  1. I believe GIoia is telling the truth. He has always had the students best interest at heart. This thread is being misused.to bash GIoia, This is supposed to be a thread to talk about division 2 football. Instead the former coach and his family use it to bash someone they don't like.
  2. In reply to smokestack: Mr Simonis never called the TSSAA. After the headmaster called and called the Simonis family to come in for a meeting, they revealed to the headmaster their concerns about the coach's treatment of the football boys and in the meeting revealed to him about the check. The headmaster then contacted TSSAA and self reported.
  3. I think it is time for people to know that the $1500.00 check given to Aaron Simonis was repaid to the school several years ago. It is sad to all who know this family to see how this situation continues to go on and on bringing pain to all those involved including the McGugins. It is time for all of us to move on. It is a HUGE shame that two more families from Lebanon are going to be suffering now tnat the City Paper and the Tennessean have published their names totally unnecessarily.
  4. The reason the student wasn't given a regular check is because they were trying to hide where the check generated from.
  5. The cashiers check that was given to the student came from Dan McGugins father. This is a fact and not a rumor. I am sure this post will get taken off very quickly. Sometimes the truth hurts.
  6. The game tonight was absolutely great!!!!! MBA played very, very well!!!! James Kay and Aaron Simonis both played amazingly well. Both teams showed good sportsmanship and the fans were classy. It was all around a fun game to watch and a tremendous crowd to be a part of.
  7. It is pretty obvious that the former MBA coach and his brother are posting on here. It is amazing how many campers we have who have just joined a week or two weeks ago. It is right to be talking bad about the MBA coach. He is a good man and he treats the boys with dignity and respect, something they weren't used to the last few years. Winning isn't everything. These football players admire their coach this year and are having fun.
  8. MBA might not be winning but the football team loves their coach and are happy with the way they are being treated with dignity and respect. Winning is not everything!

    MBA

I believe that it is time to move on from this topic. The family involved has not posted and refuses to share their side on this site or with the media. Their son had extremely good reasons for quitting the football program after this season was over. He had been lied to and harassed by the coach over and over again. The coach was constantly emailing and texting him at all times of the day. The coach was unethical and dishonest to the young man. He could no longer take it and decided to quit the team. It had nothing to do with him thinking that the coach was working him too hard as this young man loves football and never complained about the tough practices. In fact, he loved the hard workouts in preparation for games. MBA would not leave it alone and kept asking him over and over again why he wasn't going to play football and he remained silent. It is not in his character to speak poorly or unkindly about others and especially an elder. The family was approached several times by the school administration about coming in and talking about why their son had quit the team and they declined to speak about the situation. Finally, the headmaster convinced them to come and speak to him about their son's decision and they went forward to see him with a letter. The letter was written because they wanted to have all their facts in order and not get emotional. The family loves MBA and doesn't want anymore bad light shed upon the school. They thought everything that was said that day to the headmaster was in confidence and had no idea that all of this was going to end up in the media. Please for the sake of MBA, this family, and the McGugin family, let's move on from these hurtful comments.
