  1. Did we watch the same ballgame? Looked very athletic to me. Shut down Masengil all game and made some very athletic shots. She will be Ms. Basketball next year, no doubt. Macie is good, but tourny MVP (if Obion wins it) will be Goodman.
  2. Oh and I might as well make a prediction while I'm at it. It will be a tough game for both teams. I expect another physical game, but the refs will get in the way. They always do. This one is a coin toss, and............ its heads so I'll take CHS by 1. This team has overachieved, as they are really a year away from being a state title team. I consider it a victory just getting to the elite 8. Coach Morgan and Young have done an excellent job getting this team to the state. Proud to be a Charger. Good luck Chargerettes!
  3. Well, Central is NOT McMinn County (two different schools) lol. People from Mcminn Central call the school Central because that is the name of the school. Obion County Central High School vs. Central High School of McMinn County
  4. I chuckled a little at it. Just kids being kids. May have taken it a little too far, obviously they offended some people. Especially the ADULT that stood up and flipped them off. It was a sad situation to see. They are kids, he was an ADULT. I'm sorry for the Grundy fans that might be judged by that one person's reaction. I know Grundy fans are classy people that are passionate about their kids. Congrats on the season, lets just drop the fussin and fightin. Thanks, hope we meet again next year.
  5. This was a good, hard fought, physical and exciting game! Central slowed it down in 4th quarter to run some time off. Hence the 9 point win, instead of the 15 point win, IMO. If Trentham doesnt get in foul trouble early, the rout would have continued, but that's a part of the game. Have to credit that to the Lady Jackets offense. They took it to the post last night and wore Central out on several occasions. Defense tightened up as well and took Central's role players out of the ball game. That's when Masengil had to take over and she was unstoppable last night. She is very strong when taking it up to the basket and VERY deserving of the Miss Basketball Title she is going to receive next week. You don't win a state tourny MVP in 2011, have the season and tournament she's having in 2012 and not be worthy of Miss Basketball. PS: Free throws are a crucial part of the game of basketball. Central took care of business, for the most part, from the line and Grundy failed. Good game, hope we meet Grundy again! Nice to see the fan support from Grundy County. A lot of proud people from that part of the state. It's ashame one team had to lose, but its over now. We can stop bickerin at each other.
  6. You would probably get more replies in the BASEBALL forum.
  7. I sure hope they can tell the difference between football and baseball!
  8. For same position? I'm pretty sure Tellico already made a head coach hire. Hearing a lot of news out of McMinn County about it.
  9. He coached them to the state championship game in 93'
  10. Hope so. Like I said earlier, If these coaches can not win with what they have next season, then bye bye. They have to be gone if next season is bad. Oh, to answer your question logcabinman, anyone that wants Central to do well and doesn't bash the team like BC93, is considered to be a coach on here. I'm sure they have better things to do than look on this board in the offseason. I would hope they are focused on offseason workouts!
  11. I'm not 100% sure, but I do not believe Coach Goodin was there for Stiles and Green's offseason. Wasn't he hired in June? Not alot of time to make an impact, IMO.
  12. 1. They are and do every off season. 2. I agree! 3. Know for a fact that you are wrong here. 4. Also agree and I know they put a lot of stock into it as well.
  13. I can agree with this, but I also believe THIS is the year we can judge the coaches. This team is going to be the most talented Central has had in 3 years. I can honestly see 6-10 wins with the group. If its not anywhere close to that, then we have a problem. I'm not going to drop names but there are several new (talented) kids playing next season. Hope the rumors are true!
  14. Still no coach hired? They need to dial up BallCoach93! Seriously though, any real names out there yet?
  15. Yeah, I do as well. No way I can bring the same character and integrity that you offer this forum.
  16. Wow, BC93. That takes a lot of fortitude to call a man "chicken-s***" on an online forum. You are my hero! I hope I can be as big of a man as you are some day.
  17. Just the same stuff I heard through that grapevine back in October-November....One of those, as you posted, is working out with the team!
  18. Sorry to strike a nerve here. Did not "crack" on Coach Derrick, he was a good coach IMO. Everything you mentioned was great, I already knew most of that. However, my "opinion" on his discipline was based solely on a conversation I had with someone close. I was told that Derrick said himself that he had no control over those kids. I'm guessin now that the guy may have been full of it. That staff was doing the best they could with kids that had little to no discipline in their life. If Derrick would have had a tougher discipline code, these kids would have quit day 1. So should Goodin slack up a little more on discipline to get more kids to play and stay?
  19. Which he never had while he was here. Don't get me wrong, he done some good things for Central, but he had little control. Discipline is a huge factor for kids not coming out and staying out, IMO. Kids today dont understand how to be disciplined and work hard to achieve a goal. Most have been given everything and this has taught them "entitlement." This breeds laziness. Discipline is something that has to be taught from an early age. When a kid faces discipline for the first time of his life, how does he react? (due to the environment created by his parent(s)/gaurdian(s)) he naturally retaliates, kicks back, fights it, QUITS, etc.... If Coach Goodin and his staff are trying to implement disclipline, its a tough road. A lot of times you are just going against the grain, so to speak. Goodin would have more players come out and stay out if it wasn't for discipline. Would you trade discipline for wins? Hard to say. For the sake of McMinn Central and fans, I hope Goodin and his staff stick together and right the ship. I have a question regarding my last statement, before I close. What would be "turning the program around" or "righting the ship?" Is Central supposed to be a perennial powerhouse in Class AA? Or we wanting to at least compete? Whats the solution? Should we expect to be like Alcoa? I know BallCoach would have Central winning 8-10 games a year , but is that normal for Central? Let me know where everyone believes Central should be in the years to come. 2012 prediction; at least(7-3) without any excuses! PS: my secret has to do with basketball
  20. Well said Blitz, this post is very similar to the one I posted last week. Posts like this get looked over because of the reasoning and rationale. You cannot rationalize with irrational people. At least someone on here shares my thoughts about the situation. IF next year is not good (without attrition and with some additions) then coaches should be accountable. *Still hoping what I've heard is true. If so, once again, LOOKOUT CHS!
