When was the last time Alcoa did NOT reload??

blazer, Alcoa and Maryville will reload! Question will be how many bullets will they have, and please understand I'm not cutting either program. But this year's version of both were not up to year's past teams. I guess I'm saying, how strong are the reloads going to be? Look forward to next year's versions!

I’d be shocked if Powell won , I just don’t think they have the Defense that West does . I think the only way Powell does win is if Potts has an amazing, miraculous game … which that kid has in him I have no doubt . Wish I could see this game

Agree, and I think West wins the battle in both trenches.

This would be Nolensville's 3rd semifinal trip in school history if they can pull it out. Only been playing Varsity football since 2017, so that's pretty impressive. Other things I learned about NHS this past week:

    Made playoffs every year (4a 2017 - 2020 ; 5a 2021-2022)

    Made semifinals x 2 (2018-2019)

Won a playoff game every year since they started playing varsity.

Still think the cold weather benefits the Patriots over the Knights.

....and their little league baseball programs aren't bad! Lol

Can't remember, does West have a lot of seating on the visitor side?      Thinking we can get to the stadium by 6:15.    No idea how many Boone fans are driving 100 miles to sit in the cold and watch a massac...    er, uh, watch the game

Blazer, they have plenty of seating on the visitor's side.

I read they have three guys with at least 6 sacks and three guys with 4 interceptions?   How do they have those stats if they've only played half games?

ILB, their that good! My son coached at Central with Rosser and part of the back to back championships. This West team is better than the team Central beat in the semi's and to be honest, may be better than the Central teams. More athletes, quicker! Latham (RB) is the real deal, defense is very quick to the ball. Boone will struggle to move the ball!

He retired from teaching and coaching.  He had enough years in.

Larry was a good guy with a lot of irons in the fire.  He was a county commissioner for several terms, and his wife owned and ran a construction company that he was very involved in and got more involved in after he retired from teaching/coaching.

I haven't heard from him in several years, however.  Last I heard they had moved to their lake house permanently.

Really liked Coach Stephens! Kids (including my son) loved playing for him.

We take the rematch this time but, it’s going to be the game of the year for sure! Not saying it should be the actual state championship game but, this will be a much better game than either the HC/Springfield or our winner versus their winner.

Not to be looking ahead but, there could very well be a rematch for the Ship this year!

You obviously not kept up with team from all parts of the state. I would agree with game of the week. But this is far away from the game of the year or state championship game. I've followed these two all year, they are good, best in the west! But they are in for a rude awakening with what West has put together.

Boone's offense has been set up by its D all season long with short fields and good field position. I don't think West will give them that. Both D's are comparable but the offenses are not. Boone's line is young and undersized so West will have a major advantage at the line of scrimmage. Boone's D will keep it close for a little while but eventually West will pull away and win comfortably. Boone's only chance is to use ball control, limit possessions, and eat clock. Easier said than done. West by 3-4 scores.

Boone's defense doesn't come close to the athleticism and physicality West has. No  comparison! Boone may struggle to get across midfield against the West starters.

Only way I see Powell losing this one is if the weather is really nasty to slow their passing attack or coach Lowe tells them he's leaving for Catholic

I think weather is going to play a bigger role in this than folks would like. Highs in the low 40's Friday, 30's at game time. Gonna make it hard to grip, throw and catch the ball. Anyone who played the game and had the pleasure of standing on a sideline in 30 degree weather waiting for your turn to go in knows how hard it is to stay warm. Team that can run it the best should have the advantage.

You guys are making me want to just stay home Friday and watch Laverne & Shirley reruns instead of trekking down to Knoxville.........

Blazer, don't stay home! There's nothing better than high school football on Friday night, and the Laverne and Shirley reruns thing may have told me we are close to the same age.

    Common opponents:
Halls...................... West won 35-0, Boone won 37-15
Knox Central......... West won 44-3, Boone won 30-7
Davy Crockett........ West won 56-7, Boone won 35-7
Morristown West.. West won 68-14, Boone won 38-7

    Series History:
    2011 West won 35-13
    2010 West won 33-14

    Using A=1, B=2, C=3, etc. yields:

    KNOXWESTREBELS = 192.................... 1+9+2 = 12
    DANIELBOONETRAILBLAZERS = 239... 2+3+9 = 14

I don't see this game as having a huge gap in ability.  Daniel Boone beat Science hill by 6.  Science Hill just beat Farragut by 21.  West beat Farragut by 19.

Honestly,  I think both Daniel Boone and Science hill have a legitimate chance to win their games.

Problem with this comparison is that West put the running clock on at half time. Game was over!  ILB, you'll see the difference in ability come Friday night. Won't be a contest! West is on a mission!

Science Hill is a Dr Jekyll Mr Hyde team. If the same Science Hill team that drilled Farragut shows up Maryville is in trouble.  I honestly thought Farragut would be going to Maryville.

My thoughts exactly!!!! Rebel, don't get me wrong but Maryville has done their own version of Jekyll and Hyde. Pulling for them but SH has some momentum going after that win. No telling how this will go.

Blazer, I’m all in “picking Boone.” Did my Big Ones Saturday and I look down and said what 2 idiots voted for Boone, as it showed 2.5% for Boone. It hit me, the % represents who I voted for. I HIT THE WRONG BUTTON! I’m preparing for the game. Will watch THE 300 Spartans, The Alamo, 1943 Classic Wake Island, and They Died With Their Boots On.

Noones, Costco has a good deal on a case of movie style buttered popcorn. Sounds like you might need some. lol

Congrats to Boone on a great year for them, but with or without the QB they are in trouble vs West. West is heads and shoulders better than anyone around here in 5a except Powell, but I still think west is better. Unless they had injuries last night, I gotta take West big. Congratulations to Boone tho.

Agree, and even with Powell, West will have to beat themselves.
