  1. Yeah big win against rival Dickson and then lose to Cheatham. I watched Cheatham play fairview and was anything but impressed with them. I hope Hickman can pull it out but have not seen CreekWood play since 2007 I believe it was.
  2. Have you seen 45 play yet? I promise he will make you look stupid if you underestimate him. They have a 3 year starting QB who will also put big plays on you If you aren't careful. I believe Lewis will pull it out due to more depth and a more experienced coaching staff... But it will be far from an easy win or a blowout.
  3. Lewis will win this one, although I do not think it will be as blown out as some think. #45 for east will keep the game close even if he has to do it by himself. They could pull it out in the end and win by a touchdown, but I doubt it... More than likely score will be something like 35-28 Lewis winning.
  4. Well it was ugly... But it was a win. Wayne county never gave up, just like what I seen in their game film from riverside. Great sportsmanship from Wayne county. One player even helped stretch our RB whenever he cramped up. Just can't beat having kids like that on your team. As for the refs, what is the deal with all of the penalties? Not just on us but even on Wayne county. It was ridiculous... One for pointing at another kid ? A hundred holding calls where it doesn't even matter. (Holding occurs every play) on a both teams. It is just getting to the point where you can't even play football anymore. Good luck to Wayne the rest of the year.
  5. Them cats came to play... Can they catch up second half? Or will those dawgs take off with it? Who knows bc so far both teams have been disappointing, and way too many penalties both ways. Awful first half in my opinion.
  6. Our pass protection has been ten times better than last year, last year was awful on protection so idk if that is saying very much, but so far this offseason, we have yet to take a sack.
  7. Possibly, our D has struggled a little this offseason. BUT... When our offense is scoring so quick, it wears our Defense out. That's your problem... Keeping us from scoring each drive, I don't think Wayne's defense can catch our RB or cover our pass. We will see though. Hopefully both teams will stay injury free tomorrow night considering it isn't a district game.
  8. I am proud of what the current coaching staff has done with the east team so far. I'm not close to the program what so ever, so I don't know the behind the scenes details... But they are winning ball games, and by big margains. That is getting the town fired up, and even more so when centerville and east play each other. We don't have much here, so having sports to be excited about is a great thing for this county. I hope they keep up their winning streak... Well until they play us.
  9. That's what I have been hearing, that Wayne did not play to their full potential last Friday. I am hoping for a good game, hate it when I have to sit through an entire half having to watch the JV play. I know to never count anyone out. 2 years ago everyone in the State had Page High picked to beat us, and up until the 4th quarter they had a 21 point lead on us, we ended up winning by 7 I believe. I did see that Wayne does not give up. Riverside put 13 on them quick and Wayne came right back and scored.
  10. Just seen riverside vs Wayne game film...if Wayne Co. Plays this Friday like they did in that game.... The game will be over with by halftime. Without a doubt.
  11. Only 4 more days and we will all find out. They had a Bye week 0 so only an actual game will tell. But by watching their scrimmages I would say they will be competing for top of the district this year. Ofc I am biased however lol.
  12. That's the Union City paper? Ofc they are going to report they did good... It's the coaches who give them that statement, and what coach is going to down his team before the season even starts. I am just saying, I was there on the sidelines blowing the whistle for the game... I witnessed it first hand. We alternated each series between first string and 2nd string. Union City played their second string only the very last series they had. Union City only brought 25 kids with them is why they did not play second string against our second string... None the less our second string scored on their varsity once, and our varsity scored twice first play of each series.
  13. Yeah, that was a year after I graduated. RB was a big guy, but did break some records for the school that year and went on to play college ball. I do not remember who the QB was that year however. Our RB this year is around 5'10 170 pounds ? Possibly. Very quick guy and probably one of the strongest on the team, believe his power clean was somewhere over 400lbs this year. Our QB is about 5'11 180 pounds. A couple of decent size lineman but not much height to them. It will surprise me if Wayne isn't as big or bigger than HC in size. The only years I recall us being bigger than our opponents were 06-08. They don't feed us right around here.
  14. What kind of size does Wayne Co. Have? So far in every scrimmage we have played, we have been the smallest body size team. Not very many big boys on the team but tough none the less. We are very well coached though. I have yet to see a Hickman football team as well coached as last season and this season. Always an interesting game to watch.
