  1. Everyone likes to see good kids be successful...at least I do. I would say that Ben W. has found a home there at MJCA...sporting a 19 pt avg for his first 6 games. Yes and you are right...when Ross Welch becomes eligible he is gonna help the USN team a whole lot. I really think a number of teams are in the run for this Division...so it ought to be a lot of fun down the road. I'm afraid Tuesday looks like a snow out for the Ezell/MJCA game.
  2. Wow!!! MJCA has come out of nowhere to lead the poll of favorites. Well Ezell has played 5 teams in Div II Mid/East. The strongest players we have seen to date have been DCA's De Ewin, Jawon Jones, and Kyle Kennedy...for USN Nilan Hodge. We have also played Riverside, Knox Webb, and Davidson Academy though may have some strong players...none really stepped up in the games vs EHCS.
  3. Sounds like a great game coming up then on Tuesday. Where does one fine a 6'8" fellow? It sounds like the MJCA and Ezell may pit a very similar make up of Seniors and unselfish play. But from what I hear...this game may be delayed due to the impending weather. Exactly where is MJCA? Incidently one of the boys Daniel Harden actually went to Ezell Harding years ago...the gman had the pleasure of coaching him in baseball for a fall season. That is a very impressive win over Webb-Bellbuckle. Hats off to the Saints for making waves early in the season. Gman
  4. Okay I see a lot of people looking but nary a one willing to talk...so I will do some talking. I am glad someone voted MJCA as a Division Champion...cause they are certainly putting out an interesting number on their wins and losses win and then a "Quality Win over Webb-Bellbuckle" What is the real story behind the Saints? Ezell takes on the Saints on Tuesday...weather permitting anyone got any information? The Eagles go to 4-0 with a win over Davidson Academy last night. Corey Teague leading the charge with 20 pts. Go Eagles!
  5. Most of the damage was done on the free throw line 14 of 15. We were proud.
  6. USN is one of the solid choices for sure...there is a reason why Nilan Hodge is leading the division in scoring...he is super quick, smooth as silk, and has MVP qualities in leading his team. If they can make it to the finals...the missing ingredient to the team is the DCA transfer Ross Welch. I actually like DCA's chances as well...they are a very quick team of guards with some guys down low that can really do the damage. I thought they totally dismantled FCS in the Christmas tourney at Ezell and thought they were the team to beat after that first game. It is gonna be an interesting game on the 14th (Ezell vs DCA) and could go a long way to determine the who the regular season champ is going to be. But I am telling you I think between FRA, Webb-Bellbuckle, and even Knox Webb who has two losses...I think the Champ may end up with as many as two losses under their belt. I still like the Eagles chances...but then don't I have to... Gman
  7. Thought I would throw this topic out there to see if anyone wants to do a little talking about the teams in this division. Any takers? What about some of the best players on some of the teams you have played? We're listening... Gman
  8. Don't know much about his dad...but Corey's a great athlete as well and a good young man. Personally...I would like to see him finish at Ezell Harding.
  9. Big Daddy...you are gonna love this. I just thought you guys loved the Gman after all I love you guys...lol. Kinda wish Ezell was still in your class and not in the DII division. Okay in your first post you said, "Well any thoughts? How's the Gmen been playing recently?" That is why I chirped in...Now I see you are talking about Gville and not my son's team "Gmen" What an mistake. Okay guys that's the last from me but will be reading your posts...keep it positive! Good luck the rest of the way. May your dribble stay true and the 3's drop like rain! With much peace and love for the New Year! The Gman and the Gmen.
  10. Just trying to get some other folks to talk about some of the top players in the Division. Would like to know and talk about some of the other good players around town. USN's Hodge seems to be leading the pack...we get to face him on Tuesday. It looks like the Webb Feet have a couple of good players and now we are familiar with some of the boys from DCA....guess I should have made a DII A post....do that in a couple of weeks. That's all.
