I work with Dressers dad. He will be enrolling in Arlington as a freshman if not at Arlington rumor has it that he would consider Briarcrest as 5 or 6 of his Dulins Dodgers team members will be enrolled there as well. Either way the kid will not be in Dresden so enjoy watching this special kid while you can. Dressers dad wants him to play the toughest competition out there which is why he plays summer baseball with Dulins and they travel throughout the US finding such competition. He will be a 3 sport star in high school but it will be his sister the track star that has the bigger career.

Arlington played a great ballgame, particularly #22 and #17. They just didn't have an answer for team speed. Great win, Whitehaven. Tough task next week against a White Station team that is peaking at the right time.

As #22's father I say thanks. It was a heartbreaking loss and my son's last high school game. However he does get 1 more shot on the high school grid iron when he plays in the Liberty Bowl All-Star game at MUS on Dec. 10.

How are you going to feel tomorrow night when this terrible Arlington team comes into your home and ends your teams season. I guess we know what you will eating for Thanksgiving..crow. Round 2 of the playoffs. No Jeff. Co. football but still 3 IMAC teams alive. Unfortunately, 2 will play each other. At least we will have a team in the quarters.

 

Sevier Co. vs Dobyns-Bennett - SC returns to the scene of there only loss, a 1 point loss on a missed extra point (@#$% kickers). I think SC goes back and gets revenge in a close game.

 

Mo. East vs Mo. West - East definitely will have the shortest distance of any "away" team in the second round (about 20 yards). This game was an instant classic the first time around. Seeing them play Jeff back to back weeks, they both were impressive. I think West is better, but this game will be a war! I am taking West by 1.

... How far WEST have you Traveled on Friday Nights?!?! How many points has Maryville given up this season? Whitehaven has given up 65 in 11 games! That's why I say those 4 maybe the BEST in the State or even Mid-South.

They need to be the BEST in the state to stop Arlingtons air attack. And for pats73 Arlington does have a running game we just don't run. Arlington spreads the ball to 5 different atheletes that can all take it home. This is going to be a very good game.

How can Da Haven not have any Mr. Football Finalists? Best Defense and arguably best team in state. We SHUT DOWN Brain Kimbrow and everyone else we played. Well guess we will have to prove it for 4 more weeks. Feel sorry for the teams in 6A now disrespecting Da Haven like that.

Da Haven beat White Station 26-17 dosen't sound like you drilled them. Arlington also beat White Station 20-13. How is getting beat 10-7 by Smyrna being robbed. Interceptions and fumbles cost you that game. Sounds like your whinning about a loss. I like your retort, but one question, were you guys missing your starting QB and RB in the scrimmage?

 

We were.

Now that you ask yes we were missing our starting RB, a 2 time all district RB and 3 year starter, and we were missing another 3 yr starter on defense. The DB that was missing has 6 interceptions in 5 games this year, he too is a 2 time all district DB and 3 year starter. Both seniors and leaders. Yes we played our starting QB but several key components were missing. We may not have been as short handed as you but we were short handed none the less.

2 things my guy....

 

1.) Let me give you the numbers if the folks who are big time players who DID NOT PLAY in that scrimmage as we had track guys and soccer soccer guys missing. Now if and when u get to see some film of Whitehaven you'll understand exactly why Arlington was "SO IMPRESSIVE"

 

Players who didn't play in that game are the following: #5, 3, 7, 9, 10, 17, 1, 15, 52. I think we had more lineman out but I can't remember as I dealt with the Skill positions over a whitehaven. Regardless, we were missing three-fourths of our Starting secondary and we only had like ONE WIDE OUT that is in the rotation now actually playing in that game. We pretty much played them guys with young guys who were trying to fight their way into the rotation. So don't take what you heard about that SPRING scrimmage for too much.

 

2.) Oh and by Arlington giving Whitehaven all they can handle, I agree if that means they'll be in the game against us and then fade down the stretch as Whitehaven prevails...

Just so you know Arlington was missing several starters in the spring game as well. If you haven't heard they have a pretty good baseball team and the baseball guys didn't play. This will be a game. Arlington has always had a potent offense but now the defense is playing at a high level. They will be ready for a tough physical game on both ends. Don't expect us to fade down the strecth. Either way this game is close.

