  1. Lake County travels to South Fulton tomorrow night for their first game in the new year. I hope this half is going to be much better than the last. I believe LC will have this game, because I heard that SF was pretty bad this year. I heard this was one of the worst years that they have had in a while. Don't they have a lot of young guys though? I think I read somewhere that they had a lot of freshman and sophmores on the team. I think Kevin Coplin is ok with Whitby and things are fine as of now. I know that Whitby did put him in the last game at Marion the other day and he scored 17 points in the last two quarters. He didn't play the first half and then Whitby put him in after halftime and he played great. That should tell you enough right there. We need him and we can't lose him as well. Anyway, best of luck to the Falcons this year.
  2. Lake County lost this game 94-91 in triple overtime. I talked to someone up there and they said all that Lake County had to do was hit their free throws and they'd won by 20 points. We missed too many crucial free throws. At the end of the game, LC was up by three and St.Mary's hit a miracle shot and tied the game and they went into their 1st OT. At the end of the 1st OT, it was the same situation as before and St. Mary's this time hit a 40 foot prayer. So they go into 2nd OT and in the end, Tony Tyler hit a three and put us up by one. St. Mary's got the ball and they either missed a shot or turned it over. Andrew Wallace then got the ball and he was fouled. He made two big free throws and put Lake County up by three with about 3 or 4 seconds to go. LC had the game. I swear if the same thing didn't happen again. They hit a shot from half court and tied the game again! They head into the 3rd OT and LC was just out of gas and they also had Springer, Warlick, and Geanes on the bench fouled out. St. Mary's won 94-91. But this is the funny thing about it all. Tony Tyler didn't come into the game until the middle of the 3rd quarter. Andrew Wallace came in about middle of the second and made 5 strait points and Whitby took him out. He put Andrew back in about midway through the third and he hit 2 strait three's and Whitby sat him out and didn't put him back in until the 2nd OT. I guess he had to when 3 players fouled out. Several times during the game, Whitby had Jackie Johnson, Tremayne Abbott, and Marcus Terry on the floor, while Tony Tyler, Andrew Wallace, and Kevin Coplin sitting on the bench most of the game. I am not taking any credit from these guys, but he had three B team players on the floor at once and 3 of your best players on the bench. And this is the biggest thing! Kevin Coplin has not stepped on the floor in the past three games. He has not played one second! He was mad and he was talking about when he got home he was quitting. We already lost Papa and we can't lose Copelin as well. He is our only big guy left and he is full of talent. But can you really blame the kid for wanting to quit. It's not like he is some sorry F team player. Kevin is great and he rebounds and hustles for the ball. He is a great athlete! I just don't ever understand Whitby. Sometimes I just think he is crazy. I really do and a lot of LC people have been mad at him by the way he has been treating these kids. It's really not fair to them. I am not trying to start any arguments and I know he is the coach, but I don't know what is going on with him. Anyway, best of luck to the Falcons therest of the tourney and may we all come back together as one piece!
  3. That sounds pretty good, but I would not put Union City in the number one spot. I know your going to say quit whining because they beat you guys, but no, I am saying they are not the number one team. Middleton, Temple, and Grace would be way above them and Humboldt also.
  4. I heard someone say this game was pretty close the whole game and then Union City just went away with it late in the fourth. Is that true? Also, are Westview boys any good? I know their girls are, but I was just wondering how the boys were?
  5. Ok, just go back and read what I said. I said that I was refering to Union City and NOT Humboldt. I said that I was not talking talking about Humboldt, because they don't get on here and brag. Just go back and read it.
