  1. So how has BA looked in scrimmages this year? Looks like a big year with those Dandy Dozen selections!!!
  2. Had the chance to come up this weekend and visit a bit with a few BA friends. Sounds like everything will work out just fine, unless something changes.
  3. Too funny! That really does look like him. Guess that is why the Titans lost too....
  4. Thanks KWood for your honesty. You almost encourage me to be an MBA fan for just a minute,,, but nah, I can't do that. lol You do call it like it is, even if it might be bad for your team and you deserve kudos for that. We are just bystanders and not the decision makers for sure. This is a great avenue to learn more about what is really going on in our respective programs and be a tiny voice toward what we think is best for them.
  5. Welcome aboard Big Dog!! First of all, I'm pretty well certain there are more than just the two that would like to see him at BA... I suppose all the new facilities and field turf went in because he has been doing such a bad job, in your opinion. I have a great deal of respect for JPII, they have an uphill battle in this division, but I see players who stick with their program and work hard every year to make it better. It takes time and as they grow over the years, these young men will find more and more success as they stick together. You say you have studied the stats; I gave specific examples about his record. Tell me what I missed? I see that in a five year or so span, the man won two state titles, which is a pretty darn good percentage. He had one down year during that time. Even BA has had down years. I think KWood said it pretty well earlier when, as an MBA fan, he would hate to see him at BA. His comments are usually very insightful. I also said earlier that I would not have a problem with promoting from within. If we were to do so, it needs to be someone with a great offensive mind, because Coach Potter handled most of that himself. This was a big part of his downfall. We are LOADED with defensive minds, great line coaches on both sides and we have a strength and conditioning program like no one else. Defense has not been our problem, an unpredictable offense has been. This is why I have looked for a person who has had success in their career, on the offensive side of the ball. A good place to start is someone who played at the highest levels and won. It is also a pretty good bet to find someone who has won as a coach. Look, he beat BA time and time again. If you beat coach Flatt, you have achieved something in the first place. To say Coach Rutledge is a horrible coach is the same as saying Coach Flatt was in his final years too. That makes no sense at all. However, every time I mention Coach Rutledge, I get very sketchy, disparaging comments about him from people who seem to have an axe to grind. I don’t see a ground swell of that from people who have been on here for a while. Those things have caused me to take a closer look at the man and I think he would be an even better fit for us than I originally thought. I was just throwing a name out at first. I have never met the man, but I like what I have found out thus far. Tell me what I missed..
  6. Here is another great example of someone who knows how to win. I don't know the man from Adam personally, but I was against the Potter hire five years ago and by doing some research, I am even more convinced now. If anyone has things to post about other candidates, I would like to see that too. I just want to see BA back where they should be. Ensworth and coach Bowers deserve alot of respect for what they have acheived. As I said before, we can't afford to miss on a pick again.... http://youtu.be/MWfAuR-yhSM
  7. I should have pointed out what the link was about. It is an interview I found with Jeff Rutledge when he was playing for Bear Bryant. I posted it because I really like what he had to say and I think his outlook fits the mission of BA very well. Also be sure to read the link that Shakin posted, very good article.
  8. Thanks for the post, great article! I'm out of state and miss much of the news media.
  9. http://youtu.be/3sMVLdvtEJA Body, Mind and Spirit. Great example here.
  10. Ok, thanks guys, I must have misread the original post. Surely they will have input.
  11. That makes no sense. Coach has no input?? Why would he not? Why not ask the builder how to fix the building??
  12. If you are really interested in seeing why we have issues, just take a few minutes to study this… Go to youtube.com and type in Brentwood Academy football. Watch the BA videos and answer these questions… Why was Joshua Pleasant not used more his senior year?? Why was Derek King barely used his senior year on offense, considering his speed?? What about an electrifying player like Weldon Garlington? Why were D1 prospects like Amos Mason and Woody Barron not used on both sides of the ball at all times, when considering putting your best eleven on the field? You guys ask the questions I have missed, there are many more..
  13. Absolutely, Curt has been an excellent headmaster. I really like the way he is going about this. No need to rush things, just be sure and get the right fit. Hopefully, he will also take the time to talk to assistant coaches, and players about what the issues have been over the past few years.
  14. My point is PJPII doesn't have the depth of a BA. If they have three QB prospects and they are all pretty equal and one is a big kid, I can absolutely see how they might say, Hey lets put this one on the line. I don't know much at all about David Pack. What is his background? Do you think he would work with our assistant coaches or would he want his own guys?
  15. Good points. I hadn't thought about coach Alexander, but it is hard to argue against picking him.
