his toughness to be able to play that well while sick. That is what you call stepping up for your teammates.
  24. Ok, I thought he was implying that same stuff we always hear. As in, "a whole different level of football than you're used to". It seems like every team makes a comment similar to that towards Greeneville at some point.