  6. I don't know why it put all those scores so close together. I seperated them as I typed it. I will do it again so that you can read it a little better. Union City District Games Union City 86 Dresden 61 25 points Bradford 44 Union City 79 35 points Union City 70 Lake County 47 23 points Gleason 19 Union City 75 56 points Next Game Dec. 20 Trenton at Union City should be a good game Humboldt District Games Humboldt 75 Trenton 54 21 points Dresden 38 Humboldt 75 37 points Greenfield 33 Humboldt 63 30 points Humboldt 86 South Fulton 43 43 points Next Game Dec. 20 Humboldt at Gleason probably a 35-40 point win, if not more
  7. WOW! That is impressive! I heard someone saying that Union City was already about 75 over the limit. I don't know what can be done about it, but I know that they are not a single A school. I guess nothing can be done. Anyone will say that except Union City! Anyone can look at these numbers and see which schools don't belong in Single A. It is just common sense. Your right, no one should beat them in this district. Look at who all they play! The only teams that really have a chance at even getting close to beating them are Lake County, Halls, and Trenton. The rest of the teams don't even stand a chance. I think that you will agree with me on this, but do you think that Union City and Humboldt should be playing teams like Gleason, Bradford, Dresden, and South Fulton? I don't think so. I don't say anything about Humboldt though, because they don't get on here and brag about being in 1A and beating all these teams by these huge margins like the Union City people do. Why do you think that the Union City girls are so good and they have the best start since the 1920's. It's because they are playing these weak single A schools and they are used to getting blown out every night by 2AA schools. That is why they have such a good record. Below I want everyone to take a look at these game finals and tell me what is WRONG with this picture! Humboldt District Games Union City District Games Humboldt at 75 21 points Union City at 86 25 points Trenton 54 Dresden 41 Dresden at 38 Bradford at 44 35 points Humboldt 75 37 points Union City 79 Greenfield at 33 Union City at 70 23 points Humboldt 63 30 points Lake County 47 Humboldt at 86 Gleason at 75 56 points South Fulton 43 43 points Union City 19 Next Game Dec. 20 Next Game Dec. 20 Humboldt at probably 30-40 Trenton at should be a Gleason point win Union City good game Now you tell me that these two belong in 1A. Beating all these district teams by 20-40 points every time they play and sometimes 50. That was ridiculous when UC beat Gleason by 56 points. I know Gleason isn't that good, but that should tell you something right there. Both Humboldt and Union City are undefeated in the district. Don't get me wrong, both Union City and Humboldt are great teams and very athletic, but they just don't belong in 1A. I know someone from UC will reply to this and say quit making excuses and quit whining about us being in single A and so on, but I am just stating the facts and you know it. You should be real proud that you are killing these 1A teams, but look the teams that you have played that weren't 1A. The results weren't too good and they won't be as long as you play schools other than 1A. The only teams that you have beat are in 1A. That should also tell you something as well! I know everyone will agree with me, well except for the Union City folks of course! Just stating the facts, That's All!!
  8. Sounds like you have had a pretty rough year. I hope that everything goes well for you and your family here on out and may your family have a good recovery. Prayers do work and they do come true and you are in my prayers. May you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Maybe this will be a good year for you and your family. Best of luck to you and you are right, there are a lot of good people that post on here. May everyone have a safe and Happy Holidays. Wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year also from everyone in Lake County!
  9. Yeah that is right and they played again last week and Bolivar beat them.
  10. That is exactly the way I feel as well. Were you at the Bradford game the other night? If you weren't, what you said is a perfect example of that. Andrew Wallace and Kevin Coplin were on fire. They all were. They were all playing good on offense and defense. Andrew was really on fire and didn't miss but one shot until he took all them out. Andrew was playing great and he was playing great offensively and defensively and you couldn't have got a better performance out of him. He was shooting well and rebounding the ball and stealing the ball and playing good defense. He was doing it all. He was the leading scorer with 18 points. And then the next thing you know, Whitby is putting in a whole new five and let them play the rest of the quarter. That just got them all out of sync. He put the starting five back in for the start of the second quarter. I mean they were still hitting, but they weren't on fire like they were in the first. If your team is hitting, leave them in. And the way that we have been playing lately, leave them in if they are on fire. We need that confidence bad. He should have left them in long enough to get a big lead and then let the others come in. He would take the starters out and put another five in and then Bradford would get within 8-10 points. Just leave them in and let them get a good lead where you know they can't catch up and then put the other guys in, especially if they are hitting.Another thing, it seems like Whitby is just winning barely enough to just get by. You are supposed to beat teams like that by 25 or 30 points. Sometimes I just don't understand that man. I don't know why he does the things that he does sometimes. He really confuses me sometimes. I'm not the coach though and I can't complain too much because we are winning. All I am saying is that I don't understand some of the things that he does sometimes and I am sure that you and everyone else in LC agree with me on this, because I have heard SEVERAL people say the exact same thing that I have just said. Lake County definately has the talent!! Anyway, best of luck to the Falcons the rest of the season and good luck in the Christmas tournament next week!
  11. Well they do deserve the credit, they are a good team. Both of them played the whole game. Clay fouled out with about 3 1/2 to 4 minutes to go in the game and Wallace hurt her ankle again not long after Clay and didn't play the rest of the game. I think it was a couple minutes to go when Wallace came out. They had no one to bring the ball up the floor and like I said in the post before, they were just so out of sync. Also Geanes didn't play. She had a death in her family and she didn't come. When you don't have Clay, Geanes, and Wallace, bad things are going to happen. They are lucky that they escaped this one.
