He don't speak for me, I'm pulling for Huntingdon to get that gold ball! The only game that I pull for the other team is when we meet. Swenson is due. Good luck in the playoffs.
+1 I root for you guys as well when you're not playing the Mustangs. Hope you guys make another run this year!

Classy post
To be expected from McKenzie's finest. Let him have his moment. They've won a few in a row. Only 40 more to go for little brother to bring this series close to even again.

Fill us in on this. What inferior team has beat them in early rounds? Name 1.
Just another troll ..
But trying to think the most recent thing I can remember is 2013 loss to Memphis Mitchell in the 2nd Rd after a 1st round bye. But gotta go back 10 years for that.
Every other year since it seems we've just run into a juggernaut at the wrong time.

Looks like there could have been 3 nominated from Huntingdon according to unapproved website stats 12 and 21 lead the team in yards.
For sure. Most of the players nominated (looking at 1A specifically) the top stats guys are part of a 1-man-show offense. Granted, there's some something to be said for being the one everyone knows is going to get the ball every play and still being able to execute, but Huntingdon spreads carries around pretty even to Eubanks, Hutcherson, and Warbritton. If you rolled their stats into one player carrying this team, you'd have a no-doubter Mr Football.

Where can you find the stats?
I pulled the ones I posted off of Preps Maximus. Can't guarantee the accuracy, but by quick glance they seem pretty close.

Not knocking Eubanks at all he is a very good player and leader of the offense but yes 36 plays a very active role on the defensive side. Called his name out more than a few times
For sure, he's the best player on the defensive side of the ball, imo. You're likely to hear his name called a dozen times per game as evidenced by his 100+ tackles on the year. The kid is ALWAYS around the ball.

Stone Wallace 73-116-1332 yards passing (18.24) 17 tds.
79 rushes for 840 yds (10.6) 13 tds
2172 total yards 30 tds
Just going off the stats, Stone has to be the favorite to win it this year. If not for being injured, I would've thought Des would get a nomination this year. As good as Wallace is, I think its 25 that makes this offense go.

Grays a good player but if anyone from Huntingdon should have been nominated it should have been #36 CJ best all around player for Huntingdon. And never comes off the field.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but this award typically goes to players with the offensive stats to show for it, which happens to be Gray for this team.
But I've said for 2 years to anyone who will listen that CJ is the most underrated player on this team. But he's definitely a bigger force on defense than he is on offense. Defensively he leads the team in tackles, with over 100 credited to him this year. And he's around the ball on EVERY play even if he's not necessarily the one who made the tackle. Pelinero may actually be the unspoken MVP of this team. Gonna be the hardest to replace next year, imo.

Gray Eubanks - Huntingdon
20/41 Passing - 303 yards - 4 TD's
141 carries - 838 yards - 18 TD's
1,141 Total yards - 22 TD's.
Leads the team in TD's, but as part of a 3-headed rushing attack hence the lack of overall yardage. But he's our go-to player in short yardage positions.

DIVISION I, CLASS 2A
Gray Eubanks, Huntingdon
Cole Gregory, Trousdale County
Isaiah Groves, East Robertson
Darien Meza, Mt. Pleasant
Stone Wallace, RiversideOf course I love to see a Huntingdon kid in the semifinalist list. I'm not super familiar with anyone else other than the kid from Riverside.
Anyone have stats available for these kids?
-
I think it's Dawson White, personally. Probably could have and maybe should have won it last year.. Wouldn't surprise me to see the South Pitt kid win it. They seem to always have a finalist for some reason..

So they think Mt P is better than Collierville and TCA? I don’t think Mt P will put 48 on on Riverside.
I don't think they put up half that on Riverside. I see Riverside winning something like 41-14.

Didn't want to be accused of copying anyone lol. And so many toss ups in the first round. That, and the fact that I know almost NOTHING about east teams this year that weren't in the top 10.

I think the best team I have personally seen from Huntingdon is the year Lake County beat them in the semifinals in Huntingdon. 2019 if I’m thinking correctly.
That's a good pick. I thought that team was winning state for sure. But I felt the same way about the 2017 and 2018 teams that lost to cornersville. Expectations have been tempered since then. A couple 2nd round exits have humbled us. Last year I felt like we had a good shot as well until Riverside came to town.
This team is heavy with juniors so if we don't get it done this year, we return most of the team next year. After that we may see the real window close for a bit. I know the kids from middle school coming up have some talent, but you never truly know how that's going to translate to high school.

While I think Huntingdon’s offensive ground game is strong, week in and week out. I only remember completing 2 passes last night. One was a 5 yd loss and the other was a 2 point conversion. I feel like this should have been more of a point of emphasis in these games leading up to the playoffs. There will be a point in the playoffs where we have to pass it to keep the defense honest.
I agree 100%. There wasn't any point of that game that we weren't in control. The fumble/return is the only reason the score was close in the first quarter. Maybe they didn't want to put anything on film right before the playoffs, but we didn't open up the playbook past page 3 last night for some reason.

I don’t see this game being close. Anything to the outside and Huntingdon is off to the races. Just not our year.
I get it. Huntingdon has been blessed with the run they've been on the last several years, seeming like we have a contender every year, but it won't always be that way and every person knowledgeable about football knows that. But I'm sure improvements are on the horizon for Waverly.
Really, I wouldn't mind a bit of a challenge in Rd 1. I feel like it's hurt us in the past rolling to easy wins in the first couple rounds and then getting punched in the mouth in the 3rd or 4th. I feel reasonably certain the real state championship in 2A will be played in the West, but between, Huntingdon, Riverside, Loretto, Lewis Co, or one of the Memphis teams, I can't say there's a clear-cut favorite.
-
If Waverly doesn't throw the ball around like they used to, it's going to be a long night. Huntingdon run defense is stout, but can be gashed at times if our safety has to truly respect the pass. If they are truly a one-man show with the Stanfield kid, I don't see this game being close. Watch for #36 of Huntingdon to be in double digit tackles. He is ALWAYS around the ball.
I don't know what kind of defense Waverly has. I know they gave up 50+ to Camden early in the year so that doesn't bode well for them. For Huntingdon's offense, everyone knows what you're gonna get. A heavy dose of the run with a pass or three mixed in if we start seeing those safeties crash down. A defense who's disciplined, physical, and can tackle well has a chance to slow us down.

My gut tells me that Riverside wins this one with ease. Especially after the beat down they just put on Milan. I say Riverside wins by 3+ scores.

On first instinct, I feel like the home team wins all 4 of these games.
