  1. endless fun, if only someone would sponsor a round robin of at least all three 1st place finishers and if you like expand it to include all 2nd place as well with one additional at large for each weight to include young men like Russo. I know you say it cant be done, but seriously y not - three hours three mats... And wouldn't the wrestlers being champions look forward to settling it?
  2. Boy don't we wish it could be settled on the mat one way or another... Come on TSSAA, some day find a way to settle it... Not going to defend circumstances matter. But wouldn't it be great If someone in this state held a March or April (to deal with dead period) invitational tourney for state placers 1-4 in all divisions give 5 pounds but must wrestle your division...
  3. I assure you 220 would not be a given to D2 Bagley gave up 2 escapes at State in five matches, one on purpose to try for a major, while he wrestled well under weight all year he was still the strongest kid in the weight class physically and mentally, My money biased as it may be, would be on Hunter, he has mastered how to manage a match for the W. His only mat loss came after a grueling overtime semi with a physical specimen from SC with nothing left in the tank for the final at the fandetti. Was tailored for a stall a thon counter type win in the final for a relatively fresh opponent. His other loss was in a tie on injury time when he hurt his knee first match of the season with the South Carolina State Champ (another physical beast who had to cut hard to make 220). No accounting for the fight and competitive spirit in that dog...
  4. when I was young in a different state we had a district, regional, then state individual tourney, but we didn't have a dual tourney, I think I prefer the value of a dual tourney for the team building aspect it helps reinforce. That said a 32 man tourney is huge, and with broader regional tourney or call it a sectional tourney wouldn't you expect to really start to shake loose the best 16 man bracket for a state championship. I have no dog in the fight anymore, just my thoughts. Further - (thurs, fri, sat night) is tooo long!
  5. wrestling has definitely improved in the Region. So proud of the fight in these young men, this shows the willingness to take on tougher teams out of region and travel offseason and in season pays. As a dad yes I'm going to give a shout out to Hunter publicly, your toughness and competitive drive have been an example to your young teammates and have made a big difference in showing these willing young men how to be tough and how to win, you have contributed to the future of the Hill greatly! Congrats on a terrific Senior Season to remember!
  6. Amazing and gratifying for these two teams is probably not stated well enough! These two teams had serious challenges compared to the field one in age and the other with holes in the lineup. It is fair two say the competitive streak these two bring out in each other has helped lead to this outstanding result. Iron sharpening iron! Yep they are both ready to be among the top teams in the state, keep building guys! proud of both teams!
  7. Congrats go bring home third, what a run shorthanded!
  8. I have to say the mutual respect and relationships between parents coaches and some of the kids in this matchup make it bittersweet. No team in the region we would rather share the stage with from this parents perspective I assure you! Best of luck Region 1!
  9. how great is this for Region 1 - I predict Science Hill by 4 pts on the rubber match! For better or for worse the Region1 crown is going to be determined today! what an awesome way to end the dual season!