  12. I was talking about the last quarter. Lake County could have beat them 15 points and I think they will when they play at Lake County. I might be wrong, but I don't think it will be that close when they come to Tiptonville. Yeah Clay fouled out, but Wallace hurt her ankle again and she didn't play the rest of the game. When you dont have Wallace, Clay, and Geanes on the floor, it makes a BIG difference. You could tell that by the Bradford game. They had no one to bring the ball up the floor and they couldn't get anything right. They were all totally out of sync. It's good that it was only a few minutes left, because if it had been 4 or 5 minutes, Bradford would have got that win.
  13. Who all has Humboldt played? I read on another post in this topic that Humboldt hasn't played any good quality teams? Who has been the toughest team that they have played so far this year?
  14. That is exactly what I was thinking. They will definately not be in the number 4 or 5 spot. I totally agree with you, they will be lucky to even finish 8th if you ask me. I mean they have improved some, but not enough to finish in the 4 or 5 spot.
  15. Lake County won the game 50-47. It wasn't even that close though. Lake County had about an 8 point lead with under 3 minutes to go. Christian Clay fouled out and Sarah Wallace got hurt again. It's not bad, but she just turned her ankle again and she didn't play the rest of the game. Chelsey Geanes didn't play also, because she had a death in her family. When Christian and Sarah were both out, LC had no one to bring the ball up the floor. LC made a lot of turnovers in those last couple minutes and Bradford converted off of them and cut it close. All LC had to do was hit their free throws and the game was their's. They did and they won. It was a sluggish game though. Bradford led at halftime 22-15, but after halftime, it seemed to me that LC was playing a lot better. Good job to the ladies on their district win!
  16. Lake County won this game 72-56. They played a lot better tonight. I hope they keep this spark that they have right now. Tony Tyler didn't play tonight. He hurt his side or something on his hip during last night's game against Trenton. He wasn't needed though. Andrew Wallace played great tonight. He got game honors with 18 points. He drove inside a lot tonight, but he also made a couple three's. Brandon Springer and Kevin Copelin played great also. Whitby left Copelin in and he played wonderful. Whitby took out the starting five and put in a fresh five. He did it every quarter with about 3 or 4 minutes to go, except for the fourth, he left all the starters in. I have to say that Bradford has improved some. They have a couple good outside shooters. The Falcons are through playing ball for about a week. After that, they travel to Marion, Illinois to play in the Christmas tournament that they have been playing in for the past several years. I think they are playing a couple easier teams this year than they have played in the past. I figure we will win a couple of those games instead of losing all five like we usually do. That usually makes us better though. Best of luck to the Falcons and good job tonight!
  17. I think they will win big also, but do you know anything about Bradford's team and what they have this year?
  18. Lake County travels to Bradford Saturday night for their fifth district game of the year. I know this used to be a big rival game and when these two met, it usually went down to the very last second. Then LC was down and Bradford killed us every year and then vice versa. I know Bradford is still down this year and losing Richardson hurt them a lot. That takes away 30-40 points for Bradford. How is their team this year? Have they improved any? I think LC comes out with the win tomorrow night. Best of luck to the Lady Falcons!
  19. Lake County travels to Bradford Saturday night for their fifth district game of the year. Lake County is 3-1 in the district so far. I think LC has this game winning by a big margin. How is this Bradford team? I heard someone saying the other day that Bradford has improved a whole lot since last year. Anyone have any info on them? They may have improved, but I think Lake County comes out on top in this one. Best of luck to the Falcons!
  20. LC beat Trenton 59-46 tonight and it was a great game. Lake County played a lot better tonight. They didn't play ball like they know how to, but it was much better than they have been playing. Brandon Springer played really good tonight and he also had 2 dunks. Tony got hurt during the 2nd or 3rd quarter tonight and didn't play the rest of the game. He might have come back in for a minute or two, but I don't remember seeing him after he got hurt. It's not bad though, I heard him say it was his back or hip or something. I don't think he is playing tomorrow night, but I don't think he will be missed too much. We play Bradford. Sep had a pretty good game and Kevin Coplin had an excellent game. We need him every game and maybe Whitby saw that tonight. Whitby put him in the game and left him in and he played great. He helped LC to win the game. He had a lot of put backs and lots of rebounds. LC actually rebounded the ball tonight also. They have been out rebounded every game this year. I guess they practiced on it or something, because I saw a major improvement during the game. Our free throws were a lot better too. I know we missed a few, but we knocked them down at the line tonight. It seems like our boys got it together tonight and played ball. Hopefully this is a starting point for LC and maybe they got their spark back tonight. I sure hope so. I figured Trenton might be down some this year without Doaks and Partee, but they are a tough team and they will upset some people this year. They have a pretty good ball club. Have they played Union City yet? That sould be a good game when they do meet. Anyway, good job to the Falcons. Hopefully they got their spark tonight and will play good the rest of the year.
