  1. I was there and heres the run down At 106 we saw freshman standout from THS, Trent Nelson, wrestle in the finals but suffered a loss to Hernandez of Heritage in the final. We Also saw Zach Bynum from David Crockett come in as the 1 seed but finished with a 7th place finish. At 132 we saw Corbin Hurley finish 5th having close matches througout the whole tournament. We also saw Jacob Cutshall from Daniel Boone finish 7th who wasnt given any favors himself. Both of them beat Landon Porter of Morristown East in tight matches with Cutshall winning 5-4 and Hurley winning 2-0. At 138 Dewey Pendley, freshman for THS, finshed 4th and Micheal Harer from DB finished 6th. They actually met up in the consolation semi finals with Pendley winning with a 2-0 score. At 152 Austin Frye finished 5th. Frye lost in the semi-finals to the wrestler that would win the championship. At 160 we saw Palmer Begely from DB and Griffyn Broyles from MoWest both make it to the semi-finals before suffering a loss. Begely would go on to dominate his way through the consolation to take 3rd and Broyles would split matches with Mike King from Beech to take 6th. At 170 Tyler Dean from DB finished 3rd winning a close 8-6 match over a wrestler from Bremen. At 182 Josh Spangler of THS finished 7th beating Sheehan from Heritage by fall. At 195 we see Evan Rolla from Davy Crockett finish 5th At 285 we had Blake Ruth for DB finish 4th AAA Region 1 had 55 varsity wrestlers total in the tournament with 13 top 8 placers. Every weight was loaded and it was a great tournament to watch! I saw alot of tough kids get pushed to their limits! I was suprised to see Storm Williams and Landon Porter from Morristown East not place. As far as a team race goes between AAA Region 1 goes it was as followed Dobyns Bennett-6 placers Tennessee High-4 placers Davy Crockett-2 Morristown East-0 placers Daniel Boone-1 placer Morristown West-1 placer
  2. griffyn broyles from mowest split matched with mike king from beech at the Indian classic last weekend at 160. Broyles rides like a tank
  3. How does everyone see the region 1 wrestlers fairing this weekend at the Indian classic?
  4. There arent any state medalists but most of them were either in the top 16 top 12 or top 8 at the end of the season. They were all also young. All but one of them is now either a junior or senior. I wouldnt look over this group of guys.
  5. This will burn some people up but using a system I came up with this morning I came up with the pound for pound top 10 best wrestlers in the region. Heres what I got. Feel free to express opinions! 1-Max Vaughn(Science Hill) 2-Austin Frye(Dobyns Bennett) 3-Austin Bagley(Science Hill) 4-Palmer Begely(Dobyns Bennett) 5-Corbin Hurley(Tennessee High) 6-Griffyn Broyles(Morristown West) 7-Josh Spangler(Tennessee High) 8-Gary Hudgins(Science Hill) 9-Storm Williams(Morristown East) 10-Landon Porter(Morristown East)
  6. feel free to make any kind of corrections! Just something I threw together. Yes that is him I believe at least thats what it says on nwcaonline
  7. shoot I ment Spangler but was thinking of jack jones for some reason. My mistake.

Thoughts?
  9. I'm excited to see a bigger and stronger version of last years team. You guys have a deep line up this season. Its going to be even tougher to get through you guys than last season. I almost feel like I underestimated you guys this summer but didnt put into account that you only graduated 2 or 3 last season.
  10. So how many teams are in AAA now? I'm very confused with this whole division split. Also watch out for Jason Spoon(MW) this season. I heard he beat Vance at the take down tournament at the hill. Could be a bracket buster this season.
  11. How was the competition today at the takedown tournament? Who was there besides the Hill? Anybody tough? Anybody suprised?
  12. 106-Bynum(DC) 113-Blanco(JC) 120-Hudgen(SH) or Bishop(DB) 126-Lane(SH) or Pendley(TN) I really like Dewey's chances 132-Vaughn (SH) or Williams(ME) 138-Hurley(TN) or Jessee(SH) 145-Bagley(SH) or Vance(DC) 152-Broyles(MW) or Jeffers(DB) 160-Frye(DB) or Porter(ME 170-Spangler(TN) or Dean(DB) 182-Begley(DB) 195-Bagley (SH) 220-? 285-? I feel like those are the heavy hitters at eachweight for AAA. A couple are just guesses at what weights they will go.
  13. I agree for the most part. Dont for get storm williams from Morristown east. He could be anywhere from 126-138 this season I'm not sure. He should be a finalist. Where will Shane Jessee be? He will make it to state this year. Surely he won't be at 52. Although speaking of 52 I think its very possible to see broyles vs frye in the final but frye moved up 2 weights last season from 132 to 145 I wouldnt be surprised to see him at 52 or 60. Wouldnt be surprised to see Jeffers from DB or Porter ME in the finals with broyles, in which, I pick broyles as a lock. 52 could be interesting at small school! What about Bowman(G) vs Berg(SE) Also what does elizabethton have to offer this season? They graduated Callahan and Buck. What does that leave them with. Begely up at 82 is very suprizing but we could see a match with Spangler or Hunter Bagley? What about that costa kid from the hill? Heard a lot about him not only seen him a handful of times. Dont forget about vance from Greenville. I'd like see him and Hurley go at it.
  14. When will you be posting your rankings and are you also going to put them on here?
  15. Frye Bagley and Broyles I think could all place at 52. Im just unsure about how high they place
  16. It will be hard to keep him from getting a state title. Hes my pick at 52.
  17. is he for sure going 152? I know he wrestled 52 some over the summer. I figured he would cut back down to 45.
  18. Season is right around the corner and I'm dying to see where everyone stands!
  19. Hamilton is moving up to 60? That will shake things up at 52. Watch out for Bagley, Frye, and Broyles from region 1 at 52. All three of those guys could make some serious noise. If they are all at that weight it will be interesting.
  20. A little early don't you think? Lol Also there is 3 state tournaments now. AAA, AA-A, and private school.
  21. DB has a lot of kids doing other sports right now. When you say no Greenville or Morristown West i assume you're referring to Boatman and Broyles not being in the tournament. Not sure why those guys aren't competing. Boatman probably had something come up but I don't believe Griffen wrestled there last year either. I'm more surprised Williams isn't going.
  22. Didn't mean to offend anyone. Its just my opinion. They did win the individual region title last season and have 5 returning qualifiers with 2 of them being champions. Also the returning champs (Frye and Begley) have a great chance at placing this season.
  23. that has to be one of the biggest jumps I've ever seen!
