  1. Not to take sides but Parr did put up his best games against the easier opponents and tended to disappear against the better teams (Dyersburg and Covington).. Also, he didn't have 20 TD receptions, but 20 overall.. (Many of which involved Fair getting OC down the field and Marcus running it in from a few yards out).. I don't think UCGRAD was trying to take a jab at the kid, just merely stating his opinion which does bare some weight.
  2. I believe the ball should have went to one of those 3 also.. Fair bc he probably the hardest person to tackle, Phipps is a very good passer for the high school level, and McGrew is the best WR on the team.. Parr is the best athlete on the team, but that is all, an athlete (no disrespect towards the kid). You don't have to be uber athletic to get a few yards on a 2 point conversion. In Parr's defense though, that was an awful play call. A slowly developing reverse/sweep taken 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage didn't help matters at all and really didn't give him much of a chance. Great year for the Rebs, and good luck to Covington in the playoffs.
  3. I said Covington played good defense at TIMES, dont get me wrong 400 yds and 36 points isnt good, but stopping a team on 3rd down and forcing them to a field goal or punt is. They came up big when they needed it, OC is a good team and its gonna be a battle tomorrow night, but whoever comes up big in bug defensive situations will win this game. Can't disagree with this.
  4. They gave up 36 points and over 400 yards of offense, that isn't good defense at any level.. I'm just being realistic, they struggled on defense.. Heck, OC's defense made a couple stops and forced a turnover, doesn't mean they played good defense bc they didn't..
  5. What people here really need to remember, is that Covington's defense struggled mightly against OC as well. The only reason people are talking about OC having a lask-luster defense is because Covington ended up on top on the score board. Just something for people to keep in mind...
  6. Article may be a bit premature. From what I hear, they have not been dismissed from the team for the year but are suspended for the Covington game...
  7. You know what they say, there is in shape, and then there is football shape. You hear it at every level, but it probably has its least relevance in the high school game (not including junior high).. But i agree, I highly doubt he is out of shape.
  8. I'm sure if you ask around and do a little research you can find out, but nobody should put names of the kids on here. Just my opinion.
  9. It is in my opinion a tad bit harsh suspending the kids for the rest of their careers for an off campus incident, but one has had past problems already with deeper issues and my guess is this is more more about life lessons. Can't blame the coach for that. From what I hear, at least one of the players apologized the his teammates and coaches.. Wish he didn't have to do that, but he did what was right in apologizing to his football family.
  10. Personally, I find it hard to believe the kid plays bc from what I hear his future is in baseball more likely and with his injury being a shoulder issue, its an awfully big risk. But, I have no idea where he is in his recovery so..
  11. One of which was the leading tackler in the county and one played and started alot at corner.. Bad decisions by a few kids that they will learn from... Next person up.
  12. It shouldn't look bad on Rebel Nation, but it does. Our fanbase already gets a bad rap deserved or not, thats just the way the world works. We live in a judgemental, stereotypical world. Just have to get over it.
  13. It is a shame if an adult went on you-tube and made inappropriate comments about any kids regardless of GPA. I tried to view the comments made, but they had already been removed. Hopefully it was just a kid who has some growing and maturing to do. Either way, looks bad up on Rebel Nation.
  14. Point was Williams will be most useful on defense rather than offense. Covington runs the ball just fine without him, but their pass defense isn't so great (rare that any high school team has a good pass defense). But i get your drift, it is never bad to have a kid of his caliber back playing. And just to rep my Rebels, I can think of 3 kids who, if you miss a tackle, you won't catch them from behind. Guess we'll see how it plays out Friday night.
  15. I'm not sure Williams' return has much impact on offense since Covington has had no problems running the ball without him for the majority of the year. I do agree with noles though (i'm a gator fan so this makes me sick lol) that his impact will be felt most in the secondary. I would line him up at Safety instead of corner since OC goes at least 3 deep at WR so he can play the ball more. Glad he is back so nobody has excuse as to why they won or lost (not a jab, but unfortunately some would make the excuse). Here is to a good game.. Go Rebs!
  16. I have watched the film and watched last weeks film too.. And last week, the Rebels stopped trying to strip the ball unless it was gang tackling (which against Covington, they tried to strip it everytime)... So can they, do they tackle or don't they, didn't "wanna" tackle?? Try not to sound so bitter of OC's success.
  17. Not by far, but hard to say he isn't. GREAT kid, deserves nothing but the best in his future.
  18. This is actually little surprise to anybody...
  19. Could you tell a little bit about them? By their record (7-3) it looks like they are pretty goood, but I did notice a couple of ugly scores on their schedule..
  20. Not condoning mrwilson talking about a kid but he brings up a good point. Some of OC's players should shut their mouths and play the game. I know trash talking occurs between players and that is part of the game, but no reason to run your mouth the to the refs. It is no wonder OC had 5 personal foul calls on them. It is a shame that the refs let kids get under their skin, but they are only human and it happens to the best of us. Focus on the game and stop being smart@sses to the refs and turning to the stands to "pump the fans up". Make a play and it will pump the fans up.
  21. OC has plenty of "want to". Don't characterize the traits of a kid or two who just want to strip the ball out, as the traits of other kids on defense. I have watched the Covington game and I saw one kid consistantly shy away from contact. I wouldn't say OC has no defense. They got shredded by Covington and that is really the only team that gashed them. Dyersburg just plucked away 4 yards at a time mostly and didn't turn the ball over besides the one fumble. That has been OC's defense the whole year, nothing dominating but steady and make you work to score your touchdowns. They were able to make the offenses have long drives and take advantage when the other team turned the ball over. Opportunistic, I guess you would say.
  22. It is easy to stop then run when the defense is play Cover 0 a lot of the time. It allows the safeties to come up and help defend the run. The only negative is that is puts your CBs out on an island and OC picked them apart. However, OC couldnt stop the run or the rare pass and that was the difference in this game. Hats off to DHS, they were able to stop OC on the their first couple drives and that is all they needed. They came and played like this was their Superbowl. Job well done.
  23. Stop it with that.. I'll give you LaDevin but this team would be perfectly fine without Marcus. Don't try to do that. He isn't even the best WR on the team.