  21. Trenton travels to Lake County Friday night in what should be a big district showdown. LC beat Trenton 3 times last year and Trenton beat us when it mattered the most during the regional championship game. But, things have changed since last year. Trenton is without their Mr.Basketball Doaks and Partee and Lake County is without their big man Justin Clay. How is Trenton this year? I know they lost Doaks, but is that all they lost. If I am correct, they still have Ashburn (can be deadly from the outside), Yancy (very good point guard), and Fields. I believe I am right. Who else is in their line-up? I figure Yancy is starting, because he came in off the bench last year and played great and also put a spark in the Tide. He was really quick and brought the ball up the floor very quickly. Who do you think wins this one? I believe LC has this game, but the way they have been playing, I wouldn't put it past them to lose to the Tennessee School for the Deaf if they played each other. They have been playing terrible here lately and it's ok to play not so good when you play Gleason and Dresden and teams like that, but you can't play like that when you play Union City and Trenton and etc.. They better straighten up and get it together or they are going to lose many more games. Best of luck to the Falcons!!
  22. This was the worst shooting night the Falcons have had in probably 2 years. They couldn't hit from the outside, couldn't hit from the inside, and most definately couldn't hit from the free throw line. At halftime LC was 3-12 from the line and UC was 6-15 from the line. I know Channin missed 5 in a row. It was a terrible shooting night for the Falcons. I said in an earlier post, if either team had a bad shooting night, they would get blown out of the gym. You can't have a bad shooting night when you play either of these teams. You just can't do it. Lake County missed enough EASY lay-ups and free throws to win this game by 15. Another thing I don't understand is why Whitby didn't play Copelin play more than he did. He didn't play the whole second half. He gets A LOT of put backs and gets A LOT of rebounds. We definately needed rebounds tonight. We were out rebounded very badly. Back to Kevin, why doesn't he let him play? He gets in there and hustles and works hard in the post for the ball and gets a whole lot of lay ins. Bigster, I know you have to agree with me on this. I just don't understand Whitby sometimes and the way he does things. Let the kid play!! He is good and he helps us out tremendously!! You know, I've heard people say how UC will blow LC out everytime they play them, UC can be beat and they probably would have if LC wasn't off so badly. I know the score would have definately been closer. UC can be contained and they are very beatable. I have to give them credit though, they are a very good ball club and I see them doing pretty good this season. Have they played Humboldt or Trenton yet? I don't think they have, but those will both be good games too. I knew after halftime that it was over. When LC is off, they are off and more than likely they get beat against good teams. Was it just me, or did it seem like both teams got away with A LOT of walks. I am not making excuses, because I said BOTH, but it just seemed like they walked down the floor instead of run. I guess they just let them play, I don't know. Maybe it was just me. Anyway, Weddle is very good, but he can be stopped also. Sep played very good defense on him, but he got a lot of his points from fast breaks. His got cocky one time after a play and the ref T'd him up. The ref said he was running his mouth, but he is a excellent player. I believe the next match will be a little better. I could be wrong though. Maybe Union City will have a bad shooting night next time we play. It's still early in the season and there are a lot more games to be played. Tourney time is what matters. Anyway, congrats to Union City. They are a good team and they will win plenty more games this year. Keep you heads high Lake County. It's just one loss and this game is over with. Now we have to worry about our next big district game on Friday against Trenton. Best of luck to you guys!!
  23. I believe you are right. This will probably be one of the biggest regular season crowds that we have seen in a while. I know Lake County's side will be packed and if I think how the crowd is going to turn out, there will probably be a lot of people standing. So, UC brings big crowds for basketball? From what I saw during the LC-UC football game, Union City didn't bring that much of a crowd. Their band made up most of the crowd and that surprised me. Knowing what kind of powerhouse football team they had, I figured their side would be packed. That just surprised me. I don't know, I guess it's different for basketball. Anyway, best of luck to the LC boys!
  24. That doesn't sound too BAD to me! They could win just as easy as LC could win. This game could go either way, it just depends on what kind of night either team has. Why did you even start a topic on this? One has already been started on the LC-UC game.
  25. You're exactly right! I remember several favorites last year that were picked to win state and they were sent home early. It doesn't matter if you are undefeated or picked to win state or whatever. What matters is which team wins come tournament time. That is when it counts. You could have a perfect record and get beat in the tourneys and it's over. You could have a 10-22 record and get hot come tournament time and end up winning state. Don't underestimate these teams with sloppy records, they are the ones that will surprise you.
