  1. I won't necessarily be one of them, but you can expect the crowd in Huntingdon to be loud(er) if Swenson doesn't play for a gold ball this year..
  2. I wouldn't be so sure of that. When you look at 4 year cycles, 2024 will be the end of a window for Huntingdon. Everyone said when this current junior class were 8th graders that this team was going to be special. Yes, they've been very successful, but ultimately have fallen short. We will have a major senior class graduate next year, and I could foresee some drop off after they're gone. I saw a few things from a couple sophomores and freshmen that give me some hope that we can have some kids step up and not fall off a cliff after next year. Seems Huntingdon almost always have talent coming up, but if we don't win gold next year I could see a 2-3 year span before we are legit contenders again.
  3. CLASS 1A ROUND 4 EAST (2) Oliver Springs vs (1) South P WEST (1) McKenzie vs (1) Dresden CLASS 2A ROUND 4 EAST (1) York Institute vs (2) East Robertson (2) Riverside vs (1) Fairley
  4. Depends on what style of football you like. Football is a physical sport. Personally I really enjoy watching offenses like Huntingdon and Union City. There's just something to be said for a team that comes in and tells you exactly what they're going to do and they just punch you in the mouth repeatedly and execute and there's nothing you can do about it. I love the physicality. You're not wrong in saying that it's definitely not a come-from-behind offense. The game is predicated on time of possession and getting enough stops on defense. Huntingdon has recently thrown in some pass play wrinkles, but it's just to keep the defense somewhat honest so they can't put 11 in the box. That's also fun to watch. It's just so hard to consistently have success passing the ball at the 1A and 2A level. There are obvious exceptions to that when you have a generational QB, but that's hard to bank on year in and year out.
  5. Definitely not that. I didn't even leave the house yesterday. Lol. Distracted while watching football I guess and the editor saved my picks and I clicked on the wrong thread. Best I can guess.
  6. CLASS 1A ROUND 3 EAST QUAD 1 (1) Coalfield vs (2) Oliver Spgs QUAD 2 (1) SP vs (1) Gordonsville WEST QUAD 3 (1) MooreCo vs (1) McKenzie QUAD 4 (1) Dresden vs (2) Union City CLASS 2A ROUND 3 EAST QUAD 1 (1) Hampton vs (1) York Institute QUAD 2 (1) Smith Co vs (2) East Robertson WEST QUAD 3 (1) Huntingdon vs (2) Riverside QUAD 4 (1) Memphis Business vs (1) Fairley Here's my early picks. I'm still a bit in the air on Hampton/York so I may revisit that one after I've done a little more reading. Should be some REALLY good football games this weekend.
  7. Very interesting that UC-MASE and Hampton-Bledsoe were the 2 biggest toss ups in this week's games and we're probably the 2 most competitive games of the week. Hampton with the last minute comeback and clock just ran out on the MASE comeback.
  8. Absolutely. Milan was moving the ball pretty well until the 2 picks that led to TDs and then the punt return for a TD. Milan went from being up 14-7 to down 28-14 in a matter of minutes and never could recover. Huntingdon possessed the ball for literally the ENTIRE 3rd quarter after an 8 min opening drive and then the Milan fumble on the kickoff. At the point it was a running clock.
  9. That's probably the closest to complimenting Huntingdon you've ever come! Haha. Thanks. You guys got a tough team. Just didn't catch the breaks in this game. Came out and punched us in the mouth in the first quarter. Had me worried for a bit, to be honest. But this Mustang team didn't fold like some in the past would have. They punched back and it was all Mustangs after the 1st. We didn't come out really sharp and Milan took advantage. Good teams fight back though, and that's what we did tonight. We've heard all week how it's hard to beat good teams twice.. Now we gotta do it again next week.
  10. 49-20 after Milan scores on the last play of the game. Final. Mustangs ready for Riverside next week.
  11. Huntingdon takes the ball after halftime and drives down the field for 8+ mins and scores a TD. 35-14 MUSTANGS 3:50 Left in the 3rd. Milan fumbles the the kickoff and mustangs recover. 3 plays later mustangs score again on a pass by Eubanks. 42-14 Mustangs
  12. Huntingdon. Milan won the toss and chose to receive.
  13. Once the Mustang defense started closing in on those little screen passes, this game turned around. Milan is having very little success in the run game and Huntingdon has ok intercepted 2 passes now and turned them into TD's.
  14. And she must've really done you dirty for you to hate Huntingdon like you do.
  15. I don't think we're stuck on the first game with Milan. Even less with the Milan/Riverside score. Everyone in Huntingdon knows Milan is always a threat to jump up and beat us. The rivalry isn't taken lightly. It's just that everyone knows that Milan didn't play their best either of those nights, but only Huntingdon fans recognize that we really didn't in that first game either. Relative to how we've played the last few weeks. It's just a confidence in how our team has been clicking lately to bring a more CONSISTENT team. If for some reason we don't have that consistency tomorrow and we have a couple bad bounces or get behind the sticks, we will be in trouble vs Milan.
  16. I don't that it's about them getting "better." Not at this point in the season. I think they just didn't bring their A-game vs Riverside. They came ready to play vs Lewis Co. That combined with the fact that Lewis and Riverside aren't even in the same conversation in regards to competition is why Milan looked so good last week. That being said, if they play this week like they did last week and Huntingdon doesn't come out sharp, Milan has a team that can beat us. I think both teams playing their best that Huntingdon wins, but a few bad bounces could really swing this game into Milan's favor.
  17. @Southtowner I want to change one of my picks. Just this. My early opinion was Fayetteville been here before and they're almost always super athletic, but after reading their thread this week and really diving into their respective records, I think Smith gets this one.