  11. Trainer...somebody is trying to get someone to stir up the pot again....lol...btw Happy New Year all. Hey well the Eagles lost in OT to DCA so we are kinda playing good so maybe we aren't so bad as the FCS game looked over a week ago. In fact we should have probably won the game after letting a 4 pt lead slip in the final minute of OT. Onc minute we were 4 pts up then we were 5 pts down within 58 secs...how did that happen? Only a 30 ft shot for three made it a two point game...Should have could have would have. Did I tell you that this Ezell team has balanced scoring? Here are the pts for the top scorers in Div II A the top 6 Eagles are included...have you ever seen balanced scoring such as this? They range from the Gman's 143 Zach Jenkins 144 Bryan Duncan 147 Blake Mitchell 154 Corey Teague 173 Hayden Ray 176 Here are the other top scorers in the Div II Small school division... Hey are there any other guys that want to brag on their team or players in the DII Small School Division? Hey has Sewanee emerged as a Powerhouse this year? Holler! 12. That's a good one WarEagle... Well in the Midstate Christmas Tourney the Coffee County Girls beat Friendship on the Girls side and it was DCA beating EHCS in OT by 2. It was a great game back and forth of 10 pts. In OT DCA made a great comeback from 4 pts down with about a minute left to win the game. Good job Wildcats and good game Eagles. Despite the loss...it was a fun game to watch. Phew...I'm tired. Happy New Year to all! May your 2011 be filled with much joy and happiness. Peace and Love, Gman
  13. Hey Camper...not a made up thing from my side...been quiet because I was afraid I was just doing as you said...thought maybe just better let things play out. I always try to be encouraging in all I say...but saying stuff that doesnt happen...I think I would better in keeping my mouth shut. And just speak on the truth as it becomes reality. Hopefully things will work out as we all love Corey Teague at Ezell and want him to stay. The truth for the goings on for now is that in the Boys Midstate Christmas Final it is DCA vs Ezell. Similar teams with similar personnel. DCA beat Friendship and Columbia Academy to make it to the Finals and the Ezell boys got there through Coffee County and Aaron Academy. The game starts at 8:30 pm at Ezell Harding. DCA has the depth, Ezell has the experience, and the gman...has the camcorder... and that's the real truth Camper...nothing but the truth. Please forgive for my missinformation....only the truth for now on. Gman
  14. DCA boys looked very good against FCS today. They were very quick and harassed FCS out of their game plan. They did a lot of things right or may have caught FCS before the morning coffee. They did go about 8 deep. I did not know about J. Jones or D Ewin ...they matched up well with FCS height today...the other 6 guys played with a lot of quickness and speed. They did chuck a few 3s but fed the inside guys too. Gonna be tough to beat if they play like that every game.
  15. Corey is a Junior...however...seems everyone is confused on this one. In order to keep my journalistic skills correct...I guess I am gonna have to keep quiet until all things happen. Corey may still be at Ezell and he still may play which is my hopes...cause we need him in the interior. I was at the DCA Friendship games today...congrats to the FCS Girls and the DCA Boys team. The DCA Boys looked really quick and played really well this today. Seemed they got FCS out of rhythm and forced FCS to play at their tiempo. They could very well be the team to beat in this tourney. Sorry for the missinformation...not sure where to go with this story at the moment...but will update you on it after our game tonight. Go Eagles!
