  1. Well, not too far from game time. Let's go Vikings!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Two hours and counting. Let's go Vikings!!!!!!!
  3. Fans that didn't see the Dresden/McKenzie game or didn't hear about it might be surprised, but the Humboldt team and coaches will not be surprised by Dresden's talent/physicalness/size/effort/desire. They saw it first hand at the game. Almost all the starters and backups were at the game and all the coaches were too so I can assure you that NO Humboldt player or coach is cocky, arrogant, overconfidant, or big-headed. We feel good about our team, and you feel good about yours. We just have to wait and see who comes out on top. Hope it's Humboldt. Go Vikings!!!!!
  4. I wasn't at the Dresden/McKenzie game, but I've been told that the Rebels looked very flat. Of course, this doesn't take anything away from Dresden because they beat McKenzie so badly. I think even if McKenzie had not been flat, Dresden still would have won. Their qb is hard to contain from what I understand, so our def line and linebackers will have their hands full. I also understand they can break it outside so the ends have to be disciplined. Can our line handle their heavy blitzes? I think that will be the key because it doesn't matter how fast we are if there is no hole to run through. Their defensive end (I think it's 86) is VERY good, I am told, so that complicates running to the outside. I am hoping for a Humboldt victory Friday night. Go Vikings!!!!!
  5. I hope this prediction comes true!!!!
  6. Hog, we all know the size and power and speed Dresden has. Film and last Friday night's game prove that. Our kids have those things, too, and work hard. I think that's why they have shown such improvement over this season alone, not to mention from last year to this year. There have been times when the work hasn't matched the talent, but this year our kids have figured out that they can't just have talent, not that all of them didn't know that. Many kids have known but not all of them. This year the whole team has worked hard. I assure you that us complimenting our players in no way means we are disrespecting your players or saying that you don't have kids with the same talents. Dresden is a talented bunch and will be VERY tough to beat. I can't speak for everyone, but me complimenting our players is a way to show support for our team, not disrespect yours. Hope our Vikings are working hard this week in practice. Go Vikings!!!!
  7. Great post, and I hope you're right! Coach Lane has done a fantastic job as offensive coordinator, and so has Driggers as the defensive coordinator. Any time I have ever tried to compliment either men, they just say that they didn't do anything, that it was the kids. They don't take any credit, so it leaves me and others to give them credit here. Of course, the kids deserve the credit, too. It is an entire team effort from Coach Bland to Coach Lane and Coach Driggers to the players to the managers to the trainers to the team doctor. The kids have responded to their coaches and are giving 100% effort, and that's all you can ask of them. I too feel we haven't reached our potential and put together a complete game. I hope Humboldt will do this Friday. Go Vikings!!!!!
  8. What?! You have obviously never seen Wizard of Oz!!! That lion danced his giant paws off!!!
  9. Coach Driggers has done an excellent job, and so has Coach Lane with the offense. Great coaching combined with experience and effort now produces the current Vikings. I don't think anyone is trash talking. As a matter of fact, this thread has been quite fun and cordial, especially after reading the McKenzie/Dresden thread. Both fan bases have been respectful, and I think we are all looking forward to a great game Friday. Hope we come out on top! Go Vikings!!!!
  10. Ysoangry, we at Humboldt understand. Our kids have been called many names in the past, and I think we've just learned to ignore it and simply play ball. At least I hope that's the case! You have a great team in Dresden and everyone knows it. We are confident in our team, too. I expect a great game by two great teams. As for the refs, like Forrest said, you never know what you are gonna get. I also hope they don't inject themselves in the game and that they aren't attention hogs. If they have to call penalties, I pray they'll BE FAIR! There can't be holding on just ONE team out there and there can't be a mysterious holding call after a team runs for a long td!!! Those phantom calls kill me! So, I just want a cleanly called game, and I hope our Vikings have the higher score at the end of the night.
  11. Man, Dresden. Is there anyone you DON'T have a rivalry with or haven't pissed off?? Decaturmom seems particularly angry at you. And once again, Go Vikings!!!
  12. Ok, Vikings. Have a great week of practice! Ready to see you have your best game of the season this Friday. Everyone doing his job, no turnovers, smashmouth football, physical, smart, disciplined, focused rage, determination, energized, executing plays, punishing, speed, versatility, precision, excellence, brotherhood, Humboldt pride, victory. The Viking faithful will be behind you 100%! We are proud of you!!
  13. Thanks, Red. We enjoyed the trip to your place (such nice folks!), and we have been rooting for you ever since. Hate that you were knocked out of the playoffs, but I anticipate you bouncing back. Have a good offseason and spring practice!