Go Cardinals!!! I know we have a lot a haters out there. Ones that thought Brighton couldn't make it past the first game. Or that we did not deserve home field advantage. Well beat Southwind and it was a good game. No blowout but good football. White Station at Brighton next Friday night. Any predictions.

As a friend of Coach Rutherford I expect them to be ready and beat a very good Brighton football team. As an Arlington supporter I hope we get the chance to face either one of these teams in the quarterfinals. Good luck to both. I am sure it will be a close game either way.

Guys, read the rules, there is no defer of the coin toss in overtime. The game officials screwed up and the Franklin coaches were just following the game officials instructions. If you got a beef, call the TSSAA, they assigned the officials. Sad that a playoff game has officials who don't know the rules.

If deferment is not an option in OT then clearly Smyrna got the wrong end of a bad decision. I too would be upset but whos to say the outcome would be different?

It will not let me print, copy or link it but here it is.

Winner of the toss chooses offense or defense and the loser chooses the side of field. Before the second overtime the "loser" of the coin toss before the 1st ot then chooses offense or defense so forth and so on. Only one toss, and the roles reverse each period. Winner of the toss gets the O or D choice in odd numbered overtimes and the loser of the toss gets the choice in even numbered periods.

For the record if the winners of the toss defer then that means they are letting the other team decide what they want to do (meaning they won the toss) Franklin deferred giving the winnig decision to Smyrna who then chose that they wanted a paticular end zone which in turn gave Franklin the choice in the 2nd OT. I hope that you now understand the OT coin flip rules which are similar to the opening coin toss.

We started out flat and the two WS turnovers seem to wake us up. It was a good game but defensively we have got to make tackles and stop the penalties. We gave away free yards leading to the WS go ahead TD. Also being inside the 10 yard line with Genesy and Webber out for minor injuries killed us from a put away TD. Genesy with 193 yards and 3 TD 's with WS loading the box. Some people on this message board have no clue who is considered a top RB in the area.

I agree that your MAN Genesy is a top RB in the state not just Memphis. For him to gain 193 yards on White Stations defense says alot. I know there Head Coach well and he told me that Genesy would not beat them that they would have to win threw the air. Well he almost did beat them. Genesy should be playing in the SEC somewhere next year. Good luck to that young MAN!

What about the bogus pass interference call against Franklin on 4th and goal with 40 seconds left that would have ended the game? And the deal with the overtime period was as follows. Franklin won the coin toss and deferred. The Smyrna captain then stated they wanted to go towards this endzone. That's why Franklin had the option to pick ball or defense in the second ot. Both teams got the ball. Smyrna kicked a fg and Franklin scored a td. Ball game. Get over it.

Sounds like some sore losers. I like that you point out the correct rules the officals followed. Sounds like they should be upset with their own coaches for not having their kids ready to make the right call once the Franklin captin messed up. I like how they want to say the officals must have been from Memphis.

The best offense in Shelby County going against the best defense in Shelby County(maybe the best in the state). Arlington will be ready for the biggest challenge in program history. Hopefully Whitehaven will be looking ahead and Arlington can pull off a hugh upset. Whitehaven will be the toughest team they have ever faced.

I have not seen Arlington play this year. I have seen Dickson County play this year. Dickson County will defeat Arlington tonight. Dickson County will go deep in the playoffs. Arlington will have a very long, quiet ride back to Arlington tonight.

I am aware of that link but I was looking for some info on Dickson Co. and it seems everyone there was talking about Arlington and what we do. Enough talk only 8 hours till kickoff. I am heading to exit 163. Here come the Tigers!!!!!

I think thats exactly what Dickson has to do to this Memphis area school....HIT THEM IN THE MOUTH! I think they will. From what I know (which is limited), Memphis area teams like to run the spread and use their athletic ability. Dickson is going to cram it down your throat. Don't think Arlington sees that very often, and I don't know if they can or how they will stop it. . I think Dickson wins 31-17. I could be wrong, because I'm not that familiar with Arlington.

You might be correct on the score but it will be in Arlingtons favor. I'm not that familiar with Dickson County but it looks like they lose when they play good teams and they win when they play average teams. Arlington is a very good team. Didn't Dickson Co. lose to another Shelby Co. school (not Memphis area like you seem to call us)in the 1st round of the playoffs last year. We will have strong support when we roll into town tonight.