  15. He has not taken a sack yet "knock on wood". The O-line has improved 200% since last year.
  16. We don't have water boys, we have water girls. Hard to throw them in there or we might have. Hickman has a few kids to watch, a 3 year starting QB (Channel 4 player of the week against Page High School sophomore year, broke school record for most passing yards in one season), 3 year starting Wr/Saftey(all district 12aa 2 years I believe) 3 year starting center, a new RB who has looked good so far. Will be a good game I think. Possibly high scoring for both teams. Haven't heard much about Wayne County. Any big players to be watching for?
  17. I actually had high hopes this year for Fairview not being so good. With losing so much talent, but as I said before... They played much better as a team than I have seen them play. Very few mistakes, and were better in sync with one another on plays. Less big gain plays than normal but smashed the ball down chathams throat all night. Actually impressed me more than what I seen out of them last year. Could be a dangerous team this year, the game this week will tell. I'll be pulling for you guys as usual until we play each other. So good luck and hope it's a injury free night for both teams.
  18. Oh, then our JV scored on Union City's varsity as well... With our 4th string running back. A sophomore. With a sophomore o-line and a freshman QB..
  19. Also their was no chains for first down and each team got as many plays as the coaches wanted to see until they swapped possessions.
  20. Hold up, Union City did not beat Hickman in a scrimmage, it was not game situation and did not have actual refs, I know because I was an acting ref. we just blew the whistle to end the play. Hickman played their varsity one series and then JV a series. And did that the whole game. When Hickman had their varsity in, first play hand off to RB 80 yard touchdown run. Next series varsity was in, 70 something yard touchdown pass. Union city played their varsity the entire game besides the very last offensive series they had. So actually Hickman varsity VS UC varsity the score was 15-7 (we went for 2 on first touchdown) Hickman leading. Our varsity on each side of the ball only played 3 series. Hickman beat East Robertson in first scrimmage, tied with Clarksville(5A) in the next scrimmage, Beat harpeth in jamboree, and beat Union City (Varsity vs Varsity)
  21. Any word on what Wayne has this year? I know we played them in a scrimmage last year and for the most part ran all over them. But they had just lost a bunch of starters then, so I am just curious on how they are doing now.
  22. Went to watch Fairview play last night, due to Hickman having a Bye game. Cheatham was very slow and under talented. They have a few kids who have talent but not enough to get them very far. Within the first 2 minutes of watching the game, I had already called that Fairview would run away with it, and they did very quickly. Fairview has a good team. It is always hard to tell by game 1 what their potential is. I seen a Qb who looked a little fumbly and nervous at times, but who also made big plays and could fake the ball extremely well. I seen Fairview had talent deep in the backfield #22 and #23 played well and so did #5. I believe there were 1 or 2 more who did well but cant remember numbers. It was hard to tell about fairview's passing game, because Cheathams coverage was horrible. Cheathams corners both looked like linebackers who could possibly even play the line. They were slow and were way too concerned with reading run. None the less, Fairview did well passing the ball against them. I believe they will be better tested this week against Camden. I say Fairview will win this week as well, just by a smaller margin. oh, cant forget the defense. Fairview swarms to the run and covered the pass well. The only bad I found in the Defense was the time Cheatham scored, they looked as though they had never seen a guy who could take a side step ten times to the endzone. But hey, when you win by that much you are allowed to make a couple of mistakes. Fairview also played much better as a team than I have seen them play in the last few years.
  23. Not real sure where the dividing line is. It is different in all places in that area. For some reason I want to say past the corner store is the line on hwy 100 but I maybe wrong. East has just as many if not more players than Centerville has. I know in the final years before the split, the team was almost split in half between centerville kids and east kids.
  24. I could be wrong, but I believe a couple of their Wr's might have been injured in that game. Could have been the reason for not slinging the ball around so much. Also they were probably trying to keep HC and also Lewis county(coaches were there) from seeing everything they have for the season. I noticed HC did not show very much at all, a couple big pass plays... A huge run play... And then bam second string was in running standard stuff. I did not think either team showed a whole lot of stuff defensively either.
