  1. How do you have Coalfield ahead of Greenback? Tiebreaker 1, Overall wins: Greenback 9 (assumes win over Harriman) Coalfield 9 (assumes wins over Cosby and Oakdale) Tiebreaker 2, wins against teams with winning records: Greenback 2 (Oneida, Cloudland) Coalfield 1 (Cloudland, may include Pigeon Forge) Tiebreaker 3, overall wins by opponents (this only matters if Pigeon Forge ends with winning record) Greenback 40 Coalfield 31 As of now, Greenback wins Tiebreaker 2. If Pigeon Forge wins last two games, Greenback and Coalfield are still tied and go to Tiebreaker 3, where Greenback wins 40 to 31.
  2. This is correct, from what I can figure: Quad 1 (Cloudland beats Sullivan East and Hampton): Cloudland Greenback Coalfield Copper Basin Lookout Valley Midway Quad 1 (Cloudland beats Sullivan East but loses to Hampton): Greenback Coalfield Cloudland Copper Basin Lookout Valley Midway There are other possibilities as well, but none that affect Greenback as being either number one or number two. I don't see a scenario where Greenback is lower than two unless they lose to Harriman.
  3. Impressed with Rockwood. They were the real deal. #3 was a monster. Good luck to the Tigers the rest of the way.
  4. Remains to be seen how GB will respond to the loss. Rockwood's a good team, and if GB isn't ready, Rockwood can win. But if GB plays to their capability, they should win this one. It's all about focus, and right now, the focus is entirely on Rockwood.
  5. Congrats to GCA. I hate to say that, but they deserve it. Good team with good athletes, and a very good defense. I wish we had five more minutes of game time at the end. It might not have changed the outcome, but the clock was killing us in the end. Hold your heads up, Greenback. You've got to get ready for the Rest of the Season. It begins now.
  6. I used "signees" because "prospects" is nearly impossible to quantify. Anyone can be a "prospect" if his parents say he is. The only way to verify, is to look at signees, and see how that compares. If a team claims to have multiple "prospects" one would think there would be at least one "signee," at least occassionally. Since there are rarely signees that come from Single A, then it's also fairly safe to say there are also very few legitimate D1 prospects. See? The real point I think you're trying to make is that Greenback doesn' t have any talent. If that's what you're saying, then just come out and say it. This whole "D1 prospects" thing is your way of trying to be snarky, isn't it?
  7. Not sure I understand your response, but I'll answer my own question. Last year, state champ Wayne County had zero D1 signees. Other classifications: 2A CAK, Signees: 0 3A Henry County, Signees: 1 4A Friendship, Signees 0 5A Greenville, Signees: 0 6A Maryville, Signees: 2 Most often a Single A team ranked #1 in the state will have ZERO D1 signees.
  8. Seriously? Your measure of Single A football success is how many D1 players they have? How many D1 signings came out of last year's Single A state champs? For that matter, how many D1 players came out of the state champ teams from ANY classification?
  9. This post got me out of lurking purgatory. I've been reading CoachT for quite a while, but never posted until now. Great post! You really nailed the issue. I also want to agree with your point about Grace folks being solid. I don't really know any, but I'm sure the majority are simply good fans. However, there is no doubt that a private school will have a distinct advantage over a public school in games like this. Your example of adding two or three extra players to the Greenback squad is spot on. Nice job on the post! Now I'll go back into dormancy.