  16. Hey Possumtown and GreenFog...do you guys have any boys or girls playing on FCS team? Hardly seems fair that you guys know my boy and I do not know yours. Also...Greenfog you must video the game or be a master of catching the action as it unfolds...I have to look at the video I take to verify what I actually see cause your interpretation of the game is incredibly precise. Hope you guys had a great Christmas...if you see me in the gym this week...please introduce yourselves to me...would love to meet you in person. Gman
  17. Wow...glad someone else said that and not me...lol. That was exactly what my son asked the referee after the foul was called...how was that different than someone else holding on an in-bounds pass. It is all good though...everyone has a different view of everything in life...the view on Possum's side of the court may have reflected something different than mine...from my side and being a dad. But like in everything in life it is what is communicated afterwards that allows us to see the same thing in the end... That is if there is that communication...sometimes it's a "T" by the official...and there goes the communication...LOL. We'll see you guys next week maybe! Good luck! And have a Merry Christmas! David
  18. We have certainly had our share of interesting calls this week for sure. Like up at Knox Webb Corey Teague got a T after one of the refs actually initiated the conversation...didn't like that one. Yes and last night...well the Coach's T...just because he was slapping his hands...there are a lot worse...if that is all it was then the ref needs a little tougher skin. The T on 24 last night I will have to go back and see if I caught it on video...I saw only what the ref saw...so I probably would have T'd him up...but as is the case most of the time...it is the retaliation that get's caught most of the time. But I think you are right...both should have been t'd up. On a personal note...I disagee with the intentional foul called on my own son...after the steal...I guess he should have just pushed the guy instead of grabbing a jersey...I thought it was a weak call as well. And I would have liked a tripping call when he broke to the basketball and tripped over the defenders feet...but we can always complain about the refs...at least half of us will in every game. But the game was convincing won by FCS...so next week we will definitely come in as the underdog...maybe we'll get another chance...hopefully if we do...it will be better game. No you guys shot very good from the charity stripe we were not as good.
  19. Corey Teague is a Junior. And we hope he stays. I believe he is somewhat related to the Teague who is currently playing at UT. Marsalis and Corey may be cousins. For now he continues to play with the Eagles...I hope he plays throughout this season and next sesaon too.
  20. I couldn't agree with you more Possum...FCS really took it to us last night...you definitely have a pretty solid team. If you are an Ezell fan...you hope it was a bad night and not of things to come but if you guys plan like that every game...yall are gonna be pretty tough. Here's a repost from another message...like I said...you gotta go on...and learn from it... Well I am not sure what team that was on the floor for Ezell Harding last night. But have to credit Friendship for a great job...on every phase of their game. They out rebounded, got more pts in the paint, outside, etc than the Eagles. They were a much better team last night...like I said...who was that team in the red? Here's the Videographer's Top 10 Why Ezell Harding Boys Lost To Friendship... #10 Friendship colors is green just like Knox Webb and we thought we were at Knox Webb last night. #9 FCS is too close to Demo's and all the boys had too much of the Blackened Chicken Pasta and that wonderful Heath Bar Moose Dessert. #8 FCS girls basketball coach is way prettier that Dan Carter and well Freud and Cleve are a toss up..Beauty Trumps Ugly all the time whether you win or lose. #7 Most of the Ezell Harding kids were taking exams yesterday...they were still in the guilt phase because while they were playing games in Knoxville all weekend and then cramming on Monday night...they were absolutely brain dead in their game. #6 FCS got football referees instead of basketball officials ... there is no 10 yard rule in basketball. #5 Coach decided to hold back for the Mid-State Christmas Tournament next week. #4 Former Ezell Harding Student Allen Heaston who followed Coach Cleve to FCS told the team all of our secret plays. (none have changed since he left) #3 Asst Coach Brad Farmer for the Eagles left his lucky plaid paints at home. #2 Did I mention the "Officiating?" I won't get fined for this will I? #1 Reason that Friendship beat the Eagles..."They played purty good last night Vern!"

  22. Wow!!! Must have played as an 8th grader...but that is still pretty awesome. 2000 pt club here she comes.
  23. It says a tournament...what would be the difference?
  24. I think this looks like a pretty even field across the board with any team capable of beating any team on any given night. The Home thing sounds great!!! But unfortunately I think it will come down to the team who can be consistently good for the three days in a row. As of yesterday it looks like Corey Teague is staying at Ezell and that is a good thing for the Eagles.
